Think Category Database When You Link to Text on a Lumber Page

holy moley, fantastic-arooni!!

not really sure what this is, doesn’t seem to have anything with me? (stupid question?)

* trying to figure out how to best respond to your Hotmail formatting so have copied into Word then back again, and using a star.
That was just the first index.html page I found and for the purpose of waiting until the subdomain percolated through the web’s DNS, or something like that. Took a couple of hours and needed some index file there to see once it became alive. Eventually I’ll convert the html file to php, as I like to, and then add some script to change the entry page on a regular basis (fresh and sexy again). Perhaps you could rummage this through your mind occasionally until you figure out a good thing to automatically update it. Such as the “French quote of the day” as I have on my F2E page. It rotates through the list every day and I have about 30, so google would never be able to compare it against its cash to see that it’s rotating through some list and always the same – it will always seem like new content. Alternatively, perhaps I could hook into some external database so that it will always show the day’s latest lumber prices or something. Or it could hook up to the actual database and display the number of registered users, as I see you update that from time to time. I do the same for my translationpayments.com page, showing how many users there are and the number of comments etc. Since I get about three new people registering every day, this automatically updates the page and keeps it changing.

super awesome! this is a crazy blast-from-the-past . . . I can see in the future it becoming a really valuable tool, people will see their own names in there as sources and stuff, their own companies and what happened, . . .. etc.

* I found that my most successful pages would also connect OUT. So what you could consider is special outlinks from certain text. As usual, it is always best to link out from important keywords, so perhaps occasionally from the word lumber to some important lumber page which is high on google. In WP I would have to do this manually, so perhaps you could put the link in <brackets> to the right of the word(s) you want to link out from and instruct me this when you send me the file. Otherwise, if you do not link out occasionally to important, third party pages, google sort of perceives the site as a selfish dead end and does not value it as much.

> – tell me what wording you want, such as what to replace “old reports” with

I like “Old Reports”. i don’t really want Madison’s name on there, for sure for now until I see what kind of interest/traffic it gets. You can change it to “Lumber Market Archives” or something like that if you think the description should be more official-sounding.

* Okay, just give me a complete list of suggestions and I’ll implement them.

> – I can remove the Polls on the left hand side, or you can replace them with your
> own poll(s). Let me know the details/questions.

are the polls automatically generated? are polls better to drive traffic? I don’t need them, I don’t really pay attention to them when I see them on other peoples’ stuff. I don’t really want to worry about that: If they are automatically generated (change reasonably often) then just let it run with whatever comes up, but if I have to come up with ideas all the time then let’s just take it off.

* no, you just come up with the ideas once and then they are automatically added to the pages, and change if someone decides to vote on something. All you need is to prepare me a list of questions like I have there now. Can be a yes/no answer, or a list of possible answers. If there are actual real people who will eventually be digging through these archives, I think an interesting poll could make it more interesting a active for the reader. Get them involved, instead of just passively absorbing a site.

> – essentially anything can be put on the left and right sides, such as your
> logo/pic/link/flash etc. This will appear on all the pages that are created.

shouldn’t there be a link to my database, or I guess not my database because that’s just a log-in page, but a link maybe to my Directory information page on the Madison’s website

* of course, that is the entire purpose. Also from within the introductory section at the top of the entry page. The links that are there are simply from my previous WP setup, as I just copied. For me I think two links will be sufficient: one to my SEO page and one to my database programming page, possibly to my webdesign page. Or perhaps I could link out to that from within the text. How frequently do you mention the word web or design?

. . .
oh shit I made a page but haven’t put it up yet. crap crap crap, will have to do that this weekend when I update the website. For the time being the address will be
. . . oh crap I didn’t make one yet thats why its not up. This weekend then!

> – the title of the first page I uploaded (the Word files I sent you, cleaned version)
> is drawn from common keywords found in the text. I use software to show me the
> most frequently used keywords, then I pick out some and use them for the Title,
> Description and Keywords. If you click on the title it will take you to the
> permanent page, and you can see that the address of the page uses the date and
> keywords of the title. This maximises the keyword effect. Otherwise, the main
> entry page (http://lumberdatabasedirectory.kenax.net/WP/) works like a blog roll,
> always displaying the last added articles.

wonderful! no problemo.

> – the links on the left obviously need to be changed. Let me know what you want
> me to link to.

oh oh oh! OK, I thought you had that there because you were using this to also promote your SEO work. Um, yeah, it should be lumber and lumber info. I’ll get you six or seven links, obviously Madison’s will be the first one (It’s Thursday morning so I have all my writing and weekly ka-blammo work to do)

* okeydoke. Perhaps there could be some “register for full version” or something and link to a page where you explain your prices to access the full database, and what other services that might include. Like a Services page or something. I’d say that and a link to the main page, perhaps a News section or something would be the most important, and if you have any concept specific pages, then link to those from within the article text, as I explained (SEO Smart Links is the name of that great WP plugin).

> So you can see that you can also use phrases. Therefore, if you have an important
> page about shingles, then you would want to point to it every time “shingle” or
> “shingles” is mentioned (or other related words or phrases, always separated by a
> comma).

so I need to make a list of words and corresponding pages on my site to link to. OK! more work for the weekend or Monday morning.

* yup, as I just wrote. Keep in mind too that you can add or tweak this over time and it will affect ALL the pages, whether they be uploaded in the future or already uploaded in the past. Occasionally changing this will not be very damaging and google might like it because it actually changes all the pages a bit, but this should not be done very often.

> – the calendar doesn’t have to be there and I just added it for pretty effect. You can
> put pictures or whatever you want in these strips, possibly colour the background
> as you have on your pages, or perhaps you could find your own plugins you want
> to try

Those calendars are everywhere. I remember when they first started cropping up and everyone was adding them to their blogs, I was like, “whatever man! I know what day it is.” but they are used so often we may as well keep them up, for pretty effect as you say. i might decide to play with that sometime in the future, we’ll see how much traffic this stuff draws.

* yah, I mostly put it there for the heck of it, prettyfickation, and to make the site appear more useful and dynamic. Simply bells and whistles. Hmm, or perhaps we could put a little “Latest lumber prices” table with a list of about five important figures. That could appear quite useful, and would help make every page changing on a daily basis. Or add that below or above the calendar or something. Anything is possible, as you see there is a lot on the left and right hand sides, depending on the length of the article. And ofcourse, eventually, room for advertisers…

> – the pictures at the top header are automatically rotating, but if you prefer we
> could probably remove all of them and replace them with only one – the header
> you have on your main pages. But personally I think the variety makes things
> more interesting.

agreed.

* Maybe replace the pencil thing with your M logo?

> – what do you want for the Category names? For now I created Report 01 and I
> think there should be a maximum of lets say 20 pages added per category. This all
> depends on how much text you have to add. Do you have more than 350,000

> text).

Um, do I have to write out ten categories then? Does it know how to archive things? or does it generate its own category names automatically?

* Check out http://001yourtranslationservice.com/wordpress/ as an example. I use this site (the first of these templates) for others to submit their own articles. As a way of adding text to my site without doing any work. It’s all experimentations. I created the different categories ahead of time, where some categories were nested within others (subcategories). Whenever someone uploads text for a new page they can choose which category to add their article to. The category name helps with their seo. So whenever submitting to me an article to upload, you could always specify at the very top of it, lets say in <brackets>, which category you want to add it to. With nested subcategories etc eventually it will look like an interesting and well structured navigation menu. If its set up in an interesting way and people actually read it, google will know and it will help push it up further.

I think the best is to make the categories using the names of the lumber products that are covered every week, so:
WSPF
Studs
MSR ( = Machine Stress Rated if you feel it should be spelled out but everyone calls it MSR)
Cedar
OSB & Plywood
Cargo & Reload

These names appear in the article headings every single week. If you need more, common topics include:
Transport (or Lumber Transport)
Logs
Timber Harvest
Softwood Lumber

* okay, lets keep talking about all this until you know what you want to do, then tell me exactly what you propose all at once, so I do not have to keep changing things. Good to have a good plan for a good overall structure, and then move forward from there. It’s still not live yet so no great rush. Let’s start on a good footing.

> – below is Views, which shows the number of views per each page. Probably
> bullshit but the good thing is that this is dynamic and always changing, so it will
> make every page change over time and appear fresh and sexy in the eyes of
> google.

yeah yeah, let’s keep that there. “come back to my fantastic page of lumber industry information archives! come back often”

> – work on the main index page (http://lumberdatabasedirectory.kenax.net/). What
> do you want to do with the text and pictures you sent me before all the pdfs? You
> want to use that for the main entry page? Perhaps at the bottom or something, but
> the top should introduce the database and what its all about (demo version, if they

> or should I? This first page should be real juicy with all the important keywords,
> so once the top introduction part of the page is written, you can flood the rest of
> the page with keyword blabbery. Up to around 2,500 words would be good. Once
> that is set up I’ll move the demodbase there or at least link to it and then we can
> publish the page and see how long it takes to start getting hits etc.
OH Ok, this is the page I didn’t know why you were showing it to me.
I thought the text+pictures would be my keyword blabbery. I added pics because I thought I saw before on one of your super-long “translation” pages a bunch of photos (of maps and stuff, and photos your friend sent you from Thailand).

* yup, I like adding pics to long text. Especially the first page, because you want to make it interesting for the reader. The longer one stays reading a page it also pushes it higher on google. No harm in making things visually appealing. Obviously the keyword rich alt tags for the pics will always add a slight bonus. What I always do is I choose some keyword string and then add a number, such as “lumber directory database 01”. *

I would write the intro thing, one paragraph, to drive them to my lumber demo. I’ll do that at the same time as I add the “Lumber Directory” page to my website.

* Yes, think attention span of the average moron. You want the very first sentence or whatever to completely hypothesise what it’s all about and quickly send the reader the direction they want to go. if they want to read the archives, by all means. Whatever they want, but make things concise and to the point and clear to understand as quickly as possible. The first page should be visually appealing and set up so a person can quickly decide where they want to go. *

So I guess I need to add almost 2,000 words to my text file + pics I sent you? I’m going to go out to the internet and grab a bunch of related stuff. I think if I copy & paste it with discipline it will come out as reasonably original.
Yes??

* The more original it is the better. Like when I wrote about the history of France while reading it elsewhere on the net. All in my own words. If you use copyscape.com you will see that my f2e pages is 100% original, and that will always score better with the search engines. They have the same technology as copyscape and it is easy to see these snippet copy things. But if you’re running out of ideas, sure, I guess it won’t harm it, but better if fully original. You could put the blabbery later down the page once you’ve linked out to the most important things. For example, there could be an H2 (heading2) titled “Other Information About Lumber Database Directory”, after you’ve explained the basic core. By this point the reader gets the message that it’s probably just some blabbery and has already decided where to go further, if anywhere. But such titles and continued blabber will certainly affect the search engines. *

Exciting times indeed, thanks again for all this! Its a good time to raise the profile because the lumber industry is coming back and people are starting to call (freaking finally).

Hopefully!

Upload Text and Links to Pages for Google Content

so your PIN is 26926 (yiepeeeee) what exactly is this for? I might need your help or an advice in marketing strategies… talking about getting higher and higher on search engine ranking. I think this is what you like to do, right? So when someone is looking for a chiropractor and types into eg. google search engine “chiropractor West LA” or “West Los Angeles” (area where my boyfriend’s chiro practice is located)what do we need to do for him to be the first option or choice for the patient? Do you know of yelp? I need to look into this. I mean how to be the first one when someone searches something particular such as chiropractor and West LA since there are tons of chiropractors (almost one on each corner!!! just like hospody v Praze, hahahaha). Any suggestions?

heydydo, thanks a bunch for the pin and I’ll activate it within a couple of days.

A few years ago you asked me about getting up in google and I wrote you a long explanation. Do you not have that letter anymore? Otherwise I can dig up some letters I wrote to others, or maybe even find the one I wrote to you before. Or I can nurse someone through the occasional step. Does your husband have a website and who is in charge of making changes to it?

For the google postcard thing you need to set yourself up an account with google (such as gmail), and then go to google places. Generally hooking up google places to your website helps with the rankings, and then you show on google’s local results. So, if someone close to where your husband’s office is does a search for “LA chiropracter”, his place will show up in the search results. It’s those little balloons with letters in them, hovering over a google map of the area. Try doing a search yourself to see the competition. His balloon would be one of those with the postcard thing. I believe each address can hook up to as many as 10 websites. k

was trying to figure out how to be notified when someone submits an article to my wordpress free article submission pages and stumbled on the following:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services

Thought it might interest you, as you once stated you wanted others to be notified whenever you update your site with new content. not sure how you could apply this to static html pages, but perhaps its possible. I’ve started setting up WP to replace some of my html pages, to speed up the process. For example, I save a lot of my email correspondence with my translators and then upload that to webpages, as google likes new content to be regularly added. Since we often mention the word “translation” etc., and overall the text is organic, it can only be good. But I have SO much text to add I have simply been lacking the time to craft together the html webpages. But with wp I can now just quickly copy/paste the text, like I’m adding a blog entry, and everything else is automatic. It’s like a template. Check out what I’ve accomplished so far at:

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/WP/project-management/

Been adding various plugins, such as one which will link from certain keywords to the webpages of my choice. Now the process is really quick and you might consider the same for your site if you need to add a lot of text on a regular basis and lack the time to fiddle with your dreamweaver.

After the last big project, when several project managers were communicating with all the translators through my online systems, I simply downloaded all the correspondence and now have more than 200 pages I could add in this way. So I upload about five every couple of days and will slowly catch up to the backlog of text I’ve been accumulating over the years and hadn’t had time to convert to html.

Anyway, just thought I’d mention.

——————

> what you think about this email?

This is all about seo dude, and I can ramble on this forever, but I’ll try to cut it short to the absolute basics.

Hi – I`m Claire Scott from 121carhire.com. We`re one of the largest car hire comparators covering 15,000 depots worldwide. Our management team have asked me to contact partners that may complement our site and extremebulgaria.com seems ideal. We can either:- 1) Exchange links with you (we don`t have a links page – we link from relevant content pages on 121carhire.com which we will explain when you reply).

Link exchange is good because the more links to your site, the higher the traffic, and the higher you will be on google. Since you are already number one for “Extreme Sports Bulgaria”, then you can start linking to you from different text, such as “Paragliding inBulgaria” etc. You can create a partner page to link out to others. For this I created an entirely different domain kenax.net. Best is if the links to you are from pages or domains which have the same theme (sports, paragliding etc.).

 – OR – 2) Our team have been working hard creating content on our own site and we wondered if you would be interested in some unique, free of charge content written for you to publish on extremebulgaria.com. Our editors cover a huge range of subjects and can quickly agree a subject with you and write specifically for you – you will have full editorial control and it will definitely NOT be a sales pitch for us! All we would ask is that you allow us to include one simple text link back to 121carhire.com towards the end of the content which will hopefully be found by the search engines in the longer term – which is how we would benefit.

This can be good too, since google likes “fresh and sexy” sites which are constantly updated with new content and pages. But again, best is if the content is the same as your theme.

For this purpose I created the site:

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/wordpress/

so that people could upload the articles themselves without bothering me. Each page they upload will always have important links back to my important pages as well.

Recently I also created

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/WP/project-management/

where I upload email correspondence with my translators. I must have about 500 pages like that now and will slowly be uploading them. Google cannot tell that it is not interesting material to read, but all our correspondence concerns translations, so I am only helping my overall site and important pages by always linking back to my important pages. It is like a blog, so all I have to do is copy/paste the text, and everything, with links, is created automatically.

So, should I bring some garlic or something tonight for superpopcorn, or will you dudes still be fasting?

———————-

have to send from my computer email because Hotmail is being an asshole. Apart from that, this is so exciting!! the password to extract data from the .pdfs is mad7SONS if you can’t get into the really old ones then I don’t know the password because that would have been someone who worked there that I never met. No matter, you have oodles of files from let’s say 2002 to 2007! the market comment should flow as one long text block taking all of Page 8. if you think you will need 2008 to 2010 then that might be more complicated because the market comments are scattered all over six pages, in individual text blocks. lalalal, excited.

okay, just converted the first file and attached. There are two formats and I would suggest Text Flow Without Pictures (not the file name ending with 1), after which I manually erased the table figures and saved it as the _cleaned file. That works out to about 2,300 words, which is a nice size for SEO purposes. But it was a bit much and slow for my little laptop and I’d like to suggest instead to set everything up for you. I assume it will go much faster for you on your powerful computer. You could have it working on your PC while you continue to work on your Mac. Did I already send you the PDF Transformer software? Of what you sent me that should add up to 350,000 words total, which should be a sufficiently juicy number to grab all the keywords and be at the top of google in everything. Then you could consider expanding your site to include an input form so that US and other country mills etc. could add their own information. If you do start doing that, the search forms should probably be changed to operate on a country basis, otherwise the dropdown list would be excessively long.

Then we’d need to strategise a bit:

1) as I have mine set up, on the left hand side would be the important links (can be the left or right side). They would appear like that on each of the individual pages and would link to the most important pages you want to promote.

2) from within the text, you would choose keywords to link out from, like you see on my pages, and they should link to important articles. Perhaps you have a juicy article about shingles, so you would link to it from the word shingles. There is a WP plugin for this so this process is automated.

Once we set up this structure I would only have to copy/paste from the Word files into WP and everything else would be automatic. Since there would be about 150 pages I could upload maybe 3 every time the site gets indexed, which is about once every two or three days, so it would take roughly half a year to upload it all. Or I could upload more pages each time and speed up the process. I’m not certain which is better, but my guess is that its more organic to spread it out, as google will see it as a site which continually gets updated with new articles. Just a guess.

Okay, I’ll start setting it up on my end. If I eventually change the form page to get rid of the ugly text boxes and change the formatting, you can take that and apply it to yours. Need to make it look prettier if I want to win myself some new customers. k

Think to Link to the Top of a Google Search Website Page

2013
02.19

now that my big project is over and I’m back to looking for work, I decided to try a different approach and get my new “French to English translations translator” page high up on google. I succeeded with Czech to English, but it seems there isn’t that much google search work out there for that language combination. Perhaps most people just go across the street to their neighbourhood translation agency and asks them, because they trust a secretary they can “smell and feel” rather than some contact somewhere on the internet.

But perhaps it will be different in French to English. A lot more work and I am going to go for it. I think the actual translators start at around the fourth page, agencies at best around the second, mostly third. The rest are dictionaries and free, online machine translations. If people want the real thing they need to go further down the search results. I’ve been focusing on this page and am shooting to get it into the top 20. I’ve managed with everything else I’ve tried for so far (usually in top 1 to 10 or something), so I feel confident with this. I can make the website as an agency or a translator, and have a good proofreader helping me with that. Perhaps you might be interested in some output as well?

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/me/CV/French-to-english-translator.php

It’s a first quick draft, saved from my Czech to English page. I know I’ll be working on it but, for a start, I’ve started the backlinking etc. thing, as I know it takes a while until it has an effect on the search engines (SEs). I’m hoping that I can get to the top 20 in the next few months. I am going all out aggressive on this one page. On pages I’ve gone aggressive on in the past I’ve always succeeded, but I realise this is QUITE a competitive keyword area.

Anyway, sorry for the long wind, but while being aggressive about promoting this page I’ve discovered the importance of backlinking. For a while I’ve been following the below guy’s newsletter, as he was handing out lots of useful, free information. He has been quite for a while and just sent out this:

http://www.linkbuildingdossier.com/

147 bucks and I’m gonna go for it. Since you’re the only person I share all my seo secrets with, I was wondering if you would wanna go halfer. Even if you don’t want, I’ll probably be willing to share this with you for free anyway. Lots to read but this guy has been doing it for 10 years and, after hearing such “bs” from his students, he decided to put out a book. Sounds like a good deal and I’ll go for it. I’m near the top of google for “translation service”, with competition of about 25 million, but I think that most people don’t search for that but rather something like “french to english translation document” etc. Czech to English is in low demand it seems.

Anyway, just a thought, but if you quickly skim through that website from this guy, you will see a lot of areas he is covering, and I think I could glean out a lot of tricks to get lots of traffic to your sites. k

————-

yes, two way, direct exchanges became quickly popular, and subsequently abused and used by everyone, which is why google tweaked their algorithm to discount or negate them. When you think about it its pretty obvious and easy for google to remedy. But three way links are much more difficult for google to discern. I therefore always try to point to you from a DIFFERENT domain than you are pointing to me. I already proposed using my directory kenax.net, as I have a category which seems to fit the theme of your site I would be pointing to. Having similar themes is also very important when linking. If you don’t like that proposal I can think up something else for you. There is lots to learn with seo (search engine optimisation) and it is constantly changing, because the spammers are trying every trick possible to get to the top, while google is adjusting its algorithms in a sort of war against the spammers/cheaters, to keep the search results honest and useful for the regular user.

I can link directly back to you, but I’ve been studying search engine optimisation for years and everyone says that direct, 2-way linkbacks are much less powerful because google can easily see that we are exchanging links and hence it is fabricated and not “organic”, so they are highly (or completely) discounted in their algorithms. I have PR2 links I can link to you from, if that is the problem. Let me know your thoughts.

thank you for the linkback. Trying to figure out where is a good place to put your link. Would something like this be okay? http://kenax.net/recip/Society_and_Culture/Employment/index.html

I only link to sites that link back to me from the same site that I’m linking to. If you cannot link back from the same site that I linked to please let me know … and I’ll remove the link to your site. Thanks so much, Luke http://www.colorwize.com

———

Thank you for this wonderful step. I’ll send the PIN code as soon as it gets to up me here. Maybe I should consider having second thoughts about having a website? I must have heard you say you were a web designer too? From the pages I visited during the JD project I admit that you must be a very good one indeed. So, I would like you to tell me how much it may take for you to design an attracting and rich website for us. You can design it in English, and make available some tabs for 2, 3, or 4 other languages. I’ll then translate it into French, and have a translator for German (my third working language), Spanish…A dynamic and attractive website in short… I was actually looking for the contact of your fellow countryman whose name is Rotislav Kavan. He’s a very good web designer who happens to have taught me basics of web design using HTML and CSS…and some Computer Assembly and Maintenance…I saw him designing a website for a friend, and I really liked his patience and dedication, and sense of beauty. I could not find his contact at all, and you make me think of him, if you could do me that favor… The second request is the following: I’m still on SDL Trados 7x. Is there anything I can do to rely on you for a more recent version if you don’t mind? Such action could really improve our competitiveness as we proceed to create the website. If it’s a bad request, just forget about it…I feel so close to you that I always speak out my mind whenever you’re around. Again thank you so much for all you’ve done for me this far. See you later.

I think the best option is if I teach you how to do it yourself because it can be pretty time consuming work. You can then spend time on the details. I can help you in some ways. We’ll see. You can take any page you like on the internet, right mouse click, “View Source”, and then save that, with all the pics, and use it as a template – replacing their text with your own text. My pages are simple to copy. Other pages can be too complex.

Then there are sites you can use to create html pages, based on templates. Very nice stuff, sometimes you can find free services.

For other languages of your website, it is potentially problematic because google works on a per language basis. If you bought a domain and hooked it to my site, you can have translator.com, and then put a spanish page on sp.translator.com (subdomain). You separate things like this for google, and the languages do not interfere with the search results. To get to the top you need a lot of text in each language, but it does look nice for visitors if you have different translations.

Don’t know the Czech guy you mentioned. Try a google search, or perhaps seznam.cz, or facebook.

I have an older version of Trados than you.

Proper Link Exchange Strategy

2012

In the beginning, there was light, and Yahoo shined above all the others. To get web traffic and to the top of Yahoo’s search results it was important to be admitted into its directory. A link from their directory is still very powerful, but mostly they charge for that service now.

Along came google with a new formula, whereby a website was judged by the number of links pointing to it. Each link pointing to a website is like a positive vote. Why else would someone link to another page from theirs if the page they were linking to did not serve some useful purpose?

This concept has been labeled PageRank, whereby the higher a page’s ranking evaluation (0 is the lowest and 10 is the highest), the higher it will show up in google’s search results. This is because the webpage’s pagerank is taken into consideration in google’s algorithm (a long, mathematical formula used to compute the ranking of pages according to the keywords searched) when it is deciding which order to rank pages in.

This formula proved very effective and soon people realized that they were getting better search results with google than they were with Yahoo, so they started switching on mass.

Of course, webmasters caught on quickly too and it became an industry to build “backlinks” – which are links from other websites to yours (if you are the webmaster). All sorts of services sprouted which were designed to accumulate these backlinks for a webmaster. Perhaps it was a submission to 500 directories for a fee of $50. Many such directories sprouted up and included automated systems which made submission to them easier. A domain, such as ezinearticles.com, can be purchased for as little as $12 a year. This means someone can set up an automated directory, then use the programming scripts to do the same but on many other domains. The services which automatically submit links for their clients do so on many of these automated directories, while the directories themselves try to earn an income by including google ads on each of their pages. A single page might mention only a link to your site, with the title and description text, while you have the option to pay extra to push your link to a more prominent, visible and higher traffic location in their directory.

All these sorts of gimmicks and tricks were designed to take advantage of the google pagerank system in order to elevate a page’s ranking in google’s search results. Afterall, how often do you look past the first page of 10 results when surfing the internet? If you are not on the first page, or even in the top few links, much fewer people will actually stumble on your site.

But along comes Panda and Penguin. No, these are not two animals wishing to build links to their little cove in nature, but an adjustment in google’s algorithm to battle against these tactics. After all, google became much more successful than yahoo precisely because its formula for search results was more accurate and successful. But if everyone jumps on the bandwagon and starts to frantically build backlinks, it distorts the original concept in favor of those who practice this strategy. Links are no longer an honest vote and reflection of a website’s usefulness, but can be considered as spam intended to distort google’s search results in someone’s favor.

These tactics would negatively affect google’s business strategy, which is based on producing quality and accurate results, so in the spring of 2012 it rolled up its sleeves and unrolled a few tweaks to its algorithm designed to negatively affect such spammers, while giving a boost to those websites following more honest practices and which seem to be of legitimate quality.

Of course this spelt absolute disaster for many who had intensively practiced such deceitful tactics, and many are still struggling to recover and save face in the eyes of google.

Link Exchanges

One strategy how to build backlinks is by exchanging links with other websites. You link to their page from yours, they link back to you, and you both benefit equally. Ideally, you want to exchange links with websites which are thematically related to yours. For example, if your website is about dog food, you will probably not want to exchange links with your direct competition, but perhaps with a dog food store in another city, or with a dog pound. Definitely not with a site about Viagra. The words on their website should be similar to the ones on yours.

But google caught onto this as well, so if you have a partner.html page from which you link to the homepages of your link exchange partners, while your partners have the same and from which they link to your home page, it looks a little obvious that this is manipulated and google can easily cancel out any positive affect from such an exchange, even though such a strategy worked in the past. Such a link is called a “two-way exchange”, and is easily discernable. You may still get some positive affect from it, but with the new rules probably not very much.

Ideally you want to work with three-way exchanges, such as if you link from a page in your domain to the homepage or deep page of your partner’s domain, while they would link from a page in that domain to a page of another domain you own. Or perhaps they would link to one of your partners, and they in turn link back to you. Such linking would not be so obvious and it would be difficult for google to consider as spam or discredit it.

Also, it is not so effective to link from a “partner” page, full of single links to all sorts of other pages, because google can easily understand the purpose of such a page and also discredit its value. Or simple links at the bottom of your pages pointing out in different directions.

No, the most powerful link would be directly from within the text of a page. Such as a long article about how to take care of a dog, with a link to your store when “dog food” is mentioned. Or perhaps you could create a sponsor box, with some brief text about dog food and link out from that. That way your readers will see it is an advertisement, not get offended if they click on “dog food” from within your text (because they might expect to read more and useful information about dog food – not just get pushed to some product sell), while google could perceive that as some other text within your article (although it might make some assumptions and partially discredit it).

There is a lot of talk on the internet now about backlinking and many have different opinions. I believe you simply need to be more careful and less obvious, but use your mathematical intuition to understand the limitations of any algorithm which google might develop to attack such practices. Best is to be subtle, but to whatever degree google decides to discredit a link, chances are it will not be discredited completely and it will always pay to focus on developing quality backlinks, than to do nothing.

However, one major problem in developing link exchanges, which can be a rather time consuming process, is if your link partner is dishonest and removes their link to you after some time, assuming you will not bother to constantly check that they are still linking back to you. If they remove their link to you, it means you are linking only to them, which is considered a one-way link – the most prized of all links.

Or another nasty trick is if they add a “nofollow” relation to their link to you. This is a command to the search engines not to follow the link to your website, meaning it is almost the same as removing the link. Except that you will still see it and may think your link partner remains honest.

There are several nasty tricks webmasters can use to bend the link exchange game in their favour, such as adding a NOINDEX or NOFOLLOW meta in their headers, which would essentially tell any search engine to ignore all the contents on that page.

Additionally, try not to arrange link exchanges when either of you are sending emails from a gmail account. Google owns gmail and, based on its privacy policy in the past, you can rest assured it might use your correspondence to hone in on link exchange agreements. Especially when you write in an email: “I’ll link from such and such a page, you link to this one of mine,” and within a week the respective links appear on your webpages.

Because it takes time to email with potential link exchange partners, find and approach potential partners, log your agreements somewhere and then add the link to one of your pages, it is a good idea to use a link exchange tool which would automate much of this work and immediately inform you as soon as a link partner tries something dishonest.

WordPress Plugin to Redirect Old Pages to New Ones and Why it is a Good Idea to Have Categories in your Permalinks

2012
08.27

For this I used the plugin Redirection by John Godley. If you place all your posts into carefully selected categories which contain important keywords for that subject, you can set the Permalinks (through Settings) to include the category name in the web url, ie:

/%category%/%postname%.html
or
/%category%/%postname%/

in the Custom Structure on the Permalinks page. This is primarily beneficial if you have many posts covering a broad range of topics and want to focus the topics according to certain keywords. The redirection itself is important so that you can instruct google of where the new pages are. In about a month google will percolate the changes and transfer all page rank and rankings to the new page, otherwise this very important SEO stuff will get lost, to a large degree.

The procedure how to redirect is as follows.

Install the plugin XML-Sitemap. This is also very important for SEO.

Once you create your sitemap, after installing the plugin, download sitemap.xlm from your website and open it in Word.

In XML Data Views choose sitemap.xsl. This should convert the format into a table, with the links on the far left column. Select that column, copy it, erase the entire contents of the file and paste it back in Text Only mode. Save the file as txt format, open it in Notepad and copy its contents into the far left column of a blank Excel file. It should be one per line.

Now update your Permalinks to include the Category name (make sure all your posts are first assigned to the correct category).

Download the sitemap.xlm again and this time it should have the new addresses. Do the same for the second column. Make sure the post addresses are lined up correctly (old site left column, new site second column but with category name in the url address).

If this process will be taking too long and you are afraid your dead and unredirected (old) pages will cause you harm in the eyes of google, you can simply remove

/%category%

from the Permalinks structure and put it back once everything is set up properly.

Now save your Excel file as (Windows) comma delimited CSV format. Before you upload this big file, I would suggest you open the csv file and erase all but one line, so that you can test it first (save it with another name so as not to lose all your data). It should look like (when viewing in Word or Notepad)

old_page, new_page

Now go to Tools > Redirection > Options and upload your test file in the Import section.

Once done, copy the old web address, paste it into your browser and test if it in fact does redirect. If it has worked successfully then you can upload the whole list/file.

More SEO Tips concerning this matter (instructions to customer)

took me a few hours to figure out how to do it but successfully redirected all the old pages. You can test it by removing the category name from the url/page address and see that it redirects automatically to the new one.

Attached you will find your new list of files. I noticed that you have a lot of files similar to:

http://onwardtoourpast.com/genealogy_blog/todays-tip-for-the-real-world-genealogist-120.html

http://onwardtoourpast.com/genealogy_blog/todays-tip-for-the-real-world-genealogist-122.html

http://onwardtoourpast.com/genealogy_blog/todays-tip-for-the-real-world-genealogist-126.html

This is not good because google considers it spammy and downgrades them. If you are looking for ideas how to title a blog you can look at the Tags section in the editing window. It is a good idea to add all the tags, because that is the new thing with google and it might not be paying attention to the Meta Keywords anymore. Or if you want a more detailed report of the most common words used on one of your pages, you can use that SEO Quake plugin I suggested to you a while ago.

All pages should have a unique title, preferably based on the most frequent words on the page, and the Description and Keywords should use the same words, but the Description should be a bit different, so make sure to add a few more words. This combination will have the greatest affect for raising your rankings of that page in those keywords.

If you add any pictures, it is a good idea to use the Title in the picture’s Alternate Text (with each successive picture using slightly different alternate text – I usually just add a number, or add the name of the picture file), which you will find in the window once you select which picture to upload from your computer. Don’t forget that you can embed pictures into the text, such as on the right or left side. Right now you have it in the center and the text does not wrap around it.

If you decide to change the titles of those repetitive pages first wait for my additional instructions.

Now we can proceed to an import step: go to Setting > SEO Smart Links. It’s pretty straight forward, and this system creates automatic links between your pages just like wikipedia does. Wiki is often the first page on the net and this is one of the main reasons for that. Whenever I play around with WP I have the admin account open in one tab, and the online version in another tab. In Chrome you can ctrl pageup or pagedown to bounce between tabs. In other browsers it might be ctrl tab or ctrl shift tab. You update a page, jump to its online version and press F5 (refresh) to see the changes.

To create a list at the bottom of this plugin, first start with one page and test it. For example, every time the word Czech Republic is mentioned in an article, the plugin can be set to create a link to your page/post specialising on that. Once you see how it works you can create your list. You can also do the same for external/third party pages. Google likes it when your pages occasionally do that, as opposed to just interlinking with your own pages, which it would consider a deadend site. I often link out to wiki pages because they are stable and well respected by google. If making such manual linkouts make sure to use one of the keywords you are focusing on with that page.

And when linking to some of your pages from third party sites, which is very important (it’s like a vote for your site and gives it more credit in google’s eyes), you can use the attached file as a guide. For myself I always wrote the Title of the page in the column to the left so that I know what keywords I’d like to link from.

I know that you think the situation has now changed and that it is bad to link back to your site, but I am sure the world of SEO experts have not been fired and they are still busy building backlinks, just being more careful about it. This is a very important part of ranking up in google, but it’s obviously your choice. What I do is if I read some website where I notice I can post a comment on the bottom, and I see that other comments were allowed to link out to their website (or from their name – try to add “Geneology expert” or other important keyword to your name if so), I try to think of a good comment, after understanding the article, so that the moderator will be likely to accept it.

If using the plugin to automatically link to your pages, try to link to only important or interesting articles, to give your reader a good experience and keep them around.

Okay, should take about a month for your new pages to get indexed properly in google, after which I can uninstall the plugin.

SEO Tips: Text in the French Pages Doesn’t Work a Lot for English Google

2012

Discussions Concerning Search Engine Optimization

————————————–

If you’re ever running out of work, another side/backup job you could do is the following.

But it requires that you already know how to work with Expressions.

Basically, and consider this a secret, I save a lot of my correspondence and turn it into web pages. One of the secrets how to get one’s pages to the top of google is to have a lot of original text. Not plagarised from other websites. I have written a lot myself, but over the years I realised how much incredible amount of text I write in emails, not to mention the text that people write back to me. So I have been organising it into categories. It’s a bit of work to prepare it and create the outcome such as:

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/submit-articles/2012/08/01/people-who-sneeze-big-work-hard-enough-for-the-global-man/

That’s just a random sample.

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0027

Pictures of my travels, Koh Phangan, Thailand

I set them up like wiki pages and point to my other pages from within the text.

I have a LOTof text I have not had time to deal with, and generally creating more pages on my site helps all around. It is important to keep doing this occasionally, and its been long enough, so this issue is getting a little bit important.
This is one of my main ways how I like to find work.

After that is the individual language pages, like I already wrote, but that is much more time consuming because you need to read and research a lot for each page, and then write the material from scratch.

With my way above all the text is already written so you can create the pages much faster.

————

thanks for the tips. Yes, I was thinking of getting my new proofreader to look over things once I’m done with the new French to English translation pages. From Czech to English I simply think there is not that much work out there.

My main entry page should be on the first page of google for “translation service” (about 25 million results). I plan to fix up that page so it looks a bit like translation-service-usa’s. For individual language combinations I need to make individual pages, which then all point to my main agency’s page.

I didn’t have to pay to get my pages high up, but a LOT of work was required, and certainly a LOT more than simply meta tagging.

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0034

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0034

Thanks Karel, I’m trying to build up my website using Joomla! which seems pretty good to create a professional design and manage the content easily, thanks to the templates. Anyway, I’m reading a lot of marketing books at the moment, trying to pick the best approach to attract direct clients. I’ll definitely contact you for some help climbing up the google rankings. I noticed your website is on the first page of results when typing “czech to english translation” on http://google.co.uk – Pretty Impressive!!! Did it cost you actual money to achieve that or is it just a clever use of meta tags? With such visibility, I honestly find it hard to believe that you don’t have more work that you can handle. I can see 3 ways to improve your CV webpage though: – I noticed a few mistakes, such as “database of more than 7,000 translators the world over” -“over the world”, etc. which might put off the customers. Maybe give the whole page a good thorough proofread, it cant hurt.

– definitely try “modernizing” the design, to make it look more “corporate”. This helps to build a solid, serious image and is very comforting for the clients.
– Finally, and this is just my personal opinion, I believe it might help a lot to offer your services as an agency rather than as a single individual. I would use these websites as templates :

http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/
http://www.lingo24.com/

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0037

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0037

This is what I intend to do, even though I only work in one language pair. You have the added benefit of actually representing an agency, so definitely use it as an advantage. Of course, these are just suggestions to help you out, I’m only a beginner in the field so what do I know. But this is the approach I would – and will – take myself.

———-

glad that we can move forward with this. Is the Artisteer a free application? If so I can recommend it to the other translators. I think we can combine forces somehow. For the other languages and a markup I would suggest you just forward me the emails. You would have a record that you forwarded it to me, and I would save the email in a special “commission” folder. If some work comes from that customer, I would charge a little bit more to cover your commission.

I see that your page has a non-existent PR, so we need to slowly work on that. For a starters I would suggest you set up an account with google and go to their Webmaster Tools, and submit your site there. I would like to propose a link exchange, where you would link to my French to English Translations Page. I will link to your page as well and it will help increase PR (Page Rank – http://001yourtranslationservice.com/search-engine-optimization/page-rank.html) over time.

https://picasaweb.google.com/103781745144117972393

https://picasaweb.google.com/103781745144117972393

You also need to change your Title to something like “Alexandre.. – English to French Translations Translator”, and use the same words in your Description and Keyword meta tags. Right click on any of my pages and select View Source to see how it should look (at the very top). These “meta tags” are within the <head> </head> section.

For a free html editor I would suggest html kit, as it colours the text for you and makes it easy to edit. ctrl+s to save and then F5 refresh in your browser to see what the page will look like before you upload it from your computer.

Then you will need lots of text. The more the merrier. Each page you create should have a maximum of between 20,000 and 40,000 characters. You might take a look at

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/translations/ea/project-management/2009/12.20_French-to-English-translator-translation.html

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0046

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0046

for an example. Please keep these tips a secret. I use email correspondence for added text. You then link from keywords in the text to your other pages, occasionally (let’s say at most 3 outlinks per page) to an external, high PR site ranking high on google, but which does not compete against you (such as free translation or French dictionary websites). You can install Google Toolbar on Firefox or IE to see a page’s PR, or the SeoQuake plugin for Firefox. Perhaps you could use some source text for translations in the past (if you want to rank high in the French language, you should keep all those French language pages in a special folder, or in a subdomain might be better – keep the languages separate). Important is that it must be ORIGINAL CONTENT and not published elsewhere on the net. You can use copyscape.com to determine that. Then you need a lot of “backlinks” to you, to help push up your PR. The higher your PR, the higher you will rank on google. The bank links should be from such keywords as “English to French Translations Translator” or “English to French translations” etc. (not always the same – perhaps 3 different sets). For this you can try something like http://www.addurl.nu/ to submit your site to high PR directories. Don’t forget dmoz.org, probably the most important. Best is if you submit a domain (such as http://mysite.com) and not a buried link (such as http://somefreeserver.com/translations/yourwebpage.html). Domains can cost about 10 bucks a year, so definitely worth it. Many directories will not allow buried links.

In exchange for all this and future help, I would like a link from your main/entry page to my French to English Translator page (it will only help your rankings, because it uses the same keywords – even though in the opposite direction), and to use your postal address as a sort of virtual office. To verify it google will send you a postcard with a pin code. We would both publish it as our office (you are allowed to connect as many as ten websites to this address). You do not need to worry about people coming to pound on your door. It’s just a little trick in the rankings. Even if someone did come to your door and ask for a French to English translation service, you can refer them to me and I’ll give you commission on the earnings.

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0048

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0048

Another backlink service I recently started using is http://www.seosubmit.com/. It costs 17 bucks a month and I think it is worth it. Moneyback guarantee if you are not happy with the results after two months.

Another service I’ve used in the past is http://www.submitshop.com/, where they can submit your site to 500 directories for some 50 bucks. Most of the directories are probably crap, but in time they could gain substance. In any case, it seems to have helped the pages I wanted to promote and a good bang for the buck.

These are some of the basics to get you started. I’ll guide you more as you progress. Have fun!

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0052

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0052

Okay, I thought about what you said about SEO. Since you mentioned it takes a LOT of time to get the website up the rankings in google I thought it might be wise to upload an index page as soon as possible to get things rolling, assuming that it’s enough for you to work your magic. I have uploaded a “front page” of what will eventually become my website. The address is http://www.allfrench
translations.com Only the various “contact us” links pointing to my email work at this time. I will improve the texts and create the other pages when I have some more time on my hands. If you’re interested about the design, I recommend you check out an application called “Artisteer” (it’s a template builder). It took me 10 minutes to create the html template, a bit more to design the logos (I used The Logo Creator). Both applications are available on the “usual” download sites (wink wink). I welcome your advice regarding SEO and setting up referrals. If you scroll down, you’ll notice I put a “other languages” section, this is where I intend to create the referral to your agency. I have no idea what is the best approach with this. Is it better to sell it simply as “contact our partner” or to put a Kenax banner directly? I thought maybe I could create an email adress specifically for this on my server and automatically forward a copy of the emails that land there to your mailbox. That way we could both see the project offers and decide together how to handle them. I’m not sure about this though and open to your suggestions. Again, I am not interested in dealing with other languages at all and would rather focus solely on my own translations. If we’re taking referral fees on each other’s work though we’ll need a way to know which offers came from which page. My approach with this website is to look big like an agency while still remaining a freelance translator. I’ll send all the non English to French work to you and I’ll find some other qualified English to French translators to handle the subjects I cannot handle myself (law, pharma, etc.) I’d definitely rely on you too with projects involving software localization like Jade Dynasty to process the files and technical stuff like that. There should be plenty of work for everyone. I have taken a look at google’s first page with “English to French translation” and the current results are pretty weak. I honestly think that if we make it to the first page, we’ll get so much work that we’ll have to unplug the phones! Anyway, I really think we can pull it off, English to French is a huge market and, with good visibility and quality work, we’re bound to attract tons of customers. I look forward to hear your attack plan!

—————-

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0060

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0060

Artisteer isn’t free but you can get cracked versions for free. I am familiar with html and meta tags, I use KompoZer which is an open source editor offered by the same guys who came up with firefox/thunderbird. Thanks for the PR tips, though some of this doesn’t seem clear to me. How does the number of characters on the page influence the PR? If you type “English to French translation” in google.co.uk, on the first page you’ll see this: http://translation2.paralink.com/

the only way that is possible is with a lot of backlinks, and they probably pay for a lot of them. It is difficult to build up backlinks, but without them the text on the page is a free approach and works, or at least helps.

No, do not hide the text because google can tell and will penalise your page for “black hat tactics“.

I know it can look a bit cheesey but most people won’t scroll down the page, and if they do, and bother to read the text, its not the end of the world. For my French to English page I wrote about the history ofFranceand the language etc. I cannot imagine that giving a very bad impression.

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0063

Koh-Phangan-Thailand-0_CIMG0063

This for example has no text at all! Are you sure about this? I want a keep a professional yet simple website so that the information is displayed with clarity. Adding 20-40k characters seems somehow counterproductive. Does it have to be “displayed” or is it okay to hide it in the source code? I can’t let you use my postal address as a virtual office for the simple reason that I myself already use an address that isn’t directly mine. I am registered in France but currently live in the UK. I usually move to a different country every 6 months or so to discover new horizons.

Any postal address will help me/us. Without that it does not really make sense for me to spend the time to help you and the other translators push their websites to the top of google when I can spend the time focusing on my own pages. If you move every six months then we can use each address. They send you a postcard, site is verified, and no customer ever goes there. I have “offices” like this all over the world and no one has ever said they are approached by people.

I can put a link on the front page though but I don’t see the point since I already told you I would forward the non English to French work to you. Do you have a banner or something?

The point is that your link to me is a backlink and helps my pages. Hence profit for me to spend the time helping you push up your website. Without that there is very little benefit for me.

Anyways thanks for the tips, I’ll get started with this.

Discussions Concerning Search Engine Optimization

just read your email on my fancy new mobile system: 18 Euro a month for 5 gigs of transfer a month through my mobile. Required a contract and some paperwork, but its for a year and now I’m committed to Bulgaria – yippee! Like the twists and stuff.

Myra-Turkey-where-santa-clause-born-and-died-ruins-0091

Still gotta hook it up to the computer, and can go to internet occasionally to do high power transfers etc.

Feels good to get back in the game and I have a backlog of aLOTof internet stuff i need to do.

Speaking of which, will be fun to start managing these forums. I figure a good forum system would allow me to do the following:
– remove a user with the option of all his posts and be able to block his ip address
– move a submission to another thread etc
– have some sort of protection against automated spam submissions

Otherwise, LET them argue, heheh. Would like to manage it for the traffic and push up the main entry page to the top of google in its category. If some people wanna peruse the various forums, their surfing will only help my overall ratings. Understand that gotta at least put in some effort so that it doesn’t turn to total garbage. Will be fun experimenting with it.

Concerning your google analytics, sounded like you had some good ideas and will study them in greater detail later. If you have any contacts or suggestions I’ll try them. I already researched it a bit and realise that they mostly take around 40%, which doesn’t bother me. The buzzword said that it doesn’t really make sense to get into it until the monthly hits get to around a hundred thousand. At more than a thousand unique visitors a day I’m about a third of that, but once I reach that they were talking about between one and three hundred bucks a month. Better than a kick in the arse and potentially half my monthly costs. So I’m starting to play around with things a bit, while I work on pushing up the traffic, and with that ranking etc.

I find the pages I add some functionality to can generate more traffic. One particular experiment which interests me is to go a bit full throttle with my translation payments site, which will have a forum, then a free database where people can make comments about translation agencies (already exists but I have to manually moderate new submissions – so will require some conversion to save me time), and combine that with my Translation Charges page, which almost at the very top of google. Gets quite a few hits and a useful starting point for translators. If a lot of traffic goes through it could support my Translations etc. keywords a lot, and get a lot of traffic. I started a discussion on another forum and the translators went berserk about the prices I posted as average. Would be funny to get such arguments on mine. All translation related, so only helps my keywords. It’s a hot topic because the Indian are obviously driving the prices down. All part of globalization. the Europeans can be such immense whiners. Power to them that they earn such great prices, while dogs like less charge prices they cringe at and rather not here. Interesting topic and am curious to see how it will go. k

Anyway, a few days ago I was helping a friend find work on the internet and, while on google, I switched the search preferences to find German language websites only. On a browser which I usually use to guage my rankings.

Salamis-Turkish-part-of-cyprus-ruins-0319

Anyway, now I see everything is okay, AFTER I asked for “reconsideration” and told them the only possible blackhat techniques I use that could affect anything. Hopefully I do not wake up the google god monster against me!

——————————–

oh yes, and just thought I’d mention, concerning your comment that I should not have more than ten outlinks from my main entry page, first of all most links are to my sitemaps and only a few to key targeted third party sites.

I would just like to mention that I read somewhere that the main entry page should be more like a table of contents or sitemap because apparently every page should be accessible within two clicks from the entry page. Hence I am hooking up to all my various “sitemaps” at the bottom. Just thought I’d mention it and I am not saying I am right. SEO can be a big guessing game depending on intuition. Glad I resolved the previous problem, heh heh.

——————————–

Otherwise, I’m trying to get motivated for new projects and I am really feeling the lack of motivation.

Trodos-monastery-in-Cyprus_0015

heydo, good to hear from you too and will write more once offline. Gotta squeeze da shit in while I have the chance.

The Stargate dude has a style which sort of goes all over the place, and seems like the style you showed me a few times when you said you liked someone. Twists and turns and all that. Of course depends on the scene.

Concerning “something to do”, one thing that occurred to me is that there is a difference between a producer and a marketer. It is difficult to be both, and I consider myself more the producer, although I’ve been forcing myself to become more the marketer. Cheaper than hiring someone.

Anyway, if you are looking for a project, I would suggest you promote the stuff you’ve already written rather than just keep writing more. Or at least combine it. As they say, you can have the best product in the world, but if consumers don’t know about it, it just becomes a very costly factory in the middle of a desert. I can help you with SEO as much as I can. k

——————————–

this is so goofy I had to share it with someone. I use Opera to check my web rankings, cause I’m logged into my google account for gmail in my google chrome browser. By the way, if you do a lot of surfing it is good to be logged into google because you can remove websites from your searches and it affects all future searches. Like you are voting and I think it will be the way of the future. Anyway, google remembers your own preferences and good to get annoying spammers permanently out of the way.

Yalikavak-Turkey-volcanic-rocks-0076

Yalikavak, Turkey

So I was using Opera to check my rankings and all of a sudden all my pages were totally gone!!! Scared the crap out of me. Read all sorts of articles concerning getting banned by google, looked like it my take several months to get “back online”, and noticed that EVERY one of the domains I manage through my google webmasters account was totally gone. Like they absolutely removed everything associated with me. I would do a search for 001yourtranslationservice.com and even that did not find my site within the only 60 search results. I was DOOOMED. So I wrote to google and asked to have my site “reincluded”, explaining why it might have been removed. Just some very mild nasty tricks.

Shortly after I sent that off I remembered that a few days ago I was helping a girl here find work and that I set the google preferences in Opera to find German language websites only. Fixed that and everything back to normal. PHEEEWWWW!

——————————–

heydo, it just occurred to me, it was nice that you put a link to me from your online database thing, which could send me some work in the future, but it doesn’t really help my rankings because it’s behind the login and google cant get to it (unless you instruct google of the login info as I once mentioned, and then you could place google ads there too).

Myra-Turkey-where-santa-clause-born-and-died-ruins-0092

Myra, Turkey

Anyway, no pressure, but just curious if you’d be into putting a link to my site in exchange for all the SEO tips I’ve given you in the past and expect to in the future. Such as the very modest little link at the bottom right of

http://globalwarming
response.org/

which is at the top of google for the keywords “global warming response”.

I’m primarily interested in supporting my SEO page, as shown at the bottom right of that page. That’s another intelligent and interesting job that could substitute for these boring translations. Once we finish babyfication and then my demo pages, from there I will certainly link to your database/site and will be tweaking that page to get it to the top of google for lumber database etc., so in effect this would be a sort of link exchange. But no pressure!

——————————–

I’m kinda scrounging around and scraping the bottom of the barrels, seeing the scavenger that I am, and was wondering if you’d like to help support my seo efforts. Been looking around for more intelligent and interesting things to do than translate, and SEO consultation is one of them. In exchange for all the SEO tips I’ve given you in the past (although I’m not sure you’ve used any of them), thought it would be nice if you could link to my SEO pages, like on one friend’s I’m helping him with at

Olives-in-Croatia-orchard33

Olive grove in Croatia.

http://globalwarmingresponse.org/

It’s at the bottom right, not big, but the link is more important than anything else.
No pressure though!
How’sBerlinand dohnuts?

I’m still in Bulgaria, in a fire roasting pension for 5 Euro a day, but things are so cheap here I think I’m living for cheaper than in Cyprus and can practically have all the beer I want! (2.5 litre beer bottle going for 1.3 Euro in the grocery store – gotta love it!)

——————————–

not sure if I mentioned this already, but recently implemented a little comment box at the bottom of one of my pages. One strip for the person’s email address, and one strip for the comment. Keep things minimal work for the user. It’s a simple php script within an iframe, so that you can embed it within any html etc. page. Basically like a contact form. So if someone reads one of your articles etc. and wants to comment on it, they don’t have to look for contact link etc. This way its easy for the user and encourages them to add something. If they say something moderately useful, you can then add it to the bottom of the page, keeping it fresh and sexy for the search engines. Very important. Go up to a limit of maximum 40,000 characters for the page. If it goes over that you can start a second page and point the first, pointing to the second from the first. Mutually supportive within the samish keywords. adio

——————————–

hey dude, not sure if I asked you this before, but wondering if you could do me a little favour. You in Francenow? I just got my first French to English translation and decided I’d like to launch a website to help me get direct customers, who could obviously pay more. For my Czech to English translation page

Salamis-Turkish-part-of-cyprus-ruins-0330

Salamis in Turkish Cyprus

http://001your
translationservice.com
/me/CV/czech-to-english-translator.html

I employed a little trick of setting up local google businesses and linking to the page. You will see I have three offices on that page. They’re bogus but it helps put my page to the top of google. The problems is that, even though I’ve been near the top of googe for Czech to English translator and similar keywords for about a year, there just doesn’t seem to be that much demand for that language combination and I don’t get approached with work very often. I’m hoping this will be different for French. So, if you’d be interested in helping me with this, all you would need to do is offer some postal address as a bogus office for me. I doubt anyone’s gonna go banging on your door begging for my services but its just a gimmick I use to get to the top of google. I’ve done this with several pages and no one ever goes to the postal address but they always email me. What happens is that google sends you a postcard to your address, on the back of the postcard is a four digit pin number, you email me the number, I punch it into my account with google, hence verifying that I can use that address. That’s it. The more such addresses I have pointing to my website the higher it pushes me up in the rankings. If you feel uncomfortable about that no probs. latero

——————————–

Then perhaps the best thing to do is to rename the Test folder to something SEO keyword interesting, or just a single letter. Or maybe WP, for example. Based on these results I imagine it WILL stay in all the path names even after moving the files etc. And if you erase the Test folder I imagine it will not work. Then, when you want to go live, simply erase the root index.html file and the lone index.php file should work, since it is a simple redirect. Or I could redirect it correctly, and you won’t have to move or copy all the other files.

south-Turkey-coast-0059

Coast of southern Turkey.

The only problem with that approach is that the default index page, which I assume will be “Home”, will be different than when you actually press Home.

ie-
http://sweetmilk.cz/test/?page_id=1&lang=cz
as opposed to
http://sweetmilk.cz/

But I guess that is just the way WP is set up. This is bad because, in SEO, it’s called cardinal url or something like that. If you have two pages of the same content but with different url addresses, its a smack on the wrist by the search engines. And because its the main index page it could have greater effect. k

Text Drawn from Database to Produce Important Keywords for Google

Discussions Concerning Search Engine Optimization

————————————–

Because of my present share a caravan ride project I’ve gotten around to setting up a sitemap of my sqlite server to properly index the pages throughout google etc., and was wondering if you wanted me to include your files. It occurred to me that you could throw a few pages of text there and link back to yourmadisons and blog etc, to help pump it up a bit. It’s always good to link back to yourself from other domains, especially if you have content related text you are linking from. Just an idea.

——————————–

okay, adding my notes file I’ve worked on so far.

You asked to know what changes I plan to incorporate. The most important is the following:

1) each of your pages looks like this in the “header” (the part the search engines see and what people often see in the “search results”):

<TITLE>STEP – Global Warming Response</TITLE>

This is the same for many pages, and in some it is “untitled document” or something, whereas on mine I have the standard:

<title>Translation Service</title>
<meta name=”description”
content=”Provides a translation service in more than 210 languages, as well as DTP, webdesign, transcription, programming and other online services.”>
<meta name=”keywords” content=”translation,service,translations”>

London-scenery.0017

Pictures of my travels – London.

It is crucial that the title head text is carefully selected and different for each page, and that it matches its keyword content. In the attached Word file you will see important keywords for some of the files, based on its word content (I have a program which spits out a report of the frequency and ranking of keywords for each of your pages).

The description head will often end up on the search results page (in google etc.), but not necessarily, and it helps with the overall results.

The keywords head does too.

Then it is important that the “heading text” at the top of each page (the title of each page that the viewer sees) is proper <H1> format, which it is not on your pages, and that the words for that match the title and keywords of the page, if possible.

You’ll understand it more as I slowly make changes and explain it further, and I can send you a Word file showing the exact changes before I upload if you want.

Myra-Turkey-where-santa-clause-born-and-died-ruins-0088

Myra Turkey.

2) Before I can upload, I need FTP access to your site so I can download all the files and upload when I make changes, or I can forward you my changes and you upload the files for me if you want.

3) Need to think of important keywords to add and pepper to your various pages. The more text the better, and you can always add them way at the bottom of the pages out of regular sight (the viewer would have to purposely scroll down after a big empty space, for example).

So if you can ponder and suggest some important keywords, that would help, otherwise I’ll surf the net and try to come up with some myself.

4) I’d like to see your stats from your webhost provider. Know how to gain access to that? Without that I’m a bit blind, and I’d like to see the affect of my changes.

5) You should have a “mission statement” page where you explain what you wanna do (sell your concepts and that you have additional info already available for each concept), and link out from that from your “About” page etc. So if you can write up some text about that, it’s important so people know what you intend with the site. I’ll add it based on the design of your other pages.

Olives-in-Croatia-orchard13

Olive grove in Croatia.

6) The more text the better, so if you have some related emails that you wrote in the past (like from your Hotmail “Sent” folder, for example), it would be good if you could send them to me so that I can add some pages. They would not be easily visible to the viewers, unless you want them to be.

The text should be “original content” (not already posted somewhere on the web), and the more the merrier.

7) Other things I would do is create the proper sitemaps (important for indexing on google etc.) and submit them to the various search engines to make sure all your pages are properly indexed by the search engines.

One thing I do is, for 50 bucks, you can submit your main index page (the one that appears when you punch in your domain into a browser) to 500 directories. That always helps a lot. I would suggest that. Other important ones I can submit to myself for free. [This no longer applies since Panda and Penguin and it is better to add links slowly so that it looks natural and organic. Every day a little bit.]

Then I’d link to your page from some of my pages to help get traffic to them.

Well, that’s the preliminary first suggestion of changes.

Over to you! p

——————————–

a few days ago my back gave in as I did a slight lift, probably aggravated after a week’s worth of heavy lifting, which my body is simply not accustomed to. Laying in bed for five days now, but at least I could crawl my way to the shithouse. Will get a belt and try to do daily exercises to strengthen my back. Seem to have recurring problems like this, in different places close to my spine after I do some intensive and repetitive sports etc.

Picture-of-beautiful-Czech-girl_0143

Pictures of beautiful Czech girls.

Anyway, at least its given me an opportunity to do a lot of stuff on the computer. One of them is your database demo, which I’m looking forward to putting up once I get yours done.

A thought just occurred to me though: perhaps I could do some timber lumber SEO to my demo page and at the very top write something like:

“This is only a demo presentation. To view the actual lumber database, you must subscribe to the service throughMadison’s Lumber Information Resources <link out to your main page, SEO tweak keywords as usual>.”

By this I assume both of our pages should get to the top of google.

Waddayatink? This way I’m technically taking care of your SEO as well, for free.

If interested it would be good if you could give me your important keywords (or that you are shooting for) – this would focus on the database part only (I want to promote my database services, and shoot to get my demo page to the top in lumber database etc.).

For this it would be best to delve into the mind of the average gumby and think what kind of keywords they might think of when searching for such a database.

My first guesses would be something like:

lumber database
timber database
timber products database
timber products database information resources

etc etc and including all the areas you want to get into the future. Or we could delay those keywords until you’ve actually expanded into them.

Salamis-Turkish-part-of-cyprus-ruins-0315

Salamis in Turkish Cyprus.

We have different domain themes but we could carefully organize things and I think both our pages should get to the top.

It might be a good idea to start with the keywords of future timber areas now, since it takes time for pages to climb up google, and you could put a little blurb somewhere on the page which explains about the database that you are currently working on expansion into such and such other timber related areas. If you get some responses for it, like “Oh oh I just can’t wait until you expand into that area! Please please put me on your email list notifying once the expansion is complete!”, it will give you an idea of demand and perhaps give you the impetus and motivation to expand faster, which can only be cool.

Well, those are my thoughts for today!

——————————–

okay, getting back into the groove – didn’t have so much time while traveling.

So I believe we agreed that I would submit your global warming response site to 500 directories for 50 bucks and notch that towards the debt. But before I do that I need your help with some keywords.

Trodos-monastery-in-Cyprus_0014

Trodos Monastery in Greek Cyprus.

For example, it is not good for all links to globalwarmingresponse.org to always be the same, such as the keywords “global warming response”. So when submitting to 500 directories the company usually suggests as much as 5 keyword phrases.

Obviously one of them would be “global warming response”, I’ve started using “GEO Engineering” from one of my sites cause I noticed you were at the top of google for “global warming response” anyway (no need to support those keywords if you are already at the top of google in them), so can you suggest another three phrases you want to get to the top of? It should be those keyword phrases which you think the people would use who are precisely those you are trying to target (people interested in the field and who might like to buy your idea and sell it). p

——————————–

okay, downloaded a bunch of ebay selling tips, read them, and it seems so far that the way to go is to set up an ebay store, which should go for 16 bucks a month. I’ll squeeze that out of my meagrish earnings and slap that towards debt repayment. The advantage of such a store, if I understand things correctly, is that it just hangs around. I may have to pay something extra for automatic resubmission but not sure. In any case, the most important I believe is that having a store does great things for SEO. Meaning I link from the store to your pages and both are pushed higher on google. I’m trying for GEO Engineering etc. So it has a dual effect.

Yalikavak-Turkey-volcanic-rocks-0060

Yalikavak, Turkey.

Still trying to figure out the bid and reserve price thing etc., but my hunch is that anyone who has a million bucks probably wouldn’t be surfing ebay for ideas, so with the store and its spill over effects to google, it could help. Otherwise I’ve found some sites where the guy said for decaded he’s been trying to sell ideas and no go – you basically have to have confidence in your own idea and jump through the hoops etc yourself. But I’ll still try, cause this is an interesting field for me. So far I think the best angle is to approach GEO Engineering organisations and such and see what they say. Put the ideas out there in targetted forums etc., not just a passive webpage high up on google and ebay etc. You need to find the people youself (my job) and not be passive about it. Just giving ya my take on things from what I’ve researched so far. p

——————————–

Glad ya liked it. I was just looking into the Google Adsense thing, y’know, ads on my website and pay per click. I wanna know how you do it, cuz they say payments are made by mailing paper checks to a home address when you have enough clicks. How do you receive/cash paper checks while living in a van? Also, there are questions about home residence and telephone info. Would like to know how to get around all these formalities and start the adsense thing. Does it actually pay anything worthwhile (or do you have to click on yer own ads 10,000 x, heh)?

Hey dude, I get about a thousand unique visitors (much less than hits) a day and I only managed to make at most a buck a day. Started clicking on my own ads out of frustration but their algorithm caught me and they took my 60 bucks. They send you money once it reaches a hundred. If you get 100,000 unique visitors a month you can try different systems and maybe make 300 bucks a month. I have an account at Bank of America, who can accept cheques on my behalf. Big mission of mine when I was in theUS. Good luck!

——————————–

Noticed my tree planting site has dropped a lot in rankings, and don’t really have other material at the moment to add to it, so am going over the existing pages and polishing them up a bit. Occasional change is good because it keeps the pages sexy and “up to date”, which the search engines like. Keeping this in mind is one of the reasons I let myself be a bit sloppy during my first live draft, so I can go back to it a few times in the future. Now I find myself struggling a bit, and remembered how you were joking about my run on sentences. I occasionally get complaints like that. In any case, I hold so much in my head that I spew it out as fast as possible, according to some general logical path, and then go back in the future and restructure it better. So it improves over time.

Myra-Turkey-where-santa-clause-born-and-died-ruins-0091

Anyway, you might consider this for your old articles.

To beef up my site with more text today I’ve also set up my first forum. Rather excited about it. Supposed to be the most popular and broadly used, and open source and free of course. I will slap it into my treeplanting domain and encourage people to use it. Just more free text for me, hee hee. Similar to the WordPress thing I set up and through which others can add content to my site for me. Why not, let others work for me for free, hee hee. In fact, I let in a certain amount of “spammy” comments to the submitted articles, just to keep the pages fresh and sexy. Been finding that my recently put in WordPress Free Article Submission thing is getting near to my most busy pages, and fairly high on google for Free Submit Article. Therefore I am focusing on it more.

Anyway, just wanted to blab and suggest I could throw up a forum for you on my site for free. Perhaps dudes could discuss things about the industry. Let them blab all they want. You could buy a domain for 10 bucks a year and build it around where your database is on my server now. Let the forum grow within that domain, and choose keywords which would support your own domain. Point between the two. I’ve got about five domains now and I point them between one another. Throwing a forum into some of those domains could turn out to be quite good, generating traffic etc. for each, and each supporting the other ones. latero

Discussions Concerning Search Engine Optimization

————————————–

How have you been? I imagine you stay pretty busy with everything you have going on. I had sent you a DUI Foundation article on the prevention of drunk driving. I had forgotten I sent it until earlier today when I was looking through some files. Any chance you posted that? Thanks for checking!

Actually I’m researching the web right now for a script to help me automate the process of submitting webpages like yours. Not sure how long it will take me but I can contact you once I’m done if you like. I plan to make sure each webpage is a unique url, seo friendly, can be moderated to prevent spammers and so on. I want to make it quality. Feel free to post your article elsewhere if you like.

Wow, you are busy! Your plans for a new addition to your site sound interesting. It’s totally find with me that you haven’t posted it. After all, it is your site and you are doing me a favor by doing so. Therefore, I’m in no position to second guess the material you do and do not post. If you want to wait to post it, and the article script is something you definitely plan on doing, then that’s fine if you wait to post it. However, if the article script isn’t something you will definitely do, or if it’s going to be a few months before it’s up and running, then I would like to have the opportunity to submit the article somewhere else and then write you a new one when you do in fact have the script up.

Basically, I try to keep the articles relatively shorter. I understand you put a lot of time and effort into your webpages and that creating a webpage for a short article may not be worth your time. Most websites don’t create pages as unique as yours so it is worth it for me to keep the articles simple and shorter in nature. It is also more beneficial for organizations like the DUI Foundation (and for the prevention of DUI incidents) if I write a hundred short articles and get them posted on 100 different sites than it is for me to write a few longer articles for only a few websites. The main objective for the DUI Foundation is to get the word out to as many people as possible that they are there to educate and help you. Once someone realizes they exist, they can always visit the website for more information if the article does not include it. Therefore, the article doesn’t have to be a masterpiece by any means.

It’s totally fine if you decide it’s not worth it for you to post it. It happens every once in awhile so I’m used to it. I wouldn’t want to put you in a position where adding content I send you will ultimately hurt your website instead of help it. In most cases, adding article content helps a website. In your case, I can see where a short article might not fit in as well and could possibly work to the disadvantage of the site as far as design is concerned. There is no doubt in my mind that the information is valuable, however. It just might be better suited on a different website, and that’s totally understandable. I should also mention that while I do put time and effort into the articles, I do write a bunch of articles each week, so I tend to only take a few hours on each one. So, if it doesn’t get posted right away, it isn’t a huge deal. In this case, I know you have a good site and that it is put together well so when you said I could submit it, I jumped on the opportunity. That doesn’t mean you have to post it. I just hope it’s okay that you allow me to submit it someplace else if it’s going to be awhile before you post it. Naturally, it only helps prevent DUI’s if it’s posted somewhere for someone to read. I can always write you another one should you want to post one for the DUI Foundation in the future. Let me know what you feel is best for you and your website. Either decision is cool with me and totally understandable. You’ve already posted two of my articles. I am very thankful for that. Thanks again for your help.

yes, quite busy. Recently I’ve started learning php and making dynamic webpages, and have a new project to put a database online, which I find quite enthrawling. I save many of my outgoing emails, because I type fast, and aLOT, and eventually put them up on the web as original content. Organise it by categories and usually about 20,000 characters per page. I have much content to put up and not gotten around to it, and find that the work involved in putting up your little webpages, with the little content it has, is not benefitting me so well, considering the relative investment of time for the small amount of text. But it did make me think I’d like to find a script whereby people can submit their own articles, and add their own pictures etc. How much time did you spend on your last article? Would it bother you to wait until I have the article script up and running?

unfortunately, you’ll have to submit it yourself. I just don’t have the time to manually make pages for submitted articles. I will continue to study and promote this site, and try to make things as simple as possible, and write some instructions if necessary. I think that the most recent submissions get broadcast on the front page, no matter what category they are placed in. I am still learning it myself. The advantage of the categories, as I understand it, is that the names of the categories end up in the permalink, which should help with keywords. The title you choose will also become part of the address of the page you submit. Still learning and I will try to make everything clear in an instructions file, as I tweak it etc.

The blog looks like it’ll work great.

Friend-pictures-of-Thailand_009_29_14

Friend-pictures-of-Thailand_009_29_14

The only suggestion I can think of (which you probably already thought about) is to create an archive list that organizes the articles by month once they start flowing in. That might be easier than separating the articles by category each time one gets posted. Although, I suppose you could create separate categories and an archive list under each category, but you might wind up with 500 categories. As far as adding the article, do I upload/add it myself? Or do you post it? If you post it, do you need me to resend the article?

——————————————-

heydo, had an idea concerning the submission of articles to my site, as one person wanted to submit some and I just didn’t have time to deal with it, after uploading two of his articles. So I started hunting around the web for fancy script, seeing I’m becoming such a php guru, actually paid 10 bucks for one, but before I got that up and running I also installed WordPress, cause I thought I could use that for submitting articles. The dude already submitted his own article, and now I’m learning about wp plugins and themes and all that, and quite amazing. Once I’m done learning with all that I could give you my tweaks if you like. You could use it for the same purpose. The advantage of this is that others actually put up their original content on your site and do basically work for you for free, hee hee. Extra content helps your traffic, and of course you can moderate everything. I’m gonna set it up so that every submitted page will have links to my important pages. Can show it to you once its done. Just downloaded a shitload of plugins, so need to study and install them.

yes WordPress is the darling of web publishing. when I first looked at it last year there was too much I didn’t understand (php etc.) but I could see its value. people I know run their entire website as a blog, using WordPress. when they update their blog, the post appears on their home page in what looks like normal .html. its another very useful thing to learn, for sure. its largely agreed upon to be ‘the way of the future’ (not like other tools, that are already falling behind).

well, not sure the “way of the future” at all. I think it’s good for people who have poor or no html skills and who just want to copy in some text and press “upload picture”, but for real developers, who are behind most of the top streaming websites, something like wordpress is a bit ridiculous because you simply have too little control. The reason why I started using it is because I don’t have the time to upload people’s submitted web content for them, and I want to automate this process and step away from it, like I did with my link exchange site. Yes, I still have to moderate it, but that takes a lot less time than to have to moderate it AND create the webpages etc. For my own travel blog, I still prefer to make the webpages myself, because I can do it quickly, and control things a lot more. But it’s certainly cool learning this wordpress thing and I’m putting together a might nice automated article submission site. As I write this now

I just finished writing up my Article Submission page, written to attract all those dudes out there wanting to submit their various articles to other domains so that they can link back to their own. Big industry in itself. Anyway, hats off to wordpress. Really cool shit. Just another open source thing, and the plugins and billions of geeks spending their free time developing it make it really robust. With free google docs, ubuntu and all that, I can see Microsoft eventually having a problem, because everything will be for free! They already admitted they totally fell asleep on the search engine thing. Google make 26 billion a year from advertising, which is catching up to Micro’s 42 billion, which is from software sales. Will be interesting to see how things develop over the next five years, but pirate me is certainly into free and open source!

oh ya, and one thing just occurred to me. Once you put in that php code which forced the form page to be logged into and not openly available to the public, it will also block the google ads. You should still get money for it, but google wont be able to see the page, so it is possible that the ads will not relate properly to the content. Or if they do relate to the contents, it doesn’t have much useful contents to relate to, such as the postal address of some company. I would suggest you surf your site and look at the google ads and see if it is something interesting which the users might want to click onto. If it is not, then you wont make much money from it, with you? In this case I would suggest you do what I did for one of my pages. At an empty table at the bottom of your first page, with the first row set at a certain large height. This will push the following text well below and out of probably perusing by the user. Then you add a bunch of text pertinent to how you want to affect the google ads theme and to what you think the users will want to click on. Make the text long enough to overcome the dbase results data on the page, and don’t use any spam techniques on it, such as really really small text, or text which is the same colour of the background (hiding it). Google recognises these tactics and will probably penalise your pages in some way. For the first line or two of this text I usually explain to the user, if they happen to scroll down that far, what I am doing and that they can just ignore the text. Once you’re done with that and happy with the results, then go to you account (either its in your google ad section, or your google webmaster tools account) and go through the laborious and slightly painful procedure of telling google what your (some) login and password details are, hence giving it access so that it can read this text. Have fun!

responding to your later email I havent downloaded yet, I’m going to try and make a major addition to my travel blob, concerning Cyprus after treeplanting. Want me to add you to the blob notification thing? Otherwise, for SEO, for a long time I’ve been saving my outgoing emails (since I write so many letters) and organising them into categories, so another option is to read my outgoing travel emails, some of which can be pretty interesting as I tell little tidbit stories here and there, but I’d say overall it won’t be as interesting as the travel blob itself cause you have to filter through less interesting stuff and I usually write it without proofreading. For SEO the more text the better and this has been turning out to be a good strategy. Considering the little amount of time I have to work on my pages they are doing half decently, and should take off once I’m making enough to hire someone fulltime, which I hope to do after I pay off enough debts and if the work keeps coming in as it is. The page I once showed you is pretty high up on google for “cheap travel europe” and “cheap Europe tour guide” and stuff like that, but only got one bite so far. Need to figure out a way how to hook up with travellers occasionally to make my own experience more interesting and to make a bit of cash on the side. Any ideas? I also want to make another php database site for caravanning share-a-ride Europe, which doesn’t seem to exist. Dynamic pages are good because other people add the content and the pages constantly get updated, which is great for seo. Recently been trying to move that direction and keep adding dynamic stuff, but too busy with translations. At least I’m making cash and I work on my projects in between. Recently decided that this will be a good new focus – an interesting strategy whereby I will not even have to deal with customers anymore, and apply my creativity to create webcontent which brings in its own revenues in different ways. Kinda like google or facebook etc. Want to get away from translating and apply my noodle more. Getting too old to still be doing grunt work. laterbro
