Think to Link to the Top of a Google Search Website Page

2013
02.19

now that my big project is over and I’m back to looking for work, I decided to try a different approach and get my new “French to English translations translator” page high up on google. I succeeded with Czech to English, but it seems there isn’t that much google search work out there for that language combination. Perhaps most people just go across the street to their neighbourhood translation agency and asks them, because they trust a secretary they can “smell and feel” rather than some contact somewhere on the internet.

But perhaps it will be different in French to English. A lot more work and I am going to go for it. I think the actual translators start at around the fourth page, agencies at best around the second, mostly third. The rest are dictionaries and free, online machine translations. If people want the real thing they need to go further down the search results. I’ve been focusing on this page and am shooting to get it into the top 20. I’ve managed with everything else I’ve tried for so far (usually in top 1 to 10 or something), so I feel confident with this. I can make the website as an agency or a translator, and have a good proofreader helping me with that. Perhaps you might be interested in some output as well?

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/me/CV/French-to-english-translator.php

It’s a first quick draft, saved from my Czech to English page. I know I’ll be working on it but, for a start, I’ve started the backlinking etc. thing, as I know it takes a while until it has an effect on the search engines (SEs). I’m hoping that I can get to the top 20 in the next few months. I am going all out aggressive on this one page. On pages I’ve gone aggressive on in the past I’ve always succeeded, but I realise this is QUITE a competitive keyword area.

Anyway, sorry for the long wind, but while being aggressive about promoting this page I’ve discovered the importance of backlinking. For a while I’ve been following the below guy’s newsletter, as he was handing out lots of useful, free information. He has been quite for a while and just sent out this:

http://www.linkbuildingdossier.com/

147 bucks and I’m gonna go for it. Since you’re the only person I share all my seo secrets with, I was wondering if you would wanna go halfer. Even if you don’t want, I’ll probably be willing to share this with you for free anyway. Lots to read but this guy has been doing it for 10 years and, after hearing such “bs” from his students, he decided to put out a book. Sounds like a good deal and I’ll go for it. I’m near the top of google for “translation service”, with competition of about 25 million, but I think that most people don’t search for that but rather something like “french to english translation document” etc. Czech to English is in low demand it seems.

Anyway, just a thought, but if you quickly skim through that website from this guy, you will see a lot of areas he is covering, and I think I could glean out a lot of tricks to get lots of traffic to your sites. k

————-

yes, two way, direct exchanges became quickly popular, and subsequently abused and used by everyone, which is why google tweaked their algorithm to discount or negate them. When you think about it its pretty obvious and easy for google to remedy. But three way links are much more difficult for google to discern. I therefore always try to point to you from a DIFFERENT domain than you are pointing to me. I already proposed using my directory kenax.net, as I have a category which seems to fit the theme of your site I would be pointing to. Having similar themes is also very important when linking. If you don’t like that proposal I can think up something else for you. There is lots to learn with seo (search engine optimisation) and it is constantly changing, because the spammers are trying every trick possible to get to the top, while google is adjusting its algorithms in a sort of war against the spammers/cheaters, to keep the search results honest and useful for the regular user.

I can link directly back to you, but I’ve been studying search engine optimisation for years and everyone says that direct, 2-way linkbacks are much less powerful because google can easily see that we are exchanging links and hence it is fabricated and not “organic”, so they are highly (or completely) discounted in their algorithms. I have PR2 links I can link to you from, if that is the problem. Let me know your thoughts.

thank you for the linkback. Trying to figure out where is a good place to put your link. Would something like this be okay? http://kenax.net/recip/Society_and_Culture/Employment/index.html

I only link to sites that link back to me from the same site that I’m linking to. If you cannot link back from the same site that I linked to please let me know … and I’ll remove the link to your site. Thanks so much, Luke http://www.colorwize.com

Thank you for this wonderful step. I’ll send the PIN code as soon as it gets to up me here. Maybe I should consider having second thoughts about having a website? I must have heard you say you were a web designer too? From the pages I visited during the JD project I admit that you must be a very good one indeed. So, I would like you to tell me how much it may take for you to design an attracting and rich website for us. You can design it in English, and make available some tabs for 2, 3, or 4 other languages. I’ll then translate it into French, and have a translator for German (my third working language), Spanish…A dynamic and attractive website in short… I was actually looking for the contact of your fellow countryman whose name is Rotislav Kavan. He’s a very good web designer who happens to have taught me basics of web design using HTML and CSS…and some Computer Assembly and Maintenance…I saw him designing a website for a friend, and I really liked his patience and dedication, and sense of beauty. I could not find his contact at all, and you make me think of him, if you could do me that favor… The second request is the following: I’m still on SDL Trados 7x. Is there anything I can do to rely on you for a more recent version if you don’t mind? Such action could really improve our competitiveness as we proceed to create the website. If it’s a bad request, just forget about it…I feel so close to you that I always speak out my mind whenever you’re around. Again thank you so much for all you’ve done for me this far. See you later.

I think the best option is if I teach you how to do it yourself because it can be pretty time consuming work. You can then spend time on the details. I can help you in some ways. We’ll see. You can take any page you like on the internet, right mouse click, “View Source”, and then save that, with all the pics, and use it as a template – replacing their text with your own text. My pages are simple to copy. Other pages can be too complex.

Then there are sites you can use to create html pages, based on templates. Very nice stuff, sometimes you can find free services.

For other languages of your website, it is potentially problematic because google works on a per language basis. If you bought a domain and hooked it to my site, you can have translator.com, and then put a spanish page on sp.translator.com (subdomain). You separate things like this for google, and the languages do not interfere with the search results. To get to the top you need a lot of text in each language, but it does look nice for visitors if you have different translations.

Don’t know the Czech guy you mentioned. Try a google search, or perhaps seznam.cz, or facebook.

I have an older version of Trados than you.

Pages that Link to Translation Work Pay Well on Google

Discussions Concerning Search Engine Optimization

Dear Sir or Madam , I work on a website that offers translation services; for example, legal contracts, official documentation and website translations and after perusing your website I am keen to host an advertisement on your site http://www.kenax.cz/ . I would be interested in placing a one-page advertisement on your website. I will provide a unique text for this advert that will be created by our professional writer for your site, in accordance with your editorial guidelines. It would be fantastic to hear back from you about this. I look forward to your reply.

I’d like to point out that the two pages you have chosen are linked to from pretty well all of my 700 plus pages. These two are some of my most important pages and I’d like you to reconsider your discount.

This is my first time doing this and I’ve spent the last several days studying link exchanges. Did you say you wanted a link out from within my existing text or something (it is no problem for me to add more text, since I write fast and a lot), or is this a banner ad on the side? Do you pay one year in advance? Or can we break it down by month so I can try it out and see if it will negatively affect my rankings? Although I assume not because the two pages I would be linking to are translation related and have a fairly high PR.

Would you consider more outlinks on other pages? All my pages are original content text, and I have recently started focusing on monetising them, where for a few years I was focusing more on the writing aspect and interlinking them. Do you have any suggestions how I can proceed? During my readings the last few days I learned that a lot of link exchange packages, especially those which use scripts and link out to spammers or something, can severely negatively affect my overall PR. Especially after some recent google upgrade. So I want to be careful. Obviously if some of these packages negatively affect my PR the outlinks I will have sold to you will become less attractive, for which reason your help would be appreciated.

Let’ have another link in this page: http://001yourtranslationservice.com/translating/translation-tips/translation-tips.html Place me links in the upper part of the website. About the price I want some discount in the price, as links are now going to be placed in the inner pages not in the homepage. I will pay you US $ 250 for 3 links, this is little bit compromise and I think you will accept this. For now let’s know me your thoughts.

Okay, how about these: http://001yourtranslationservice.com/ translating/translation-tips/translation- tips.html Number one on google for Translation Tips, PR2 You mentioned http://www.kenax.cz/ – Translation Agency, PR3, I could also suggest: http://001yourtranslationservice.com/ translations/translation-resources.html 19 on google for Translation Resources, PR2, http://001yourtranslationservice.com/ translations/translation-jobs.html PR2 http://001yourtranslationservice.com/ translating/languages/languages-of-the-world.html PR2 http://christ.kenax.cz/ PR2 – but I guess that isn’t educational related enough Other PR2 pages you might consider: http://001yourtranslationservice.com/kenax/Translators/Resources/TimeZones.htm http://kenax.net/submit-add-url-suggest-website.html >

Show me site that will have content specific and will Have minimum pr 2 . Yes the price was US $ 100 per year .

Subject: RE: Interested in placing one Full page advertisement I work as a third party for my clients. All are Education clients.

Hi Harry, so six outlinks in total was it? Three from kenax.cz and three from the Translation Tips? I’d rather not link out from the main 001 page because I am trying to get high in Translation related keywords with that particular page. Did you say a hundred dollars per year per link? I can also link out from http://kenax.net/companies-and-services/education/ a directory I’ve started which I am using for link exchanges. No charge but just a link exchange? I am also developing individual pages for each language, which seems education related.

I will want the links to be placed on this : http://001yourtranslationservice.com/ and if you will not be interested in linking me from this page you can link me from this inner page also http://001yourtranslationservice.com/translat ing/translation-tips/translation-tips.html . For now let me know how much is your expectation per link per year. Waiting for your reply on this .

pictures-of-Thailand_034_4_01

pictures-of-Thailand_034_4_01 (Photo credit: tree planting)

What would the ads promote? I am a bit pensive of adding it to my main entry page, as it may affect my keyword rankings, but it is possible. I also own the sister site at the bottom of this page (http://001yourtranslationservice.com/) and that has beneath it roughly 700 pages of original text. Are you only interested in the main entry pages? I spend almost full time on SEO and hope to give the various pages an html facelift. Eventually have others doing this work for me.

This will be a text link and not a Banner. The text link having 2 to 3 words maximum. And for this I will pay you per link/year US $ 100 and if you agree to this price then I will place 2 or more links . For now let me know your thoughts ..

I am starting to get regular requests Oh Karel I’m so glad. I would hate to see you lose all the work you’ve done over the decades in building the translating company. I wasn’t really sure where you were going with all the SEO and alternate websites and stuff. I always considered the translating your bread and butter, and was worried you may be letting go of it to focus on other things. So this is really great, and I hope it grows into a steady flow of income! It’s Friday, so I’ll drink a beer for you tonight.

Right on and thanks. Yah, the SEO stuff was precisely a way how to find my own customers, especially international ones, so that I don’t have to rely on those dork Czechs, who always tear apart my translations and nickpick over bullshit and small points. They simply do not like letting me translate loosely and try to get me to translate Czechglish and closer to their sacred original, which is professionally insulting to me and which I refuse to do. Dealing with them can be a pain, I’m sick of their smugness, and many times they just don’t pay. So this SEO stuff was aimed at freeing myself from them. Especially stupid Czech translation agencies, which are the worst of all. I’m done with their stupid mentality. But while doing and learning all this stuff, it occurred to me that I could make money from it too. It has definitely been an interesting learning experience, and I feel that once I click in high enough on google, orders will be coming in all directions at once: translations for me, translations for my other translators, DTP, SEO, webpage design, programming… you name it.

I’ve been masterminding it this way for several years, but you can imagine there was a lot to learn and experiment with. I imagine that many people must have thought I’m just wasting my time, but they just don’t see what I see, or the vision and overall strategy in my head. When I try to explain something like this to Jana and mom, they just roll their eyes, see that I have tattered clothes, and cant see anything beyond that. “He’s not making money, so he must be simply wrong.” Naïve and simple way of looking at things, but then again, for two people who I must have spent 3 days teaching how to copy/paste, or in the case of Jana, repeat over and over and over and over again how to check her email, I can only forgive them their ignorance. It’s not their fault. So I just quietly work away, as any perservering entrepeneur does, and wait for the day when my vision becomes reality, and then all the little folks around say, “congratulations. How did you do it? Connections through your daddy or something?”

+0200 Subject: success! cau dudes, had to share this with someone. So it seems that my Czech to English translations translator CV page is now near the top of google, ranking for example something like 6th for “Czech to English translator“. I am starting to get regular requests so I will focus more on this page, because I stopped about a month ago. Hopefully it will get higher. Now that I am getting requests from people in the west I can slowly start considering to raise my prices. People in the west are generally much happier with my service, because they know what English is supposed to sound like and are not dorks like Czechs who may know some English and complain that I have translated “so loosely”; and most importantly, they’re not assholes and most of the time actually pay me. So my plan now is to focus on this page more to get it higher. Once and if I start to get a lot of work, I will keep focusing on this, and eventually take some of my earnings to pay people to do the same for the billion other language combinations my agency offers, now that I know how to do it. A long term and expensive project but well worth it. This is a strategy I developed while treeplanting. Simple and practical. I guess for the past two years I’ve been focusing on my main translation page, which is in a much more competitive bracket. Even though I have gotten fairly high on google for “translation service”, it is better for me to focus on less competitive keywords like “Czech to Polish” or “German to English translations“, and work from the bottom up. Once the individual pages get high up in their individual keywords, by each of them pointing to my main page everything will slowly climb upwards in all the important keywords. A lot of work but I see the other big companies are doing the same thing. The important point is that I get translations for me, so I can build on something from the bottom. I don’t like the work but I can make good money at it, and then pay some expats etc. in Prague orShanghai to work on the other pages, because it really is a lot of work. Anyway, just wanted to share this latest success. latero

oh my goodness, I just did a random check and was shocked to find my 001yourtranslationservice thing number one on google for the keyword “translation service”. Can you check how it looks on your end? Seems like my strategies are working. Anyway, started downloading a bunch of software and think it will only get better. Also some ebooks on the subject. If I make money one day will buy the software that I found useful. Anyway, really curious all that I will learn and accomplish over the next month.

mmmm, sorry man, on google.ca you’re on the middle of page 5 (which is still pretty good, I mean you’re competing against Google Translate and stuff), but for google.com you’re right at the top of page 3 which is pretty fantastic. [Turns out that I must not be logged into google to yield the same results for others, so use a different browser, like Opera for example, to research this alone. Never follow/click on any of the results, otherwise that browser too will start to remember what you like and distort the results accordingly.] I’m off to Cancun for just a few days very early tomorrow morning, back at midnight Wednesday. Won’t be checking email or doing anything remotely work-related while I’m gone.yeahyeahyeahyeahYEAH fun and sun for me!-Keta From:

Global Warming Website

2012
05.29

Working with a friend on his global warming website, which offers various solutions how to deal with the problem.

I spent a year helping a friend with some of his reconstruction projects throughout Europe(I also helped look for construction chicks to help us). He’d find some property in the mountains ofBulgaria or other place throughoutEurope, buy it from the owners as it was rather deserted, but because he is a structural engineer he can tell if the old, stone house has good structural integrity on which to build.

He sold his business to invest in this instead, but since he previously helped governments organize their mega projects, he worked to help the world global warming problem on the side as a pet project. I helped him with that as well and below is some correspondence concerning it.

————————

cau dude,

in Letna beergarden working on your stuff and its nice out here.

Was thinking that it would be a good idea if you could provide me with a resume and info about your previous consulting company, so that it could give some credibility to the ideas you wanna sell, and a little blurb explaining that the ideas once sold can be provided with detailed plans etc. I could whip up a webpage(s) based on the text you send me. I think it would help sell it, otherwise it sorta just looks like a website talking about how things should be or something.

I’d also like to make some changes to the navigation structure. For example, I’d like to add some text “Read a story about this project in realisation!”

Some eye catcher and marketing stuff to convince the people to read further. Now the “Vision forPolynesia” etc. doesn’t really sound enticing or give a hint what’s behind the click. I think my sister could put some good input regarding this once I make some of my own changes. So basically asking if you’re okay with that, or if you have some other wording you would suggest etc. poop

Carbon offsets

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8378592.stm  – where the money goes

Emissions since 1750 comprise of just over half a trillion tonnes of carbon (you can keep track of the number, and the countdown to the release of the trillionth tonne, on the trillionthtonne.org website).

This is estimated to have caused just under 1C (1.8F) of global warming (other things affect global temperature as well but, as it happens, their effects more-or-less cancel out over this period).

So if we release another 500 billion tonnes, we commit the Earth to a most likely warming of about 2C, which is widely regarded as the threshold for dangerous climate change, and a rubicon that governments of G8 countries and other major economies pledged this year not to cross.

If these trends continue, which is a relatively conservative “business-as-usual” scenario, we will release the trillionth tonne sometime in the 2040s – a date that is steadily advancing, as the underlying trend is for faster growth in recent years.

If governments are seriously committed to limiting global warming to less than 2C above pre-industrial temperatures, then must preserve the “trillionth tonne”, not just until 2020 or 2050, but until the whole issue of climate change is ancient history.

Global Warming

——————-

hey dude, an idea popped in my head and thought I’d mention it. Hope it will not anger you.

In your Word letter to everyone you mentioned that no one was interested in helping you with your global warming idea, so you dropped it for the time being. I’d like to point out that I spent a lot of time making your website more seo friendly and studying the ebay idea, and didn’t charge you anything for any of that. I also sent you many emails with proposals etc. but I can’t remember you responding to any of them.

I also remember how you once reduced my labour wages retroactively but said you will continue to pay me the same rate for computer related stuff, even though I wasn’t doing that work for you.

Anyway, after these thoughts rummaging through my head, it occurred to me that perhaps you would like me to continue. If you do, I would propose continuing with the same agreement whereby a percentage would be used to pay back my debt to you, and the rest would be chump survival change for work which I could do in my spare time. Overall, work is picking up for me and I’m managing well enough, and slowly paying back my even greater debts now, but I could always find the time to squeeze in a little work for you. But, after carefully studying the ebay concept and reading other people’s experiences, I became rather convinced that this wasn’t the correct approach. But I could try whatever approach you would like to shoot for. In any case, kind of doubt that there will be funding in the world for such grandiose ideas. I see another bubble in the making and my conspiracy birdies tell me a second, even larger and more catastrophic crisis is in the making. Nevertheless, I can tweak your pages and help generate more traffic for them, or look into what is necessary to get funding from Richard Brandson, or whatever. Just to mention, recently I bought a book how to generate traffic to a website and picked up a lot of tricks, which I will slowly apply to my own pages. It’s rather labour intensive but effective. Anyway, just a suggestion. adio
