Please find below the total of my hourly work:
8 + 9 February: $261 (9 ½ hours, $27 per hour), testing of filter
15 + 16 February : $54 (2 hours, $27 per hour), testing of glossary
TOTAL: 11 ½ hours = $315
The accounting file is fine.

Kristof.
the file was uploaded successfully. We know about the source, it is awfull and we were told about it by every single translator. But we have to work with what we were given.
Please, let me know if you can start working at the second file right away to deliver it today or at least tomorrow. We are having a deadline on Monday and your file has to get through another round of checking by that time. So we just cannot affort waiting the whole weekend.
Also let me know the hours you’ve spent for 121-135 file

Please send me your Extra hours report for JD. Extra hours hasn’t been calculated yet.

I have just uploaded 211-225_sr1.xls (1 hour)

Your original rate for Kenax was 25 USD/hour. It was eighter stated when you applied for joining the project, or you agreed with Karel later- not sure. Now you’re counting your hours 27 USD/hour. Are you sure you’re not mistaken?

Okay, got it 😉

Hi
Actually, my initial rate for this testing was 20 EUR per hour which was 27.48 USD at the time. Karel asked me to stick to USD so I charged 27 USD. Please see the attached file for reference. If you want, I can forward this email to you. Just let me know where to send it.
But I just noticed that there is a mistake, 11.5 x 27 USD is 310.50 USD and not 315 USD. Sorry for this.

Carine.
Need your help to polish Accounting JD. The file of question is 14 extracts. Maybe you have some notes and could say me how many words you translated for this file.
Also check the accounting file Karel sent and let me know if there is anything wrong.
Plus, if you have extra hours for JD send me the report as well.
Please, submit a new ticket in Reports and accounting category to continue this conversation.

Hi
I uploaded the spellchecked files 45-60 (1 hour spellchecking time)
I could take on some more to do tomorrow.
———————-
Please, do this file next:

Carine
Then don’t pay an attention to 14 extracts. The word count will be corrected for final accounting.
Don’t forget to send extra hours if you have any.
Can’t say anything about new French projects at the moment. We have a hope to get French part for BOI. We’ll definetely let you know once we get anything.

Script’s there.
Make a new folder.
Put the VBS script there.
Put the S&R list as Terms.xls
Put the file to be searched as a single column xls file (that is, German only). Script only looks at first column. Name the file Translation.xls
Double click to run it. It should tell you when it starts and when it’s done.

Okay, Britta.
Karel has approved this rate. 11,5 extra hours are added to accounting.
———————-
Thank you
you’ll have them back tomorrow.

!
Have you received the accounting file for JD? The discount you offered wasn’t applied yet. I need you to confirm that you still agree with substracting of 12 hours from your proofreading hours. If yes-I’ll apply that for final counting.
Also I ask you to check the file Karel sent and tell me if anything is wrong or missing.
Plus, send me your extra hours report if there is any.
Please, submit a new ticket in Reports and accounting category to continue this conversation.

Having had a look at the file, I think it is much shorter than the previous one (more cells but but less words).
I am starting on it now and will do my best to deliver it still today but tomorrow at the latest.
For the prevoius file I think I spent many hours but I think this is my fault as I was checking too carefully really and and probably worrying too much.
So I would be happy if we can agree on 300 minutes spent on the first file, if it was ok for you…?

Kristof, after looking at the file 121-135, we discovered that the English text seems to be corrupt in a particular way. That is, long segments got cutoff in the middle, probably at the 256 characters mark.
I’m surprised that you didn’t specifically tell us about this.
Anyway, the German side seems to be okay. However, I don’t speak German and I want your opinion on this. Is the German side okay? If it is, then we will replace the English side with the original English source text and proceed.
Anyway, check your current assignment too. If you notice a similar thing, let us know right away.

pretty much from the beginning the client has told us not to use the gender signs in the German translation and to instead replace them with (M) and (W) respectively. Did you forget?

I’m sorry about that. That must have gone past me.

We’ve run into a strange bug where cells somehow has their content cut off at 256 characters. We don’t know what causes this yet and we’re still trying to track down the culprit.
If you run across this bug, please stop and let us know and we’ll give you the correct, uncorrupted file.

Hi
I thought you knew about the cutoff rows in the 121-135 document and that it would not matter because you wanted the spellcheck only and maybe didn’t give the full English text to prevet spellcheckers fiddling around with the German translation because they think they can find better translations… sorry, my bad thinking. I didn’t really need the English text as I concentrated on spellchecking only, as requested.
However, the German text is all right and no German segment is cut off, otherwise I would have noticed. The German sentences are all complete.
The current file seems all right, the cells are much shorter. No corrupt English rows found.

Hi
just finished and uploaded 106-120_sc_sr1_checked_seb.zip to PR. There seem to be no 255 char cutoffs.
Now starting on 76-90. I opened it and scanned over it, it seems no 255 char cutoffs either.
One translation issue, but I don’t think this is a frequent term:
“Dryland Sunflower Roots” has been translated “Trockenland-Sonnenblume”. Needs to be “Trockenland-Sonnenblumen-Wurzeln.”
