I had just received evaluation of your file 9b from the proofreader. The proofreader found that the file contained multiple grammatical and spelling mistakes and was overall bellow the quality required for this project.

We expect translators to deliver proofread and spellchecked files.

Please improve the quality of the delivered files starting from the one you are working on right now. I would like to remind you, that this project will be followed with others of a similar scale. We will continue working only with translators who proved their capacity of providing a high quality work.

To assist you, I had uploaded the proofread file to the files server. Please enter to FTP folder -Files for repairing folder. Your file is 9b.rar. It contains both the proofread file in Excel format and a compared word file, which shows the changes introduced by proofreader in a clearly visible manner. Please use these files as reference for your future work.

Please note that the proofread file had not been vetted yet, therefore it may contain some glitches originating in transferring the file from Transit to Excel.

I started working on the spellcheck.

I noticed inconsistencies with the project guidelines in file 8f. There are accents on capital letters.

I also spotted inconsistencies with the glossary.

“Velonus” appears in the French glossary, but the translator added an accent (“Velonus”).

Some place names are inconsistently translated (“Surging Stockade”)in the different files.

Please let me know what to do with these issues.

Please proofread and correct. We can not send it like this. I will inform . I am finishing for today, so I will see the files and your comments, which you can leave in my comments file, tomorrow. Please upload them back to OT.

uploaded to CS some dictionary files, as guideline to proofreaders. This is in response to your request. May-be it can help with the inconsistent translations.

While translating the last file, I came over what is for me a big mistake. The expression “Cast time” has been translated as “Duree du sort”, which means spell duration. Cast time refers to how long it takes to cast the spell, not how long it last. So I think a correct translation (only a suggestion) would be “delai de lancement du sort”. It’s quite long, but I can’t come up with something shorter.

What do you think of this?

Thanks

Joannie

It seems you are right. I will pass your comment to the lead translator.

One question

Would you have time to spellcheck 2 French files? The files need to be spellchecked and some small issues which came up during vetting need to be resolved.

Do you think you could do it today?

I received new instructions on vetting. So we have to change ~55~ into & in original text too.

Yeah, no problem, you just have to send them!

It’s only for a spellcheck?

Thanks

I stumbled over another mistake. Cooldown has been translated as “refroidissement”. However, we are not refering to the cooling of an engine, but to the time span needed to recover the use of the skill or else. Therefore, another translation should be found. I just can’t find someting… Maybe “Temps de recuperation”?

Thanks

would you please ask the translator of file 18a to go through his file again and correct all the tags. I stopped proofreading it because I first wanted to ask you if I should do it or if it will be send back to the translators. He/she ignored the tags completely and didn¢‚¬„¢t leave them at the former position which in my opinion is wrong because if for example it is:

This vicious attack deals extra damage.

Then the tags stand for a numbere¦but the translator ignored the tags completely and put all the tags at the end of each sentence. Of course I can correct that but I¢‚¬„¢m not sure if would want me to work on one file for hours because of this.

Let me know what to do with that file.

Best wishes

I vet and uploaded these files via FTP. I uploaded reports on vetting here on CS.

Why am I not surprised? This translator is already repairing some files.

It is obvious that she was working with hidden tags. You are right, you should not do it. I am going to tell her to repair the file right away.

I had just received a message from a proofreader who was working on your file 18a. You had completely ignored the tags and collected them in the end of the sentences. Please start working with “Show short tags”! You can activate this function by going to View – display/hide attributes.

Please activate this function and repair the file. It is very important that translator will follow the instructions for this project. This is already a second file I need to return to you. Please read instructions again, and try to stick to them. Tags must remain in the same position in sentence or around same word as in source.

If something is not clear, ask me here or on OT and I will help you. But these file returns cost lot of time – yours, proofreader’s and mine, and I am really dissatisfied with that.

Please confirm receipt.

Thank you, files received.

Do you have time for 2 more?

I vet and uploaded these files via FTP. I uploaded reports on vetting here on CS.

Yes, to spell check and to resolve few issues we are not sure about.

If you can do it, please open a ticket on OT (http://translationstop.com/OT/) and I will upload the files there.

I am sorry, but I can do more files only tomorrow.

I had received proofreader’s comments on two files you completed. He expressed overall satisfaction with your work, so way to go!

You can download the comments file on the usual file server where you download your assigned files. Got to folder FTP – subfolder “Comments and files”. Your file is “Proof 11b and c”.

I can’t lock into the other link you sent as it doesn’t accept my user ID 12975 and my password Scherg. Don’t know why!

File 18 a was misaligned when I first sent it back. I have already repaired it so please make sure that you are working with the repaired version.

Have the proof reader tell me in which segment he/she thinks the problem is. I double checked with showed tags the source and the target text and I can’t see any problem.

Thank you. Yes this was the first long file I translated, and it was pretty difficult as it was only made of expressions, which can sometimes be very difficult to be translated into French, although I did many searches on the internet I didn’t find everything, that’s why I prefered to left some segments untranslated instead of doing a litteral translation which doesn’t mean anything.

We will see what the proofreader say about my more recent translations, but I think it’s really better now, I’m trying to take care of every detail.

I just remembered about some additional important information proofreaders should know about. These are related to character stats so it’s important that we are all consistent with their translations.

Could you please forward this list to all the proofreaders / translators ?

This list contains all the basic character stats I can think of right now and the corresponding translations that have been used so far. It is most likely incomplete so if you come across new terms or would like to discuss the existing translations, please do make sure to forward them to so that we can all share them and keep a decent level of consistency.

I understand that there are much harder files. I am glad you are making research for the right translations.

I am receiving now reports almost on all proofread files, and I will forward them all to translators.

I believe these comments can help recognizing weaker points.

I will sure forward it to , and he will send a mass mail.

I have a question myself – is there an agreed number format? I know french is opposite to English, so period is for separating digits instead of comma. But I am seeing in the files either no period at all, or left comma, obvious inconsistency. Is there some agreement for this project?

Additionally I am finding lot of terminology inconsistency. I’m not sure what to do with that.

—————————-

On the other one you don’t need to login. You click on “Submit ticket” and just submit a ticket. Login is for people who had already opened tickets and want to check on their status.

The problem with your file is not alignment, but location of the tags. You are obviously working with hidden tags, and therefore, you just don’t see them. In your file tags are just relocated to the end of the sentence, while their position should be retained correspondingly to the English source. I really suggest that you will read again guidelines on working with tags.

Please enable “short tags” and try to repair the file.

Actually we do use commas in French instead of periods. Let me give you an example:

Ten million

English: 10,000,000.00

French : 10000000,00 or 10 000 000,00 for clarity (I think)

Could you please tell me more about the terminology issues you mentioned?

With many thanks

I hope you are well and that everything is fine.

I just sent my file 8e to . Sorry it took so long, but I was busy outside of this project.

Comments on this fle are mum:

1. Please take the following out of the dictionary: “one”, “two”, etc. and “you”, which is more troublesome than anything else

2. I found that the translation of student by “etudiant” was not the most appropriate. I think we would more easily use eleve or disciple in this context

And that’s it! 🙂

—————————-

In every fileSunstreamCityis translated differently. In some – just Sunstream, in other -SunstreamCity, in other – Cite de Sunstream.

Archilord – also some versions. Now I vet a file where Hall of Excellence was translated not as in dictionary.

I can not be sure what is about other terms.

With last files I sent them to for spellchecking, he repaired theSunstreamCityto Cite de Sunstream. But it is everywhere.

As to numbers, what I meant is that one translator left 2,000, meaning two thousand, as it is in English.

Actually we do use commas in French instead of periods. Let me give you an example:

Ten million

—————————-

Yes I have noticed some of these too, it’s a good thing we can finally deal with it.

ForSunstreamCity, I think the best choice is simply “Sunstream”

InFrancewe don’t talk aboutNew York City, we talk aboutNew York, etc. It’s just that the translators blindly followed the English pattern here.

For Hall of Excellence, Crystal Hall etc. I have seen plenty of translations too.

To keep it simple I think it’s best to use “Hall” in French too (it is in the French dictionary).

2,000 should be written 2000 in French

Please feel free to inform Jean about these and the other proofreaders (if there are others).

With many thanks

I just checked files 9a and 9n, and you did an excellent quality precise job. Way to go!

From now you don’t need to write in comments if you replaces ~55~ or a missing space/period, comment only what you want me or the translator to check.

How much time did these two files take to vet?

I’ve uploaded these files via FTP and uploaded reports here on CS.

just sent 18 a repaired to . Hope it finds the approval of the proof reader. I also checked the proper names according to the updated dictionary. I hope that I don’t have similiar faults in the other files. If I do, please make me aware. I know now where the problem is and try to avoid it in the future.

—————————-

I forgot to explain with the previous message, that when you see an abbreviated word in the sentence, like “d. hervorrag.” it is because the game limits proper name to 31 characters including spaces. Therefore translators were forced to abbreviate. It is not a problem we need to address.

I’ve uploaded these files via FTP and uploaded reports here on CS.

I will know now that it is an abbreviation.

I am glad that I vetted these files good. It took me one hour or a little more for each file.

I will forward these to.

I just remembered about some additional important information proofreaders should know a—————————-

I‚´ve found some typos in the Main1 Dictionary:

Esper Mystic Qinn = Esper-Mystikerr Qinn (must be: Esper-Mystiker Qinn)

Jadeon Herald Khers = Jadeon-Herald Khers (must be: Jadeon-Herold Khers)

Metaphysician Yass = Metaphysker Yass (mustbe: Metaphysiker Yass)

Esper Mystic Snue = Esper-Mystiker Snue (female: Esper-Mystikerin Snue)

Guardian = Wachter

Sentinel = Wachter

This is one translation for two terms. Maybe we can use “Wachposten” or “Wache” for the term “Sentinel”.

greetings

I am translating a file (19f) at the moment in which the word “Kingyo” appears. I can see that is has been translated as “Kunigyo” – however, I found out that Kingyo is actually a proper name for a Japanese art of (making?) goldfish… the word “Kunigyo” does not exist on Google. I know you probably already sent files off with this, but in case you haven’t, I thought it could be worth mentioning.
