Glossary Terms Proofreading Dictionary Translated

There were over 1000 changes in the glossary. Too much to be handled individually.

Regarding the files you are proofreading and the new glossary, use the filter to skip all the pre-translated segments and concentrate on the translator’s edited parts.

For the pre-translated segments, my plan is to redo the repetitions file and then reinsert them when the files are back.

Hi

thank you for the update, I will now continue to proofread. I expect to get it done today, after which I would be happy to take on a new assignment.

———————-

in some of the cells, I have N/A, and I am not sure if it is part of the code, or part of the translation, here is an example:

N/A haha
N/A 个人任务计数

Should I translate N/A do you think? In French it would be S/O.

Please re-proof 03_reps. Client requested that the terms in the glossary be shortened so that it’s about the same length as the English. This is because the space in the game windows is limited. We complied. Between that, the corrections, and updates over 1000 terms were changed between last week’s glossary and today’s.

I have incorporated all the changes (I think), myself, but someone need to go through this and check for conjugation, hyphenation, and stuff like that. Since you did this earlier for this file, I think it’s probably fastest if you do this. If you can get it done within 1-2 hour, great. I can then reinsert the reps to Jan’s files and then turn those to you again for proofreading.

PS: Glossary in Excel file can be found in the above directory too. Just look for the zip file.

” Don’t translate the N/A. As far as I know they use the N/A as a marker for the software so it will skip them. If you change that to S/O either the customer will have to adjust the software or else it will start reading the entries and get confused.

ok, I leave as is. ”

I finished file 7i. It still took me more than 2h but I wanted to give it a try and I want to keep on working on that project.

Just for understanding, you want me to re-proof 03_reps and go through the latest glossary file again, right?

In 03 rep “charm” is used inconsistently throughout the file (translated as Amulett/Zauber/…) This should be ironed out in the glossary asap. Shall I do that or is  going to have a look at it?

” Here it is. ”

The entries in the Transit dictionary and in the Excel glossary differ and also within themselves there are some inconsistencies. I think the Transit dictionary has priority.
Can you please clarify?

Hi

I finished proofreading 203-205.

Before I upload, I have some questions:

1. In 205, I noticed tag-protected segments (status: Checked 2) which still contain English words. Here is an example:

>
<tr/>
<td width=”1600″/>
<p fid=”18″>N/AAchilles&apos;s Sword

Should I do anything about these, or leave them be?

2. There are still a few duplicates / inconsistencies in the glossary. I attached a short list to this post. Unless noted otherwise, I did always use the Glossary translation (even when I didn’t agree with it), BUT in some cases, I had to decide between duplicate entries. Please let me know whether you want me to change anything about these terms in my file before I deliver it, or whether I should just use my own judgement.

———————-

I noticed that you had uploaded files 7e and 7f twice. Which is the updated version?

———————-

sorry for that, both versions are identical, just uploaded them twice, you can delete one.

PD I’m working on 15a,g,h, and 17e,i,s, right now. Is there still time to complete them?

———————-

There are sometimes comments in the third column, should I leave them? (they are not always referring to what is in the translation, so can’t be resolved by me).

We have time till Wednesday. As much as you can do – all yours. Please check if you have access to Accounting Google Sheet (GS): https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tl1axNbeor3f9JWptXigIhg&hl=en#gid=1

There you can see who translated which files. I have much less idea about quality of files then you. Therefore if you recommended which files require more attention, it would be great.

———————-

These are comments from vetting. Please address (i.e. correct if is necessary) the comments and delete them and the red background. The files you deliver should be clean.

Carine

Please continue with these 3 files, trying not to slip over 2 hours per file. Please let me know if you find some file particularly problematic.

JD_100201_Localize_8a
JD_100201_Localize_8b
JD_100201_Localize_8c

Please confirm.

———————-

I have uploaded the files by mistake in BOI, but then I have re_uploaded them to JD Proofreading site, I have put my name at the end of the file, do you want me to rename it as ‘French_proofread’ too? Sorry for being such a pain. You can send me more files now

I have uploaded file 7h again after I made the changes according to
‘s comment.
I am getting started on files 8abc now.

Carine

———————-

M-A was the first one I sent a message to, but she doesn’t respond.
You saw Carine’s files, aside of her slow speed, is she capable to produce quality? Here is a link to her last file: http://001yourtranslationservice.com/uploadedfiles_001/PR/001_JD.repair/French_JD_100201_Localize_7h.xls

———————-

Your name is enough, I assume if the file is named by you and appears in the proofread folded, it was probably proofread.

I will give you 3 more files:

JD_100201_Localize_7a (less than 80 words)
JD_100201_Localize_7b
JD_100201_Localize_7c

Please remember, that key point – is consistency with glossary. Please check the terms and make sure they correspond. Please spellcheck the files. If you are not sure about a term, please send a message to Alexandre or
.

Please confirm.

———————-

One more request please – Catherine uploaded her files, could you please take a look at them and see if her result is acceptable?
Link to her file: http://001yourtranslationservice.com/uploadedfiles_001/PR/001_JD.repair/French_JD_100201_Localize_10i_Catherine.xls

———————-

yes, I have followed the instructions about consistency, and am constantly asking
for confirmations.

Regarding your questions:
1. Ignore the N/A segments. They aren’t used anyway.
2. From your document, it seems most of the duplicate entries are minor inconsistencies. I will forward this to  but use your judgment for now. I do notice that you said two terms have their declination wrong. For those, please use the correct one.

———————-

Could you send the file 19 repetitions to all proofers? Alexandre and I use it as a complement to the glossary. There are many terms that other proofers ask me about that can be found there.

JM

———————-

I will ask to produce it in Excel.

———————-

If it is available in Excel, please send me a copy.
I am reviewing the files.

JM

so there are plenty of rows like this in 7a:

N/A08飞升战场HP01, I suspect that I should translate HP into PV, but can you confirm that I can change this or are these instructions to remain in English. (I know to leave N/A alone now, but not sure if it affects HP too).

———————-

I quickly went through 7h. Here are a few notes about Carine’s file.
Place names and character names should start with capital letter (capitals on all significant words > “Wamuts Aile-de-Soie”. Capitalizing place names was part of the guidelines from the very beginning.

I also spotted some inconsistencies and some mistranslations:
“compétition” > “concurrence”
“crédo sacré” > “Saint Credo”
« 20 pièces de nourriture » > « 20 morceaux de nourriture »
« Panthéon de réincarnation » > « Hall de Réincarnation ». The only « panthéon » is « Panthéon de l’Excellence », otherwise, chose « Hall ».
“Clairière de la sérénité” > “Clairière de Sérénité »

Apart from these issues, the file is good.
Once you have sent her 19 repetitions, ask her to update her files accordingly.

JM

———————-

will take a look at it.

Also, if you use the upload procedure you don’t need to attach files here. I’ve download the file and put it in the general server though.

Can you please clarify?

I’m puzzled at how the two versions could differ when they’re made from the same source. Can you give me examples when you have time so I can look into it? For now, use the Transit dictionary.

There are some inconsistencies within itself. When dealing with 8860 terms that’s to be expected. Again, if you have the time, take note of them and forward them to  or me so they can be sorted out.
