Dictionary Project Translation Words

What’s your computer’s CPU and RAM?

The actual dictionary is about 9MB, although when compressed it’s just 284 KB. Add in the extra parts and Glossary_DEU_21Jun.PXF totals up to 321,448 bytes.

Was there a lot of other dictionary in your Transit & Termstar program already?

Go to Project -> Settings -> Termstar Dictionary. Select Add and see how many other dictionaries are there. At the beginning there should only be the default Tutorial dictionary included by Transit.

no, the pc is no problem, it is not old… it is a dual core 2Mhz pc with 3GB of ram and a 120 GB HD.

The connection is ADSL. no problem, too.

I used Transit XV once before (italian version), so there should not be many other dictionaries.

ok, I’m going to follow your last suggestion.

till later

I received it.

May I ask where you are based? The time on top of the message shows four hours before (?) GMT. Well, probably that is just because the server of the OT system is in the US.

Kind

to everyone…

“Project -> Settings -> Termstar Dictionary” shows me that there are 4 “Video.German_MAIN (1-4)”. I think it’s because I tried to associate the glossary already before while I didn’t have a file to translate yet.

But that’s not the problem, is it? Because I’ve had this download problem within Transit every time I tried to download Video.German_MAIN…

Whereas I’ve had no problems downloading the files from the links you gave me.

Bye, hope this is useful to you.

!

Please try installing it in C:\ as opposed to Program Files. Karel installed in
successfully and without problems on his W7. For XP it should be installed in the
default Program Files.

I suspect you don’t like a lot OT system, but please write in here, so that we not missed all mailing.

Hi
!

Thanks for the file. Should be ready by Monday. Will get back to you for more by then!

BTW, I’ve got me a new PC since Jade Dynasty. Any idea whether or not Transit will run under Windows 7 64bit? With my old PC I had Vista running, but Transit wouldn’t work, so I had to revert to my old XP notebook.

Cheers

Before you get your first assignment, please, answer the questions below, so that we could make sure you understood everything right.

Questions:

* what are the procedures if you are not certain of your translation?
* how do we deal with hyphens when translating?
* how do you attach a glossary to a project and transfer the terms into your translation?
* how do you mark a segment as Translated and what is the shortcut key to transfer the text from the fuzzy window? (ALT 2 jumps without transferring the contents.)
* what is the rule for quotation marks?
* how do you deal with Chinese characters when you get to them?

again

ok, now things seem to work. It seems to be a question of what you do first in Transit. This program is not very comfortable unfortunately.

So, please give me some time. I need to get used to it again.

I’ll come back to you soon. Today and tomorrow I going to work and see.

Till next time and thanks for your assistance.

PS Invoices are to be sent via here (attached files)?

———————-

Glad to hear that you got the dictionary working.

Please make note of which version of Video.German_MAIN actually works and then delete the rest. It’s possible that one of the previous dictionary didn’t finish processing and became corrupt and that may slow things down.

To delete the dictionaries, go to Options -> Database Administrator. Select which dictionary you want to delete, and hit Delete.

If you still can’t get the dictionary working, let me know and I’ll send you your assignment with the dictionary already attached and associated.

Invoices can be send here as attachment, sure.

A very good question !
All is in here:

Please pay your attention right away to “Project Guidelines”
, at the top and left. Before you do the file, please answer the questions (nothing painful, but just to assure the things are fine):

* how do you mark a segment as Translated and what is the shortcut key to transfer the text from the fuzzy window? (ALT 2 jumps without transferring the contents.)

Please let us know how much you charge and how many word you can take care of within a week.

Hi,

another Repetitions file. 6215 words. There a section of Chinese words. Skip those. I haven’t figured out how many words those Chinese segments are, probably 100-200 words. Eh. I’ll adjust the total words later.

http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/German/01_beta_reps_DEU.PXF

Please confirm and let me know how long it will take you to translate them all. We estimate 3 days, but hey, the sooner the better.

PS: I just found out you have other files to translate. Technically a Reps file gets priority over regular file, but if you’re midway through a file, go ahead and finish it before starting on the reps file. We do have some leeway for this file.

I just uploaded 05_174.

Please find a few remarks attached.

———————-

But I just remembered that I wanted to check the file for hyphens again – because they don’t belong there. I will probably resend it soon. Sorry.

———————-

Got you!

———————-

Sorry for the form letter previously.

but yeah, on the pindex file, if you click on Project Guidelines you’ll see all sorts of info. Click also on Instructions on the bottom left column.

Many of these are similar to Jade Dynasty rules, but there are some subtle differences. Do answer Valeria’s questions anyway so she’s satisfied that you’ve read the new stuff.

Thanks!

Marcus, I’m assuming you’re familiar with Transit since I seem to recall you vaguely from Jade Dynasty. There are some differences between JD and Battle of Immortals, so please read the Project Guidelines and Instructions at

http://translationstop.com/files/pindex.html

If it asks you for password, both username and password is 001.

Project Guidelines is at top left corner (currently, we’re thinking of changing its location, so this may change). Instructions is at bottom left column.

When you’re done let us know and we’ll assign you some work. Uh…, there’s enough material to keep you busy for two weeks. How many words roughly do you want for up to this weekend?
