Glossary Proofreading German Translated

OK. I’ll stick to the uploading procedure as usual.
Do you already know when you will send Jan’s files for proofreading?

———————-

I quickly went through 10i. The file is fine, but I suspect this is mainly because Emle translated it and she seems to be a reliable translator.
I am currently proofreading Catherine’s files (9l, 9m) and the fluency of the translation is an issue.
I am afraid that she might not spot translation/fluency errors if she works on lower quality translations.
If you want to send her files to proof, I suggest to send her item list files – like section 1, 2, etc… I think it would be safer to ask her to check terms against the glossary, make sure they are consistent and to write a report about what she changes so that Alexandre or I can take a look at it later.
If you are willing to do that, she can work on 1c and 1d – I already worked on 1a and 1b.
Anyway, it’s up to you, please let me know what you think.
.

JM” Working on it right now, actually.

Keep in mind that Jan was working with the old glossary. He was finished before the new glossary was up.

Assuming the repetitions file you just proofed is good, you should be able to use the filter to just concentrate on Jan’s work. Originally the later files would have 200 new terms and 4000 repetitions or something like that.

Hi

Ok, I uploaded my file, and I’m ready for more.

Hours spent on this are

2.5 on 02_203 – not so many issues, but I had to go over it again due to the new glossary.
3.0 on 02_204 – A lot of terms not consistent with glossary, I guess they were not available in the glossary when the translator did this first, so a lot had to be reviewed and changed.
1.0 on 02_205 – not many problems.

Hi,
.

You requested that an Excel file of the reps be sent to you.
Transit doesn’t export reps file. Their programmer never thought about the possibility that it’s needed, I guess. I had to create the Excel file manually via copy-and-paste.

But it’s done!

If it’s needed, the Transit file for the reps is also there in that FTP site. Same directory.

Thanks a lot, .
Did you send it to the other proofreaders too? They will need it.
Please let me know.

First, did you use the filter to focus on the translator edited parts only?

I’m asking because I’m going to redo the Insert Extracts operation. If you have been modifying the pre-translated parts, this will replace them. On the other hand, if you aren’t touching the pre-translated parts, then this will update them with the new glossary parts.

Next, here’s more:

http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/German/03_210-13_DEU_Heiko_translation_comments.doc

Again, please keep in mind that this was done with the old glossary.

I don’t have any way of mass-emailing the other translators. Only Karel does. On the other hand I think Karel’s mass-email will email everyone, not just the small group working on JD.repair.

However, the link works for anyone. If anyone asks for it, just give him/her the link and tell him/her to download it.

———————-

I will contact the proofers.

Thanks again

JM

I have also uploaded the last version of file 7i (again according to J-M’s comment about the translation of one specific term) and have started working on the new files 8abc.

When I started last week, I did in fact also look at the pretranslated parts. But then I went over everything again with the new glossary, using the filters. So I changed some pretranslated parts, but not all of them.

But when I finished today, I assumed I didn’t have to look at the pretranslated parts, expecting your overwriting them.

Thank you for the new files!

So I just received a repetitions file from
, and I noticed some inconsistencies with the 2 files I had sent you. I would like to re-revise my first two files against this, just to make sure as consistency is paramount. (10i and 11e)

It won;t take long but please do not process my two files until I resend them, thanks!

I have resent them now, they have the extension: updated.

I´ve completed translation of 02_reps_seg649_DEU.pxf and have uploaded it along with a doc file for the proofreader in a zip file.
I re-checked on differences of the dictionary and glossary and found that I was wrong, maybe I mixed something up. Sorry for puzzling you. I think I´ve starred too long at the monitor today.
If I got the time tomorrow I´ll give some notes on the inconsistencies within the dictionary.

Best Heiko

Sorry I couldn’t get back to you yesterday – I’m at GMT+6, so questions asked after 4pm GMT are falling on my night time.
So one by one:
1. Everything after N/A – is not going to be used in the game. For this reason it had been hidden in the Transit files and it does not require to be translated. You see N/A in the beginning of the raw – we don’t care about this raw.
2. I am not processing the files yet, so it’s good you updated them.
3. I’m online and ready to reply any further questions. When you are coming to the middle of your last file please let me know, and I will make sure to assign you more files that you will not have to wait.

3.

Jean

I will have Catherine working on the item lists files how you suggested.

———————-

Thanks for the update. If you want, you can ask Catherine to track the changes and I will check into them to make sure she is heading in the right direction.
I asked other proofreaders to download the Excel file prepared. That should help a lot.
I am almost done with section 9. It should be complete tomorrow.
I thought I would move on to section 17 next. I quickly checked and there are plenty of inconsistencies to fix.
Let me know if you want me to take care of something else first.
When should we send you the proofread files? Did you think of a deadline by which all files should be sent to you?

Please let me know.

JM

———————-

Sorry to interrupt your work flow, but this came in very late last night.

Please proofread the following file first. It’s the reps file for Section 02. Finishing this would allow me to start farming out section 2.

http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/German/02_reps_DEU_tobe_proofed.PXF

http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/German/02_reps_seg649_DEU_Heiko_Translation_comments_for_proofreader.doc

This is done using the new glossary, by the way.

Please get this done first. The regular files for section 03 can wait until after you’re done with this reps file.

” Sophie, I guess the new glossary kinda delayed progress. Any idea when you’ll be done with 207-209?

“Attached are comments from various proofreaders.

commented: In 03 rep “charm” is used inconsistently throughout the file (translated as Amulett/Zauber/…) This should be ironed out in the glossary asap. Shall I do that or is  going to have a look at it?

Told him that I’ll forward his concern to you and let you do the final decision.

By the time you’re available again we should have Section 02 in progress.

———————-

Carine

How do I distinguish the updated files? Please let me know.

In the future, if you upload an updated file, please add “updated” in the end of the file name.

———————-

at this point we have enough people working in the files.

———————-

Sylvia

I am very sorry to see this kind of response. It is very possible that we will not continue working with French on BOI because French translators don’t seem to care about the faults of the previous project or feel free to deliver neglectful work.

Please let me know your hours. I will be forced to have someone else to continue working on these files.

———————-

I understand that deadline is either June 10 or 11, or if we want to get to, as the client says, “perfection” – June 17. I don’t see how we can finish proofreading in 2 days.
In any case, I think it’s already the time to begin releasing final files to me, as it does take some time to go over each file to make sure no cells got deleted/shifted in any processing stage and no vetting issues, such as ~55~ (which was used to replace “&” signs) are left. Therefore if there are files you consider completed – it’s the right time to begin uploading them.

———————-

Jean

And yes, please proceed to section 17 – there are plenty unproofread files. Please consider files 17u and 17v as unproofread and proofread them as well.

———————-

Please tell me, on which files had you proofread already? Because it seems that you are working well with the glossaries, and we decided to assign you the files with the lists of items.

Therefore please upload what you had already done (let me know what and what are the proofreading hours), and begin working on files 1c and 1d.

I apologize for the reassigning which may feel confusing, but we try to make sure to distribute work so that everybody does what he does best so that we could hit our very tight deadline.

In these files it is very important to work on consistency with the glossary, capitalization (place names and character names, item names should start with capital letter) and spelling.

I suggest you to contact Jean

to give you precise instructions on capitalization – they are language-specific.

Do you know how to arrange columns in alphabetical order (according to the English column)? One translator found it speeds up significantly the speed of working with the glossary, because the glossary is already in alphabetical order. Rearranging files in this way is permitted.

Please confirm! and let me know may you have any questions.
