How long will it take from translation to having it notarize and getting an Apostille done to include shipping. We are not in a rush but it has to be done.

Plan A
Translate English to Turkish
1st Agreement = total word count = 15,250
Notarize translated document (download)
Certificate of Apostille

Plan B
Translate English to Turkish
3 Agreements = total word count = 40,884
Notarize translated document
Certificate of Apostille

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Correspondence with customer:

As I mentioned in my email below, 30 days is too long to translate the agreement (15,250 word count). We need to submit the translated document that has been notarized with the apostille and mailed to us then to Turkey sometime in mid-February.

How much is the cost for the following services:

1. translate English to Turkish with estimated 15,250 word count
2. notarize the translated document
3. apostille
4. ship the above documents back to us

I am meeting with the President tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14th at 11AM (San Diego time)

Our office is located in the United States = San Diego, California.

Where is your office where your translators are working?

----------------------------

Hi Kenax,

If it was just the one agreement that has to be translated, notarized, apostille, and shipping = is the completion date still 30 days? Thirty days may be too long to translate. We have a deadline of Feb.

Please include the total price including shipping?

Thank you

________________________________

what time zone are you on and did you get my last email? If there is a deadline for these documents I need to act quickly with my translators and organise something.

okay, got a whole bunch of responses and it may be possible that I can get it all done for you, including certification, for between 0.06 and 0.07 Euro per word, but they would need to see the other document as well to confirm. Can you send the other document as well? Delivery would be in about 30 days. Would the be acceptable to you? >

Thank you for responding regarding ILTS' inquiry in translating an agreement from English to Turkish. Per your request, attached is the agreement to be translated. How long will it take from translation to having it notarize and getting an Apostille done to include shipping. ILTS is not in a rush but it has to be done.

for a larger job like this I can probably get you a reasonable discount, but it would be best to see a sample of the text so that I can approach my translators with it. It also depends on how high you want the quality or how quickly you want it completed. I would guess I could do it for you for around 0.09 USD/word, but would need to communicate with you further and then the translators to give you an exact quote.

my translators are all over the world. I found one source in Texas which can give you the certification and apostille and translation for 0.07 Euro a word (including my markup). This might be the best option since you are located in the US and you would get the legality end of it sorted properly. Otherwise I have less expensive translators in Turkey and in Turkish North Cyprus who can offer you certification, but their local certification. Don't think they have anything like "apostilisation". I have asked the Texas company if they would be willing to provide the certification and apostilisation on someone else's translation, to try and get the price down a bit lower. Note that my 30 day delivery included the other 40,000 word document, so if we are only talking about the first 15,000 word document, at least for now, then delivery by mid February is not a problem at all. I am sure I could achieve the 40,000 document as well by this deadline, if I were to use at least two translators, in that the average translator can translate about 2,500 words a day. I myself am located in Europe but I check my email sporadically, often after midnight, as I sleep sporadic hours. We can arrange a phone conversation/Skype etc. or quick email session during some time frame on your schedule if you like. The document would be shipped to you by FedEx or similar. Because this is a larger document and my first time working with you, I would also need some deposit, or some system of partial payment with partial delivery. I could email you the translation in portions for partial payment, and then send the certified document at the end. Could something like this be arranged?

Also, were you interested in giving me the other 40,000 word document as well? My price assumes this, because it is a volume discount from the translator and on my markup as well.

Because you have to meet the president today I'll send this email from two sources. Inform me if you need me to check my email regularly at a certain time frame.

Turkish Translations Certification Matters

Bengi asked me to research what we could do this for in the States. Notarization is 35 dollars per document (not per page) and an Apostille can be attached by the Texas Secretary of State for 100 dollars per document (not per page). The Apostille will legalize the document in any country that is a signatory to the Hague Convention and Turkey is a signatory.

----------------------------

The notary fees in Turkey are very high because the fee is a hidden tax on business. The local notary I took this to said it would be 38 dollars per page to have it notarized! However, our American office can do this for you much cheaper. It is only 35 dollar to notarize the first document you sent to us if we do it in the United States. It would help us serve you better if we understood where the document is going to be used and for what purpose.

----------------------------

My certification is from my high school. Since primary school I have been educated in English system. According to my diploma I have taken sworn translator certificate from 5th Turkish Notary public in Kayseri. Let me explain; for apostile , first we have to make my translation verified by the notary public which I work with. Then the notary public verified documents are sent to the governorship of Kayseri (or to the governorship of the city in which the translator and the notary public reside) and the apostille of the documents are made there. Formally, there is no problem from my side to verify my translation by a notary public and to make it verified by the governorship of Kayseri because I am a SWORN TRANSLATOR and my translation is valid in every place in the world. But the subject is the money. In Turkey notary public prices are so high.

For example you will pay me a total of approximately 0,035 x 65000 =2275 Euro only for translation. But in order to verify my translation from a notary public in Turkey. Notary public takes fee. Before going to the apostille the translated documents must have to be verified by the notary public and the notary publics always looks at the target and source translation sheets and this will cost approximately 18000 Euro. And also the notary public requires the total amount at the same day which he verifies the documents. So the total to be paid shall be 20275 Euro for this translation. Please note that in Turkey the notary publics can work with the translators whom they have given sworn translation certificates to. This means a translator in Istanbul can not work with a notary public in Kayseri if the translator have not taken his sworn certificate from that notary public. Or can not work a translator in Istanbul if he did not given his sworn translation certificate. So if your customer demands apostile the price is like this. But only the translation and my Signature then he will pay 2275 Euro.

----------------------------

I have learned the prices for Notary certification it is 55 TL (around 25 EUR/page). Please note that this per page price is valid for any copies. For ex. if the text is 5 pages and you want 10 copies - there will be 50 pages x 25 EUR= 1250 EURs. Apostille has been told to be free. If the contract has a total price, Notary also takes %0,75 of the price. Please note that the certification price does NOT include the the certification.

So my price would be: 0.07 EUR/Source word + ~25 EURs/page notary certification + %0.75 if there are any total contract value

----------------------------

I've downloaded the published 2009 Notary Public fees/charges list which, for the uninitiated, is hard to figure out or make healthy calculations, and that may be the reason why someone else gave you such a low figure. I've also talked to other notaries and each time their estimated figures seem to increase rather than decrease. (They all wanted to actually see the documents/translation to make their calculations). Attached, you'll find the published fees list. The problem here is that no amount in each article is valid by itself. This means that they charge separately for; a) per signature, b) per each original page, c) per each photo-copied (or printed out) page, d) per each translation page e) one thousand 0,90 of the total amount indicated in the agreement/contract etc, etc. Once they calculate the accumulated total of the above, they double the amount for the copies they are going to retain for 5 years. There is also the second sentence of article I.1. at the beginning which says that the minimum charge for signatures cannot be less than 32,30 TL and can not exceed 16.514,80 TL. (This can be interpreted as "you can charge a minimum fee of 32,30 per page", whether it is correct or not). So their estimation, without having seen the actual documents, is based on these specified fees/charges applied to the number of original documents (in English), their photo-copies to be signed and stamped, the number of translated pages AND their photocopied (or printed out in duplicate) pages to be certified. No wonder they quote between 9.000 to 12.000 Dollars US for 325 pages of originals and the estimated 330 to 350 translated pages in duplicate (this varies whether each page is to contain 33 or 22 lines, leaving empty space for the Notary's stampings and signings). So in the face of this situation (the certification fees being thrice, or more, than the amount to be charged for the actual translation) perhaps the client will refrain from having them certified, unless it is mandatory to carry out its business with the authorities, or get only a smaller portion of it certified for formalities purposes, i.e. a short summary in which it can be stated that further conditions are to be specified in future annexes/appendixes that are to be part of the main agreement in case of a dispute between the parties. If the parties will take one another to court over a dispute in the future, THEN they can have the certification of the remaining pages done and add the expenses to their claims. I am expecting one other Notary Public to get back to me in the afternoon, and if I have better news, I'll let you know.

----------------------------

In Turkey Notary certifies the translators and thus certifies the translations that are completed by that translator. My father in law has the certification and I can get it certified through him. I will let you know the charging system tomorrow.

----------------------------

I talked to the cashier of one of the Notary Publics that I worked with, and he gave me we a figure well in excess of 8 thousand dollars for 350 pages (assuming that the Turkish translation would amount to that many pages). His boss, the Notary Public himself has left the office for the day. I'll talk to him later, when he reaches home, to re-confirm and let you know. In any case the 6 TL (No longer YTL "New Turkish Lira" as of 1st January 09. The Y is taken away) must be a misunderstanding. I'm told that notarisation/certification cost of a single page costs over 25 TL plus VAT on top. So somebody is making a mistake! It is after 5 PM over here, so I'll talk to/ask other Notary Publics tomorrow and get better information for you. While I was actively working in a translation agency about 4 years ago, this was always a problem with clients, the Notary Public charges being so high. But they are bound by regulations and the fees (fiscal stamps etc) are fixed by a higher authority each year, so it has to be the same with all the notary publics. I'll see tomorrow if there is any possibility of a discount or not. But having them certified in Turkey will be somewhat tricky anyway. The original documents will have to be sent to Turkey, which shall be photo-copied. The Notary Public will compare the originals with the photo-copies and retain the photo-copies attached to the translations of each page. There is a lot of paperwork involved here; 325 x 2 photo-copies attached to some 325-350 translation pages which have to be in 2 copies as the Notary Public retains a copy for their files, so we are talking about 700 pages to be printed out plus the duplicate photo-copies of the original650 equals 1350 pages to be signed & stamped several times and surface-mailed back to you along with the 325 original pages = 1975 pages in the package to be posted. Perhaps the client may wish to postpone the certification to a later date, like after they have signed the agreement(s)?

Other responses:

My price for certified translation is 0.15 USD/word. As this is not a very urgent translation, I plan to translate about 2000 words per day. Reply to the customer's comments: It will take about 2 to 3 weeks to notarize and send back. So, in total, when not urgent, I need 1.5 months. P/S/: Notarization at the Turkish Notary.

I have talked to my father who is an expert of this kind of translations.I emailed him your project and he said that he can do it. He will email you and answer all your questions.

Here it is. Seems like there is a small discrapency, I had sent quote for 65,000 words as stated in your link. But it is 60,000 words translation is it not? I revised it now.

Translation from English-Turkish GBP35/1000 words With volume discount 60,000 words Total: GBP 1750

Certified Translation: GBP65/1000 words With volume discount 60,000 words Total GBP 3100

The rate I gave, which is 40 Euro per page does not include certification. I accept 1000 characters as one page. As I mentioned in my previous message, depending on the complexity of this text I can translate 4-5 pages per day. I think that makes approximately 1500 words daily. If the volume of a document exceed 30,000 words, my price discount will be %10 of my rate. I do not certify someone else's translation.

----------------------------

Happy New Year! I hope you had a good holiday. I looked at the translation job. Below is the required information: I am asking USD 0.06 per word (utilizing MS Word wordcount tool) for the translation (not certified) of the first portion (15250 words). I am not able to make certified English to Turkish translation in USA, nor Apostille. I can translate 1500 words per day in average. I think that the overall job will take approximately 45 days. If I am assigned all, then I will charge USD 0.04 per word.

Yes I can help you with this translation project. Currently I charge 12 cents USD / word on average. Since you have a large volume, I can give you a volume discount depending on the subject matter. Some subjects are hard and require specific terminology (such as legal, banking, technical or medical), but I can give you a 4 cents discount per word making it 8 cents/word. Please let me know if this is workable for you. What is the subject matter by the way? When do you need to start this project, is it currently available to start? Do you still live in Prague by the way? Anyway, let me know please if you are ready to start, or if the price is within your range.

----------------------------

Regarding your price request, I would state US$0.05 per source word. Unfortunately, as I said, there is no possibility for me to get an officially certified translation. I have quit Istanbul a couple of years ago, then I worked a long time in the tourism business and now I am active as a freelance translator. I do not know the translation offices here in Antalya and just for certifying an already made translation they charge high prices, which can be astronomic sums if you add the notary costs which are very high in Turkey. I did not study your document, but I can tell you beforehand as it seems to be some kind of contract, if there is any sum stated on the document, the notary will also charge a tax for this. I hope to have given you some information on the conditions here.

Thank you for your message. I'm attaching our company's profile, in case you need to have more details about our activities. We are interested to cooperate with you in this coming project. The best rate we can offer is 0.06 EUR/word. I hope this is suitable to your budget. Please let me know your opinion and expectations regarding this. As for time frame, we can have the whole task completed within a business month, taking into account that one person only is working on it. We can assign more people to the project in order to finish it earlier, and we can send you completed parts, part by part, if this can be of any help. Please let me know if this is OK. Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks and have a nice day!

My offer for the translation of the document is USD 0,10 per source word (or the EUR conversion of this price). Unfortunately I cannot give a cost for notarization. Notarization of a regular document costs 49.75 TURKISH LIRAs per 1000 target character. Furthermore in the event of a business agreement notary costs will increase according to the amounts (I mean purchase prices etc.) stated in the agreement. For an estimation of the cost you should send me the final agreements with the amounts highlighted in it, if the amounts changes the notary cost will change as well. In most cases to request a quote from a notary is not free. And as you will appreciate I will request the costs for the notarization before the delivery.

----------------------------

My price (0,035 Euro/word) includes the following: 1-My price for certified translation (with certified translation, if you only intend putting my sworn translation seal and signature on the documents yes, it is the price). But if you say that you have to make the translation and then you have to make it verified by a notary public (living in Turkey) then the price of the notary public is specified by the notary public after the translation. And this price will be very different. 2-In order to certify someone else's translation my price is 0,03 Euro because this will include proofreading and correction. 3-I can translate 20 pages daily 20x180 =3600 words so approximately in 20 days I can finish the project.

I'm writing in responce to your announcement for appr. 60 000 word English to Turkish Translation Project. The best rate I can offer for translation only is 0.045 USD per word with approximate turnound of 20-30 days max. The following is overview of my experience as a translator: With over eight years' experience as a professional translator, I can offer you a wealth of experience in English and Turkish languages. I deliver quality work on time and on budget, ensuring that your projects remain on schedule. I am motivated self-starter, but can also work comfortably in a team environment. After BA in Business Administration (UK) and a year of training in descriptive linguistics (areas covered include sociolinguistics, phonology, grammar, discourse studies, cognitive linguistics, pragmatics, semantics, and language typology) I commenced as a language trainer and consultant with the RRC (the British council project), where I played a key role in several translation projects. I then gained new skills in translation/transcription of materials of technical and business nature. As translator with Abt. Association, Inc. Health Reform Project, was responsible for delivering English, Uzbek and Russian translations of, proofreading, transcribing and editing official correspondence, textbooks and other major documents. As a result of the specialist expertise gained in this position, I was able to launch a freelance career in 2000. I now help clients such as Allingus PLS (Turkey), Totally Translation (France) and others to deliver leading-edge translation solutions that c reate competitive advantage. From translation to subtitling, I can offer a breadth of skills combined with a depth of expertise in various fields. The most recent projects (accomplished last few months) include: - 22 thousand word Turkish-English translation legal translation project - 50 thousand word Turkish-English and Turkish-Russian translation of financial material - 60 thousand word Russian-Turkish technical translation project.

*your price for translation only: 0.05 Euro per word *your price for certified translation: 0.05 Euro/word + Notary Price 12.00 Euro/page (We need to check the price of the Notaries + Ministerial charge for Apostille - I will check and let you know later. I am giving the rate here approximately.) *your price to certify someone else's translation: (the certification is done through Notary Public) (but if our translator's signature is needed, then he will do a proofreading, which is 25 Euro per hour) *how many words of this text you can translate per day, and your estimated time frame for all 65,000 words: Our translator can do 2500 words per day to be on the safe side for this work which leads to 26 days maximum. *any volume price discounts if we assign a larger portion or all of the translation to you: I believe the price for this work is a good bargain already.

----------------------------

- your price for translation only : Normal rate for EN>TR : EUR 0,05 Our discounted rate for you : EUR 0,04 x 56134 words = *EUR 2245,36 * - your price for certified translation : If the client requires only sworn translation, we do not charge sworn translation fee. But the client requires the translation certified by Notary Public (in this case, it needs our sworn translator signature also), notarization price depends on the subject (especially the price statement) and line number of the documents. I have taken a quick quotation for the document "STM Datatrak Final Contract", there is total price statement USD 8.138.667 and they told that it can be about USD 48.000 (valuable paper charge, this cost also taxes, stamp duty, etc.). In order to be able to receive more clear quotation from Notary Public, could you please send the all documents to be translated? And then, I take the total quotation and inform you. - your price to certify someone else's translation : We charge EUR 0,01 per source word (sworn translation) for the translations made by other resources. - how many words of this text you can translate per day, and your estimated time frame for all 65,000 words : We can handle all work. Our one translator's capacity is 3000 words per day. 25 days are ok for one translator work. If the client needs it earlier, we can deliver earlier by dividing the work into two or three translators (I think that two would be better as there are two documents). - any volume price discounts if we assign a larger portion or all of the translation to you : We discounted our rate EUR 0,05 to EUR 0,04 for this project. If you give all of work, we can do something more depending on your offer.

----------------------------

I have just examined your translation project. Please note the followings accordingly. Legal contracts and international agreements are one of my scope of expertise which I have in-depth knowledge and experience. However, it seems that your client is looking for a sworn translator who can also make the notarization and apostilling process of the translation. Kindly note that, I can only handle the translation of the related document as I am not a sworn translator working under notary public. For your information, notarization and apostilling process cost a lot for the clients. Anyway, if only translation of these agreements are of interest to your client, I am ready to handle ALL the translation of this project as there is no time limitation. My rate for the translation of this approx. 60-65 000 words project is as follows: Translation rate: USD 0,08 / word This is my best lowest NET rate exclusively offered for this project which EXCLUDES all sales tax, VAT and all other costs relating to money transfer charges. Delivery Date: within 2 months time following the receipt of the whole project documents The given price reflects only the professional translation of this document into Turkish as I can NOT give a service for notarization and apostilling process In case of any possibility to cooperate with each other for this project, please do not hesitate to contact me for further details.

----------------------------

For projects like this my general price is 0,035 Euro per word. I can finalize such a project in 20 days. If you would like to work with me please turn back to be with your demands.

----------------------------

I can give you both a volume discount and a first-acquaintance discount! My normal price would be around $ 3250 USD for 65.000 words. But I can charge you only $ 1950 USD so that you can add your profit on top and make the new client happy too. This (one thousand nine hundred and fifty US Dollars) is for translation only. To have it notarised (certified), the Notary Publics in Turkey charge a per-page fee of around $ 30 or so. I'll have to double-check that with a Notary Public as I've been translating for translation-agencies by e-mail for the past 3 years and was not directly involved in notarising processes, therefore I'm not quite certain about the latest notary-fees/charges, and there may be photo-copying of that many pages involved so that'll cost extra too, but I can find out for you if the client wishes the translation notarised in Turkey. Extra fees/charges apply for Certificate of Apostil also. Time frame: 65.000 words work out around 325 pages or so, taking an average of 200 words per page. I can easily translate 25 pages or more per day, thus it would take me around 12 to 13 days to finish it and deliver by e-mail. Having it notarised would involve surface mailing of 325 or more pages, so delivery time depends on the postal delivery network in my and your area... The above quotation is for assigning me the entire translation job. Please also note that by accepting this job, I would have to devote all of my time to this translation, and refuse any other work for the next 2 weeks. Therefore, I would require a down payment of $ 500 as a show of good will by you or your client. Should you have any further questions, please go ahead and ask them.

----------------------------

Our price for translation only : 0.09 Euro/word.
