Whoops, first come first served. File’s assigned to someone else since she replied first.

Are you available tomorrow? There’s probably nothing to do, but just in case something happens, I would like to know who I can call on.

———————-

do you need the file back tonight?

Fabian” If possible, yes. Selfish of me, but I really would like to be able to get everything done tonight, maybe a little bit of work tomorrow morning, and then relax for the rest of Sunday.

Finished and uploaded (55min). Anything else? 🙂 “Not really at the moment. I’ll know more in about an hour if you’re willing to wait.

———————-

Yes, I should available tomorrow.

Best Gerald

The last_2nd_pass list has been run through everything and there’s very few $$. Total of 310 flagged cells for the whole thing.

Karel wants the files spotchecked too for a couple hours, just to make sure everything is good. Pick a section go through it, and see whether there’s anything major that needs fixing.

Can you spend a couple hours today on this? We’ll probably split the batches for two people with Sebastian covering the other half.

Please let me know whether you’re available and when.

I’m available as of now and tonight.

Karel also wants a couple people to spend a couple hours spotchecking various sections of the files to see if there’s anything obvious that we need to fix. That’ll be you and . You can probably do it while you’re replacing the $$ (it’s $$ this time).

There’s also a possible badly translated sentences that we may need to fix. ‘s segment, if you recall. I’ll give you the exact file location and cell number later.

says the following segment (row 12 of file 301-314) is badly translated. Christina doesn’t think so. Sebastian agrees with . What do you think?

The segment also appears 4 times in other places, although sometimes with a slightly different translation (one’s translated by Ulrich, the other Gerald). It appears twice in 286-300. Search for the English sentences, you’ll find it.

here is the English original:

You! It seems that in my arrogance I underestimated you and overlooked your group’s doings. Very well. But you have not won any great y. Do you think that I am the only one that seeks to wrest control of the flow of history? The times now lend themselves to people like me! Here, take the Scorpion Lord’s Goldwave Chest and see what I mean. The one known as the Dragon Emperor seeks power just as I did. He was to be the first rival I crushed upon my rise to power. Go ahead and try to stop him. If I cannot have the power I wanted, I’ll take what pleasure I can in watching my enemies’ bid for power and immortality turn to dust!

Here is the translation I found:

My translation:

Hi

oops, yesterday I wrote I’d be available from 8 to 11 CET, now it’s 11 and I was planning to leave…

Since I wouldn’t want to cancel my appointment on such short notice, is it possible you assign this to somebody else?

If it helps, I could also give you some hours later tonight.

Sorry about that…

Can you work something out with that?

This has been line 12 in the file. I stopped spellchecking afterwards.

There have been akward sentence structures as well as wrong translations in this line.

From what I see in the records, the original translation is yours. What’s your opinion?

———————-

Just tried to send this to  but the CS doesn’t work – not at my own PC at the moment. Just pasting it here for you, then:

thanks for your messages. I am actually out at the moment — I had told the PMs I’m available until 11:00 but they assigned the files at 11, so I had to ask them to reassign. I haven’t yet heard back from on that, so just letting you know, too. I hope they can assign the files to somebody else. I will be back tonight to check my mail and for last minute stuff if needed.

———————-

Just made arrangement to get someone else to do it.

It’s been taken care of.

Depending on what they find, we may yet need you tonight. Hopefully not, because it looks good to my untrained eyes.

———————-

Hi

Okay, I will have a look at it.

So, I have to check the $$ marks and spotcheck the files. How much time should I spend checking each file?

Regarding the translation: The new version sounds good, but I have not done the original one (“From what I see in the records, the original translation is yours. What’s your opinion?”).

Best Gerald

———————-

Carine.

1) Did you check the last Accounting file?
2) Do you have extra hours for JD? As you could see they were not counted in the latest accounting file.

———————-

Yep. Check the $$ marks.

Pick a random section from each file and spend like 10 minutes there and let me know if you find any problem.

If there is, then we can figure out whether it affects other files and how to do a comprehensive fix. For now though, the $$ and spotcheck first.

For the translation… what’s wrong with the old version? Because Christina doesn’t see anything wrong with it.

We want to fix actual errors, but aren’t going to bother with mere stylistical differences. Each translator has his/her own style, and trying to get them to agree on a single style is impossible.
