Project Work Spellchecking Segments German

Uploading to 001yourtranslationservice.com is the correct way. Don’t attach it here. Do not send it by email to Karel. Or upload it to the Communication System.

Thanks.

” How is the progress going with your first file on this next project? We need to coordinate the segment numbers between several translators. Sorry, but seems my PMs have been exhausted from the previous project and not been helping me with file allocation, as I had hoped.

“Hi Karel

two posts above I already reported uploading the file, and comments with it :-).

However, I quickly read over it again, fixing a few things, when I realized you didn’t use it yet. The new files are now uploaded with the same filenames plus _new. So please make sure you use those _new files.

This was just because it was very late on sunday and I wanted to make sure the quality is good.

Concerning spellchecking: Your suggestion doesn’t work for me. When I hide the tags, it also hides the hyphens in word (but they always export fine to txf). This gives me lots of terms marked red. When I show the tags, they are all pasted in word. But I’m pretty sure there aren’t many spelling errors, and the few remaining will be found by the proofreader / dictionary compiler.

So this is also a good time to ask if there is anything new about the hyphen problem. Have you ever contacted the software company about this? While it doesn’t mess up my exported files, it can be quite a nuissance to have hyphens tag protected. And since hyphens are used a lot in many languages, it is quite unbelievable that a translating software you have had to pay for isn’t able to deal with them properly.

Hey Karel

I finished Segments 1-1500 yesterday and I am ready for more files.

———————-

Are you not working on the file already? I see on GS that you are already on segment 1766. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

———————-

Carine, rather than leaving the exact number of segments undecided like this, I’ve decided to arbitrarily give you segment 4001 until the end. This is some 2000 words total, which should still be manageable to you.

When you are done, upload it as usual.

Karel

Yesterday, I sent you the Book 3 glossary German-segments 3760 to the end. Hope you received this one. I haven’t got any new files, if you refer to this. So, if there are any new files to be translated just send them.
I will attach the file once again to this message.

———————-

I thought it was another file, sorry

Yes, I did about 2000 words yesterday.

———————-

Please use the upload manager to deliver the files, otherwise they don’t get received.

———————-

I am making summary of the project we completed. It may take a while for new files for vetting to come, so we want to pay all expenses of the previous project before work on the new project begins.
Please tell me how much time did it take you to make your last file (10s), which didn’t enter to your invoice, and I will update it.

———————-

The following file has been successfully uploaded: new_03_glossary_german_Sebastian_new2.TXF

this file includes: Spellchecked via word, all hyphens replaced by °°°. (Spellchecking worked after replacing hyphens with °°°).

Please confirm that you retrieved it.

———————-

I will follow the order you indicated in your message.

———————-

I’m a bit confused with the uploading process. Hope you received my file finally.

———————-

It was 2 hours.

———————-

We’ve been trying a new system… only slightly over a week old. Karel’s getting busier and has been delegating some of the duties to me.

Currently we’re moving the Excel files into Transit, hence why the lack of translation work.

Z_get is basically a temp name for this very thing forum. If you have a better name, please let us know.

I’ll try to answer all your question. Just ask in this thread.

———————-

I’m adding it.

” So how do I go about getting an assignment? ”

I am summarizing spellchecking hours, and I found that you had not told me how much time did you work on the next files:
14e,12k, 18i,o,r, j,m, b,b,l
8h,I,j
17uv, 18oq
15su

Please let me know and thank you very much for your help with the last project.

———————-

I am summarizing the spellchecking hours.
You had spellchecked several files. Can you please let me know how much time did it take and what was your rate for this work?

———————-

For these four files, it took me two hours to spellcheck and make the files consistent as per your request. I already included this in the invoice I sent to Karel. My proofreading/spellchecking rate is $20 an hour.
Let me know if you have questions.

Things will be slow at first. We’re going through about a hundred files and trying to build the glossary terms first.

For now though, can you translate segment 1-1110 of 02_glossary_German.PXF?

You can find it here.
http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/German/02_glossary_German.PXF

If you have any comments, please pass it along to our lead translator.

Someone already observed that this game seems to use Greek mythology (e.g., Herakles instead of Hercules), so finding out the equivalent gods/heroes name in German might be useful.

———————-

Thank you for letting me know. I will not include these hours in my report if you had already invoiced Karel for this work.
I am looking forward working with you on the new project.

———————-

I still have a few hundreds of segments left to translate. I’m sorry I couldn’t finish today but some terms require quite some research so I should be finished tomorrow.
Before I proofread my work, I wanted to ask you about the segments that are longer than 31 characters. I don’t know for sure if they are names or small sentences. And I don’t know if you want me to start shorten some of the terms as I guess they should all be shortened in the same way.
Although I did as much research as I could, there are some names I just couldn’t associate with any known god/goddess so I assumed they were “original” charcters’names.

I’ll send you my final translation tomorrow.

Carine

Without looking at the terms in question, I can’t tell either. Stuff like “To the Temple of XXX” are probably roadsigns instead of items/people. If you aren’t sure, leave it alone with a plus mark and send a note to Alexandre asking his opinion. Once he (and maybe Karel) decides, the proofreader can change it.

By the way, Emle says she has some Egyptian deities in her section. It looks like while Jade Dynasty deals with Chinese mythology, BOI uses a broader selection of mythology for its basis. Have you looked at its website yet?

Question 1:
How do I tell where segment 1111 is?
Does that number correspond to the number that is displayed when I turn on View>Display/Hide Attributes>Display full segment markers?

Question 2:
Where am I supposed to deliver the file once I’m done, here as an attachment?

Question 3:
How do I pass anything along to ?

———————-

The note I took:

14e, 12k => 40mn
18i,o,r, j,m, b,l => 1h30
8hij -> 20mn
17uv, 18oq -> 1h
15su -> 5h (translation work)

Total: 8h30

Guess you had yourself a lot of work to get this project done, congratulations.

Kind Colmant

I am really really sorry to be abusing this ticket, but I was trying to send Karel an email, but it seems my email address was not approved by his inbox (I was approved before and also re-did the process). I just want to make sure everything is in order and that i WILL indeed get paid at some point… I did my best to help you out with the spellcheck towards the end, so I hope you excuse my abuse of this ticket.

Sorry to bother you.

Yes, that’s right.

> Question 2:
> Where am I supposed to deliver the file once
> I’m done, here as an attachment?

Karel sent a mass email about three weeks ago asking people to use the new file server.

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/newsystem/cgi-bin/up_1001_TR.cgi

The password is 001

If you proofread too, you can use the same site to upload the files you’re assigned, but change TR to PR. (TR = translate, PR = proofread).

> Question 3:
> How do I pass anything along to ?

Doesn’t the communication system lets you talk to other translators? For short messages, that ought to work. If it’s a larger file, upload it to the TR server and send him (or us) a note.

” Thank you “I notice that you submitted 2 new versions of the 03_glossary.
What’s the difference with the old one?

Because the 03_glossary went to be proofed on the 17th, and I don’t know if it’s still feasible to replace your section with the new version. On the other hand, if the changes are small, we can just implement the changes on the proofreader level.
