Project Translated Glossary Translator French

Please don’t feel you are “abusing” the ticket, OT is an absolutely convenient method of contacting us. You will definitely get paid in the close days, all you need to do is to e-mail your invoice to Karel. If you confirmed your e-mail again it should work, and if not – let me know and I will ask him to add your e-mail to permitted list manually.

Please feel free addressing me in this ticket or other ticket or on CS. I am here to help resolve any problem, not only to beg for spellchecking 5 minuted before project deadline 🙂

We are now preparing the freshly translated glossary to be inserted to repetition files, it takes a little while. Once it’s ready (I guess a bit later today) you will get assigned.

———————-

! 🙂

I will try that then.

———————-

Yes, received. You can actually check yourself if the file got uploaded here:
http://001yourtranslationservice.com/cgi-bin/ls_1001_TR.cgi

And it is helpful for us if you include your name in the file name – we immediately recognize it’s a file from you.

———————-

Hi

Karel informed me he received your e-mail, so he’ll get back to you soon.

———————-

I am summarizing spellchecking hours for the last project. Can you please let me know how much time did you work on the first files (8gr, 15r,11m) and the ones on the last day (2ad, 5ad, 1c)?

———————-

Hi

The changes are not so big. After Karel sent instructions regarding spellchecking, I was assuming the file wasn’t yet in proofreading. There were 3 words that were misspelled and were corrected. There may be a dozen terms (or a few more) that I reviewed and changed while I was at it, and I also replaced all hyphens with °°°.

But if  proofread the old file, we can assume that he fixed the same things that I fixed, and more than that to keep it consistent with the other files. So I see absolutely no reason to go over it again.

———————-

Oh, one more thing: Can you say anything about when new files will be assigned?

Sebastian

———————-

Yes I did check the website and every available webpage related to BOI. Still, some charcters’/deities’names are nowhere to be found.
Anyway, I did my best and finished proofreadin my section 4001-end.
I’m uploading it through here.

You can send me more work as soon as you want.

Carine

Heiko

I am glad you join us for the second project.

Please take the file 04_glossary_German.PXF
and make from segment 3202 (included) to the end.

These are mostly proper names. One of the translator who worked on the previous file noticed, that it includes names of Greek gods and goddesses (not Hercules, but Greek Heracles) and one other translator found also some Egyptian deities. Please research to see how these things are translated to German.

Please confirm.

” Sorry, I think I should have uploaded it through the other page. I’m doing it straight away. ”

Here is the next file:

Please take the file 04_glossary_German.PXF
and make from the beginning to segment 1600 (included).

thanks for the file, yes, I will check these deities.

I´ll take care on research of greek and egyptian goddesses and gods.

Heya.
The glossary for 04 is up. Can you translate segment 1-1600, please?

———————-

Alright, the glossary for 04 is up. Can you please translate segment 1601-3200, please?

You can find it at:

Hi,

Glossary for 04 is up. Can you translate segment 3201 to the end?

You can find it at:
http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/French/04_glossary_French.PXF

———————-

Oops, forgot to include the download link.
http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/French/04_glossary_French.PXF

Password is the same as usual. 001

Actually, future files will be put in the same directory, so if I forget to tell you where you can find a file to translate, it’s probably in there.

” I’m on it. “Ok, what’s 04? If I am creating the glossary, does it mean it will be the dictionary? (so I don’t have to save all the entries in rapid mode?) Just checking!

———————-

Just treat it like any other translation work. Observe the First Letter capitalisation that the client ask, research the deities’ names in French (if it’s different from the English spelling), etc.

What we wanted to do with this is to avoid the mess we had last time.

———————-

fine, and 31 character limitation?

Catherin” Newest info from Karel says that you don’t need to worry about the 31 character limit.

Newest info from Karel says that you don’t need to worry about the 31 character limit.

So sorry, I’m sending it again. “Hi

I’m on it. You can expect it to be ready by tomorrow morning, Europe time. Feel free to send more files.

JM

———————-

Carine, you sent in the wrong file. Somehow you have packed the English file (.ENU) and sent it back to us. We need the .FRA file.

So please upload it again. Thanks.

———————-

confirmed.

I will try to finish it by tomorrow evening.

Is it possible to see the final/proofread version of the previous glossary file? This may be helpful to keep everything consistent.

” Good idea, but proofreading for that one isn’t finished yet.

Have you heard back from Karel in regards to the new starting translation project?

Dalmar” ok! “Kristof

I had just forwarded your message to Karel.

” we haven’t heard from you from a while. Last I know you stopped at segment 1776. Please upload that soon, since the rest of the file has been finished two days ago.

“Dalmar

I asked Karel in your regard. We are summarizing the old project, and will have an idea if we need additional German translators in two weeks approximately. I apologize I can’t provide you a more precise answer at this point – I just don’t know myself, neither does Karel. I promise to get back to you once I have a unequivocal answer.

———————-

Kristof

I got a message from Karel – he does receive all messages to the other e-mail, which is not protected by this thing. So he received your message but doesn’t have time to get back to you because he’s busy with accounting. So he’s trying to have all translators get paid ASAP, also you, please do not worry about it.

———————-

Thanks for your reply.

I wasn’t worried about not getting paid, I know these things need time and if there is a delay in payment I’m not too concerned about it.
It’s just that sometimes I don’t know which is the best way of making contact and getting important messages delivered to Karel but opening a support ticket seems to be the best way.

I trust you will let me know if there is anything you were not happy about or anything you still need me to do (like entering hours for proofreading on any spreadsheet) concerning the Jade Dynasty Project.

Best Kristof

———————-

Done!
Sorry about that, it’d slipped my mind.

———————-

The first segment of my translation reads “translated String”. Shall I leave it as it is or translate it?

Carine” You can ignore it. That string is actually in the source files, but as far as we can tell, is not used anywhere.

“Update: There are also proper names without context in the later segments. I will skip the ones mentioned above for now and continue with those.

Nevertheless, I think it is still a valid question whether we can improve the strategy so that every proper name is only translated once, and then applied to the rest of the project.

Even if those terms were not final and would have to be changed later, they would be all identical and find&replace could be used.

———————-

Well, all our proofreaders are also translators, since at the beginning there’s nothing to proofread. Things got to be translated first.

Speaking of which, I’d like to assign you segment 1-941 of Item_reducedF.PXF, which you can find on the site below.

http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/French/Item_reducedF.PXF

This is a list of items, with some item propertes and in a few cases, the locations where they can be found.

If you aren’t sure what a word translates to, go for something that makes sense for an item. For better context, see the BoI Items.xls

http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/French/BoI%20Items.xls

Remember, segment 1-941. When you are done, upload it to the usual place.
