[These pages concern interesting correspondence between our translators and project managers at KENAX, mostly concerning the famous Jade Dynasty translation project.]

Translation Projects French German Word

Here is a link to the most recent French instructions:
http://001yourtranslationservice.com/translations/projects/2010/10001/video-game_French-localization-guidelines.html

Please read them. There had been an issue with capitalization – please capitalize only Proper names. If some terms from the glossary are not proper names, but capitalized – please edit them.

To your questions – I am not sure what you mean speaking of text in the brackets. You need to translate the segments which are marked untranslated.
We have more than 10 translators working for the project.
I believe this is the first Dynasty game to be translated. Otherwise we would already have all terms from the old one and it would be much easier. I don’t know where you can play the game – I attach a useful links file, may-be you can find some info on their website.

Please find attached Transit installation guide, some e-mail updates form Karel and useful links page. They will help you prepare to the actual translation process. I also strongly recommend reading the Knowledgebase on this website.
Once you are set up, you can e-mail Karel directly and ask to assign you files.

———————-

No, do not activate Tag protection. Use it only once, to correct what you had already translated. Then go on without inserting any hyphens – only with hyphen replacement – “.hhh.” or “°°°“. Then when TM will insert an already translated text, it will insert it with the hyphen replacement you used, and you should not have any problem..

Ok thank you for your answers and attachment, I will have a look at everything and contact Karel directly once I’m done.

Have a nice day 🙂

Please find German guidelines attached.

Will do. Thank you for your time.

I can only find xlm documents and rels files in that link – ?? what are these? is it not supposed to be a text document?

Uli” Did I go public now? ”

Here is responce of the lead translator to your question:
“About the quotation marks issue.
The issue has been fixed in the latest dictionary, which unfortunately is not completely set up yet. Until then, I suggest either to manually change the unwanted insertions or, if you know what you are doing, to change the terms in Transit/Termstar glossary. As to formats, we use the ” instead of ‘ for the German files.”

———————-

I’m sorry, I forgot to write you yesterday that in file 15u there are no differences – Karel by mistake replaced the unproofread file with proofread.

So no problem this time.

Sorry I’m telling it so late.

Patric

I will check this.

Which project are you applying for? Is is Video Game translation? Did you agree on your rate with Karel?

If yes, please follow instructions bellow:

We have won a big translation contract and 3 to 6 more projects of the same size are expected to follow, and apparently a steady flow in the future.

If you would like to take part in this project please refer to
http://001yourtranslationservice.com/translations/projects/2010/01.31_English-to-French-and-German.html

[if the above link breaks up in your email program you need to paste it back together in your browser]

In the top part of this page there is a link to Translator Registration Form and instructions how to submit your tender. Bellow there is much more information about the project.

For now it is sufficient to only read the top part of the page so that you can submit a translation sample, although you may read further to familiarize yourself with the project. In particular one part where I was asking if you have translation memory built up or suitable machine translation software. If the quality is good I can give you a fair share of the project savings.

The project is about one third completed but I need more French and German translators, and many more projects are to follow after this, so it looks like it could be full time work for several years.

———————-

It is a text document. Only Windows converts the extension to something strange. Find attached bellow.

———————-

I don’t understand what project and language pair are you applying for.

———————-

I just finished my first file. Right now I am sending the file in Transit
(Project–>Send) and make a .txf-file. Just as written in the Knowledge Database here.
I wonder, how am I supposed to send the file back to Karel? Simply by attaching it to a mail and send it to Karel?

———————-

Yes, by e-mail to Karel.

———————-

Thai
DTP in CS4 or other software.
Trados, SDL edit

It works now, thanks! Please foward my reply to .
