Translation File Project German

Thank you very much for these instructions, they are very helpful. I finally got started and noticed that the red term “diamond coupon” is displayed in the German target window as “Diamant<>Gutschein”. I thought these pointed brackets are tags used by Transit. Here, there should be a hyphen. Other hyphens in this file are displayed as °°°, which is okay according to the instructions.

Shall I leave these segments with this kind of pointed brackets as they are or change them?

Welcome to OT.
Please find attached a rar with 4 files. These files need to be spellchecked. Additionally, in some of them remained unsolved issues which are marked red in the third column. All of them are additionally indicated in the attached word file. Please resolve the issues, delete the comment and remove the red marking of the cell. The final result should be a clean file.

It is very convenient to attach here files, so when it’s ready, you can attach them to your message.

———————-

One more thing. This file had been spellchecked, and there is no need to do it again. There is one issue left in line 139 – You in this segment is a name of a male character. Can you please change the segment accordingly?

I forgot to mention – please add to the file names _spellcheck_, that I will distinguish them easily.

I am really bombing you with questions today, I’m sorry!

Do you remember these two files I sent you? I see that Karel still had not finalized them, it means they are still in my responsibility. Can you please upload them (the proofread versions) here for me, and I will assign them for vetting?

———————-

Please find attached the spellchecked files. I also included the comment file and left some more comments on your comments…

I don’t know whether to tell you or Karel about the time I spent on it, but here you go.

15s – 20mins
9h – 40mins
9l – 45mins
15u – 50mins
(the little one with the one issue only is free 🙂 )
So that’s an overall of 2h35mins if my Maths is still working.

All the best for now

The topic of translations is very evident form the link I gave you. It is the game itself – what the characters speak, game commands, everything.

Frequency and time lines are flexible. It means you can have work all the time – you receive 2-3 files to work on, and inform lead manager that you need more files before you finish the last. Duration – probably several years. But no one is giving strict dead line for each file – if you do it at reasonable speed, it’s satisfactory.

Please follow these instructions to submit a tender:
We have won a big translation contract and 3 to 6 more projects of the same size are expected to follow, and apparently a steady flow in the future.

If you would like to take part in this project please refer to
http://001yourtranslationservice.com/translations/projects/2010/01.31_English-to-French-and-German.html

[if the above link breaks up in your email program you need to paste it back together in your browser]

In the top part of this page there is a link to Translator Registration Form and instructions how to submit your tender. Bellow there is much more information about the project.

For now it is sufficient to only read the top part of the page so that you can submit a translation sample, although you may read further to familiarize yourself with the project. In particular one part where I was asking if you have translation memory built up or suitable machine translation software. If the quality is good I can give you a fair share of the project savings.

The project is about one third completed but I need more French and German translators, and many more projects are to follow after this, so it looks like it could be full time work for several years.

———————-

You should have inserted all terms before commencing the translation. But if you did and it’s till like this, don’t change, work with “Show short tags”, and insert °°° whenever you need to insert a hyphen yourself.

So just leave them.

———————-

I will let the lead translator know.
But please make sure writing your commentaries in English next time. I always read them, and can often reply certain points.

Which project do you want to apply to? If it’s translation of Video Game to French/German, please let me know your rate.

———————-

It is my mistake, I had a confusion on my records, I hugely apologize for that! I assigned you a 8u file on CS.

Really sorry for he mess.

———————-

I had already registered with that link. I have an account: Username: KNX13765
Password: KkakJK

Anyway, this is the 4th time that you or Karel send me this link.

I DON’T FIND THE LINK TO SUBMIT A SAMPLE TRANSLATION THERE. And sorry, I’m not stupid!

If you make a mystery out of it where everybody has to find its way through the administration jungle, we better let it be.

Please don’t take it personell!

Thank you anyway

Thanks a lot for your fast reply, unfortunately I found out later that as a result of using the Option “Character Picker” there will also appear tags. Now I use for inserting a hyphen the °°° character instead or will create a macro for this according to the instructions given.

I am working on the Video Games Project for English to German and my rate is 0,06$/Word. I have been in contact with Mr. Karel Kosman before and he sent me the link to the database. All my information is to be found under the username Dalmariza.

please find attached the answers to the questions on the bottom of page 1:

– What are tags and how should you deal with them?
Tags are kind of brackets before, after or around words or terms which are standing for commands within the source code/software (like e.g. colours). They should be left like in the original text while being able to change the position of the word including tags for the new translation.

– What to do if you are not sure of a translation/segment/section/phrase etc.
> I should simply skip this part by NOT pressing ALT INS and leave it for later translation, discussion or to another translator.

– In your translation you should address others in the formal or informal, and in what gender?
> In German I use the medieval formal address which doesn’t make any difference between male and female gender. Most of the characters in the game are older then the main character, so the formal address is always adequate.

– What is text limitation?
> Text limitation refers to the lenght of proper names of persons and items, which are limited to 31 characters and to 255 characters for NPC’s and text.

I hope that I understood all the main issues of the project/text.

———————-

You can record a macro for inserting °°° as well, whatever is more convenient for you.

have a nice weekend as well.

I don’t understand what is the problem? Go to Active Tender ->”English to French and German Video Games”. There is a link to open the sample. To submit, choose this tender and click “View and Bid” bellow.
When submitting indicate language pair, paste sample and click “Bid”.
That’s it, I really don’t think it’s that complicated.

Please try it, and let me know if you are still not successful.

For a case you haven’t found the link to application form:

Please register prior to submitting the sample.

You upload the sample here http://001yourtranslationservice.com/newsystem/cgi-bin/b.cgi?ref=job10001

Register, go to Active Tender -> on Translation of Video Game there is a link to sample. To submit, click “View and Bid” bellow.

Please find attached several files and the comments page for them (there were issues only in 2 files).
Please check them, and delete any remaining comments, remaining “+”s etc. I think Karel might check them before he delivers, but in any case, I would be happier to know that they were 100% clean coming from you.
