I have alreay uploaded File 17(e-j_o-r). Inside are files h,i,j from , which need to be fixed and the corresponding comments. The Files from I sent to last week. I can’t upload them because, I already owerwrote the project.
Could you please inform and send her the files (17 x ynd y) and could you please also inform , that her files 17 h,i,j are on the server and to try receiving it from the server?
About spellchecking: I’M sorry for my late answer, yesterday my Internet didn’t work, so I read only today your message. Do you still need s.o. to do it. Now I would have time for it.
I’m ready for other files to proofread. Maybe Jens’s are prepared? They were not yet in File 17 (e-r).

Yesterday I was speaking with about sending files. Are you sure translators can Receive what you send them?
I guess there is not need to send any files if you hadn’t made changes in them – because she must have them herself?
With spellchecking I will need help, but not right now, may be tomorrow or on Monday.
If you are ready for proofreading, please tell to directly, and he will send you files. I believe there is a mountain of files to proofread!
Thank you.

Thanks for you reply. That’s basically what I did so I’m happy I don’t need to take extra time changing all the hyphens back again.
When I worked with tags hidden, obviously I could not see the blue tags and the imported words containing hyphens would look like : poingdegel. Since I changed it to “display short tags”, I can see : poingdegel
I left the tags at the end of the sentence when not needed in the target text.
I don’t remember how I dealt with the problem when the tags were hidden. I guess sometimes it wouldn’t allow me to delete a caracter I couldn’t even see and I just typed the whole translated segment left of that invisible caracter so it would end up at the end of the sentence. Then, I could just use the arrows or Alt+Ins to go to the next segment.
Another two questions:
1. I guess the terms EXP and HP and so on are not to be translated. Is that right?
2. Do you know if there is going to be an updated glossary available anytime soon on the FTP server?
Speak to you soon

I didnt work with the following files, because they have to be fixed: So they can work on their own files (the ones they downloaded from the server).
(17 x and y) reasons: many obsolete dictionary terms, continuously mixed-up faction names (Jadeon where it should be Vim, adressing issues (“Du” where it should be “Ihr”) )
She can take 17 s and t as an example, inside the txf-file I sent .
17 (h, i, j)- reasons: several segments were not translated.
Could you please inform them ( and ) about they have to do?
—————————-
asked me to proofread files. I would appreciate if you could send me the special instructions for proofreading.

I received a feedback from proofreader who had been working on your files. She had found some serious issues and inconsistencies. We would like you to repair 2 of your files. Here is the opinion of the proofreader:
(17 x and y) reasons: many obsolete dictionary terms, continuously mixed-up faction names (Jadeon where it should be Vim, addressing issues (“Du” where it should be “Ihr”) )
Therefore, please repair files 17x and 17y.
There are 2 other files, 17s and 17t which had been entirely repaired by the proofreader. We would like you to use them as a reference.
I had uploaded these files to the usual files server. Enter to FTP directory -Files for repairing folder. Your file is 17s17t.rar. These are Excel files so you will not need to receive them to Transit.
Please, take a look at these reference files, and go carefully over your 17x and 17y files repairing the problematic issues.
Additionally, I would like you to read the most updated German guidelines, which were uploaded by the lead translator yesterday to CS. I believe they clarify many issues and give various examples.
Please download and Receive the most updated version of the Main Glossary.
Feel free addressing me with any issues which may be unclear or problematic, I will try to help. I am available every day here, on CS, or on new OT.
Please confirm receipt of this message.

I had received a comment form the proofreaders regarding your files. In files h,i,j you left 30 to 40 segments per file untranslated. Please fix that. Proofreader uploaded your file to the usual files server. Enter to FTP directory -Files for repairing folder.
Your file is 17_e-j_o-r_ _proofread.PXF.
Please receive it into Transit and correct files h,i, and j. After that you can Send it to . Please mention, that these are the repaired files.
Please confirm receipt of this message.
—————————-
I don’t have them. I will ask lead translator and get back to you.
asked me to proofread files. I would appreciate if you could send me the special instructions for proofreading.

Do you have instructions for proofreaders? asked translator to proofread and he is requesting instructions or guidelines for proofreading.
Please let me know.
—————————-
To let you know, I informed both translators. I tried to Receive the file you exported for , and it was successful, so she will also be able to do it.
As to, I uploaded for her 2 excel files I had which you already proofread,a nd sent her to read’s new super-updated instructions.
Hope it will help her produce a better quality next time.
Thank you for help

This is very strange. I opened my files again, the ones I worked on, and everything is there. No translation is missing except for 5 or so segments in at the end of file 17i.
There was an alignment problem with file 17i from segment 784 to more or less the end which, at first, made it impossible for me to translate the remaining 360 words. I informed about this and sent him what I had translated so far. I am thinking that maybe the proofreader has received this incomplete file instead of the final version?
then asked me to repair the misalignment which I managed somehow by setting the segment status manually to “not translated”. The software didn’t let me do this for all relevant segments at once so I had to do quite a lot of them one by one.
However, I couldn’t retrieve the last five (! not 30 or 40) or so segments, Transit crashed every time I tried.
Just to make sure that the proofreader has received the correct file, the name of the fixed file and final version I sent to is “German_JD_100201_Localize_17h.i.j_fixed.TXF”. I will upload it here as well so you can check it out.
Should there still be missing segments after all, please let me know and I will fix it.
The file you indicated, 17_e-j_o-r_ _proofread.PXF, doesn’t give any clarification on this matter because the files 17h,i,j within are completely untranslated except for the pretranslated segments.
Can you please ask the proofreader to look into this again, check out the file “German_JD_100201_Localize_17h.i.j_fixed.TXF” and, if needed, upload the files where only some segments seem to have been left untranslated so I can fix those?
Many thanks

my name is Stuckl, and due to some technical problems I could not join the project until now. But finally everything work, and I received my first assignment from Kare. He told me to contact you for the latest instructions and information.
In addition, I also have some questions:
My files are 1001_13e and 1001_13f. the first one (1001_13e) already contains a translation, and I wonder if this file is for revision or not.
I also downloaded a file named “ubersetzungsextrakt”, and I would like to know if it is to be translated, too.
I also would like to ask you if you can tell me how to count the words (100% matches, fuzzy matches etc). This is important for the invoice.
My last question is how to mark a file as translated.
Thank you in advance for a quick reply under: [email protected]

While translating the file localizing_13o, I have come across the term “Race” a lot, as in people of the Athan Race.
I feel a bit uncomfortable translating that as “Rasse” into German, which is a term we do not use very lightly in Germany, and I actually think it is officially “politically incorrect” to speak of “race”.
Has this issue come up before? I could just leave it out and translate is as “Athan people”, which in my opinion would mean the same thing.

It is possible that proofreader had your old files. I suggest (to save time of asking and waiting), please send the repaired files again to , with a short explanatory letter.
I will inform the proofreader.

Welcome to the team.
I will gladly send you some useful and updated info. For this purpose please open a support ticket on our OT : http://translationstop.com/OT/
I recommend you to study well the knowledge base on this website, it answers most of your questions. Please do not begin translating before you received information form me or read instructions on the OT site.
Your files may contain pretranslated segments. You should use Alt+Ins or Ctrl+plus to move between segments, as these shortcuts will always take you to the next untranslated segment. When you put your cursor in a target segment, you can see “translated” or “untranslated” written bellow the working window.
You should translate all segments which are not marked as Translated. Some segments are only partially pre-translated, and you need to finalize them. You do not need to proofread or alter pretranslated segments.
Why did you download file “ubersetzungsextrakt”? You translate and work only on the files which were assigned to you by
– Alt+ins marks segment as translated
– Ctrl +Plus goes to next untranslated without marking the segment as translated.
I am waiting for your message on OT.

No, this issue did not come up before, you are the first to mention it.
On one side I understand what you mean when you say you are uncomfortable with using the word “race”. On the other side, just being practical, 10 files with this term had already been sent to the client. Which means it is better to keep using this term for the sake of consistency.
And on the third side, if I understand correctly this line of the game – Athan are not humans, i.e. not people, but really a different race, I would even say different species. And they live in a different realm. So I doubt that players would be insulted by seeing this word in this context.
I am sorry, but i guess we will have to stick to the old term. The closer we get to the dead line and the more files will get sent, the more difficult it will be to change terms.

I‚´ve just completed German_JD_100201_Localize_13l and like to ask you if you could have a closer look at the segments 235 and 322.
Beside others, they‚´re also marked with “+” and I wonder if I chose the correct (informal) address (Du). For this I also had to change the
address in the pretranslated segments before (234/321).
I also did a spell check and found several typos in the pretranslation which I‚´ve corrected.
.. and again some notes on the Main1 Dictionary:
Exhaustion = Erschupfung (should be: Erschupfungs-Arborik?)
” = “Das Leben ist nur ein Traum. (this is confusing in pretranslated segments)
ENU = FRA (correct?)
—————————-
What didn’t you like about segments 235 and 322? I think I understand the meaning… I can put it in other words, if you like.
As to formal-informal – my German is as bad as my Chinese. I really can not evaluate if you can use informal or not. So let’s leave it for proofreader to decide.
And what about ENU? I didn’t find such word in the file.

wrote me that she thinks you have not final files. She has an alignment issue, and first she sent uncompleted files. But later she pretty much resolved it, leaving only 5 empty segments in one of them in the end, and sent it again. I told her to send the completed files again to . So I guess they will be available for proofreading once he gets them.

I just meant the formal/informal addressing (to game character or game player) in the segments and if the proofreaders will have a look on this, I‚´m fine 😉
I didn‚´t state the term “ENU” is in the file. I noticed it in the Main1 dictionary and just wonder if it‚´s correct.

I just uploaded a file with some comments about the English source text.
—————————-
Please forward the following comments to the lead translator.
To remain easily legible, should high numbers be separated by a space in French ? ( 100 000e vs 100000e)
Consistency issues:
Wonderlande has been translated by Pays des Merveillese and Pays Merveilleuxe.
‚« Heaven / heavens ‚» has been translated by Paradise, ciele or cieuxe.
Which one should be preferred?
—————————-
Thank you, I will forward to her.
I have a question myself – do you have time to spellcheck 4 French files today? They need to be spellchecked on one side, and on the other side, some issues found while vetting need to be resolved. On of the most problematic things we found is inconsistency with some terms (we spotted the most visible ones).
Can you please do this today (preferably before afternoon, as we want to deliver them today)?
Please let me know ASAP.
—————————-
I asked about correcting your problematic files. Since you are not sure how to do it yourself and since it may require you to go over everything, including the pretranslated segments, we are proposing that you will offer a discount for the problematic files, and they will be repaired by proofreader.
Please let me know if you accept this proposal and communicate directly to about the discount you may offer.

I communicated to about the problematic files, and he agrees that if you give him a discount how you proposed, files will be repaired by proofreader.
Can you please communicate with about the discount directly?
PS: I haven’t seen you sending comments for a while, if you have any comments to glossary or on translated files, please send them. Your opinion is important.
—————————-
Please confirm that you received the repaired files. I don’t have an email address from you so I sent the files ziped to s email address and asked to forward it to you…
Hope that worked.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

I accept your proposition you said I cannot do it myself. As I go with my translations, I’ve noticed also the same problem with inserted terms from the dictionnary.
I’ve also noticed some tags from English that are not needed in the French translation.
So I can understand that it seems a lot of work, but more than half of it was not due to my mistake.
As you know better than me, how do you estimate the time needed to repare my mistake ? I would appreciate your estimation, as I quite don’t know what to propose.

Well, now you calmed me down.
But in my opinion these segments are better formal – they are speaking about some spiritual stuff, so familiarity would be strange. But proofreader shall decide.
If it’s Enu, it’s proper name. I will pass this to Lead Translator.

If you just want me to spellcheck the documents in Word (copy the text in Word and just checking the spelling without reading the document), I can probably do it in a couple of hours.
If you want me to actually proofread the files, I don¢‚¬„¢t think I will have enough time, since already assigned me a bunch of proofreading files.
—————————-
I’m sorry but what do you mean by ‘OT’?
—————————-
No proofreading required. 2 of these files were translated by you. All problematic (in my opinion) locations are clearly marked. knows I’m asking you to do this.
If you can do it, please open a ticket on OT (http://translationstop.com/OT/), with SPELLCHECKING in the title. I can attach files there.

Just submit a ticket and attach your file to it (please save it as a .doc, because my Office gets stuck when sees more modern files)
I’m sorry but what do you mean by ‘OT’?
—————————-
Sorry about the delay, I received the message on Sunday and needed some rest.
Allright, just like I told , I can’t really provide guidelines for proofreaders. Proofreading is all about finding and fixing mistakes so it will all depends on the proofreaders skills.
What I can do however, is help the proofreaders with consistency issues. I have uploaded 2 Excel files, “French_Reduced” and “Glossary Updates” for this exact reason.
Since we have no time to update the glossary too often, I have kept track of all changes I brought to the glossary.
“French_Reduced” contains most of the French glossary with the latest corrections I made to the existing entries.
“Glossary_Updates” contains important new glossary entries that are not yet in the Transit Dictionary.
It is crucial that the proofreaders read at least the new entries once so that we can keep a good level of consistency.
The French glossary file is also very useful to check some terms when unsure of the relevant translations. The proofreaders should refer to it as much as possible.
This should be of great help, please let me know if there are any questions/comments about this.
With many thanks
Do you have instructions for proofreaders? asked translator to proofread and he is requesting instructions or guidelines for proofreading.
Please let me know.

Good morning!
There are files, and many.
Please make first the ones you already have.
Then please make file:
JD_100201_Localize_9i
And after that, please take these 2 files:
JD_100201_Localize_9g
JD_100201_Localize_9m
located them in the Proofread- German folder on the server.
Please rename the PROOFREAD files adding “German_” to file name as soon as you receive them to avoid confusions.
Please confirm receipt!

Will work on them today

Now very important!
added instructions to what we do.
He would like us to replace ~55~ with & not only in target text, but also in English source. There is a very significant reason for that. We deliver to client Excel files, with English in first column and translation in the second column. Client has a special localization software, which scans the Excel files, and looks for particular English segments. Then, having recognized the necessary segment, it replaces it in the game with German/French translation of that segment. Even a smallest change can lead to that the program will not recognize the segment; for example change in capitalization. Therefore we don’t touch the source text. But the mark & was in the original source, and was changed by us to ~55~ to avoid issues in Transit. So before we deliver to client it has to be changed back to & so that the segments will be recognized.
Please do not make ANY other changes to English source text, even if there are obvious mistakes (and in some files there are mistakes). Only change the ~55~ or the #$13 string. it is important to be careful not to add spaces before or after the &name& or &sex& if there wasn’t a space before the ~55~ mark.
Additionally I would like to remind you to look after lost hyphens, not to miss lacking spaces, periods where they shouldn’t be etc. Please do not make any changes to German text itself, if you see question mark instead of exclamation mark or period or the opposite – please do not change, just mark read. Same if they break translation to two sentences or unite 2 sentences. Just mark red and comment.
Please make these files well.
If there are any questions – please ask me. Today I will finish soon, but I will be back online tomorrow morning and reply any questions you may have.
I am uploading here on CS an updated Vetting file, updated in accordance to new instructions from . Please read it.
Please confirm receipt!
I can start to vet files today.
