Files Translated German Proofread

I am very much intrigued. What do the colors mean?

———————-

PS: These files require comparing proofread to unproofread before vetting.

Please confirm.

_B, one of the translator turned in an unworked file. By that I mean not a single extra word got translated. Only the original pre-translated phrases are in French. Can you take over and finish it in ASAP?

So that you can start right away, I’m attaching it here. If you are not available, simply tell me you can’t right away and ignore the file.

🙂 The colors means that those cell are the same.
If the everything is correct, when left colored lines will be responded to right colored lined.
It makes sense if you found many repetition of the text.
So it is enough to check just one cell to be sure that all other is ok (great saving of time)
And also it helps you to spot difference with translation for the same English source.
Or multiply changes for several cell at once.
Some of the cell you see had the same issue – extra space,so you dont add space to each cell separately(which would last long, but just re-copy changed cell.)

———————-

Oh, shoot, I almost forgot. Start from segment 372. The previous segment has been translated, already. Do not touch the first 372 segments. Don’t mark it as translated either. We need it to stay as it is so we know what your word count actually is.

Tefack, one translator had his computer crashed, making him unable to finish his job. Gah, why do these things happen when we’re late already.

Anyway, can you take Unfinished_18b_FRA.PXF ?
You can download it from
http://001yourtranslationservice.com/cgi-bin/ls_1001_TR.cgi

Start from segment 215.

Carine, sorry about that.
We aren’t sure how it happened, but the offending Extracts are apparently doppelgangers from different sections. We have no idea which section and can’t be bothered to find out, but they’ve been told to behave.

Meanwhile, the right Extracts were pulled out the basement and will be send to you forthwith. Please take care of them nicely.

They are at the same place as before, same name.

I received the task, but I need your help. I can’t find the folder with unproofread files to compare with proofread ones.
.

Karel

It looks like there is some serious alignment problem with the 18 repetitions files and about half of it isn’t even translated.
Unless I am doing something wrong, there must be a problem.

I’m sorry
Carine

———————-

Sorry, have already found.

files received.
Here are new files for today.

Please confirm.

Can confirm. You will have them back within the hour.

files received.
Here are new files for today. In these files are quite lot of issues… 19e I saw some not up-to-date glossary terms, in this and other files quite lot of +marks to be resolved. I did not prepare a separate word file with comments – I don’t have time. Please follow the notes inside the files. I hope it doesn’t make checking more complicated.

Please confirm.

———————-

Sorry, forgot again. Here are two more files which got little delayed in processing.

Please confirm.

———————-

Ok, it will take me a bit longer to check them then… I hope I can resolve all issues. You should have them back in couple of hours.

———————-

If you haven’t started file 2c, please don’t do it. If you began – leave it and pass to next file. You hours are recorded, because it’s our mistake.

———————-

Please receive re-vetted files German 18p,q,t,m.

M
p.s. about back-up. I hope I could upload all the files to “Re-vetted”, because some of them was deleted and I had to restore them.

———————-

2 other files also don’t have any changes. Please, check if everything Ok about them and inform me if I can start vetting them.
JD_100201_Localize_3a
JD_100201_Localize_3b

———————-

I have started it, and there were no changes…so in compliance with instructions I inform you about.

M

How were these files?
I checked the first butch of 18something files you returned earlier, and the cells were still not aligned well. I remember that there is this issue with OpOff, that doesn’t allow to do it. They still require some work. I returned them to Ales, and he is now aligning them, but in the same time he came up with something that I have to inform you about:

In German, if there is some concept made from joining of two nouns, they are separated with hyphen. This we know. But sometimes, there will be few nouns, related all to one other noun.
Example:
Vim Jacket, Shoes, Hat and Sword: Jacket- und Shoes- und Hat- und Sword-Vim.
Or, sometimes few adjectives refer to same noun:
Social and Medical Insurance: Social- und Medical-Insurance.

See the English, and if this is the situation there – do not delete the hyphens. In this kinds of files full of tags and commands it is particularly difficult, but please take this in mind. We have a very good translator checking our German files after vetting, so if not sure – leave the hyphen and mark red. She’ll check.

I a retiring “early” today, but leaving you more files:
Revetting German:
JD_100201_Localize_16i Ales
JD_100201_Localize_16l Ales
JD_100201_Localize_16m Ales
and
JD_100201_Localize_9d
JD_100201_Localize_9f

If there are files, which may require aligning the cells in MSExcel, please tell me, because I don’t always open files which come from you – they go straight to spelling and form the to client. So make sure to let me know, and I will have a person with MSExcel to align them.

So please confirm and good night!

S

If you compare the translated and proofread files, and there are no differences between them, please let me know and DO NOT vet the files.

———————-

Wow, that is strange… Does it look like the files – 19 butch – had been proofread? Any changes?

———————-

I can start working on the repetitions if you want, I have been stuck a few days with the files 18 which required a lot of work. Pace should be much better with the next files.

I still have a few files 08 to proofread and the files 17u_v that have been uploaded for me are in German so I can’t proofread them until the French version is uploaded instead.

Please let me know which file to download and I’ll get to it.

With many

Alexandre

Thank you for the explanation. Being honestly I thought “-und” is lost hyphen.
Sorry about alignment, I tried to fix line breaks I have seen. But I spent so much time of string fixing, so did not have time to check it properly and was sure that you remember, that I am limited a bit with my program.
I ll check those files, and let you know if they additionally require alignment fixing.

Confirmed

Good night

M

———————-

Not really… There were a few untranslated bits as well, which I do not think were in my part of the translation, so I would have left them alone.
Also whenever there was a ” sign, the system inserted the sentence “Das Leben ist nur ein Traum.” – I came across that in translation, but in the files for spellchecking that had always been removed. In 19 e and f however, it stills seems to be in there.

Cheers

———————-

fine, then I’m waiting for your instructions.

———————-

Hi
Sorry, as I told you I was available only this morning.
I’ll be available tomorrow the whole day though, so don’t hesitate to contact me if needed!

———————-

I just looked briefly through the file and you are right, the file needs some work. Here are some pointers for the proofreader:
No accents on capital letters
Place names should start with capital letters (“Monolithe de Patriote”)
Item names, monster names and character titles should NOT start with a capital letter (“habitant du ciel”)
“OK”, “Ok”, etc. should be translated by “D’accord” (English words should be avoided in order not to give a translation style that would be too modern)
“Costs X Gold” should be “Coûte X pièces d’or” (gold is not countable in French)
“Sunstream City” should be translated by “Sunstream”
“Creascent Peak” should be translated by “Pic du Croissant”

———————-

Please find attached the assessment for , file 15 repetitions.

———————-

Results of comparison:

3c – 14 changes
3d – 48 changes
5c – 1501 changes

Thank you for both evaluations. What you wrote about the proofreader is just what I told him about, and I will tell again.

The evaluation of is terrible. I’m afraid that even if he would follow guidelines it would not increase his capacity to implement correct grammar. I will inform Karel.

———————-

S

Please go ahead and vet them.
Take in mind, that you have to look for N/AAAA in the files. If you find any, please Ctrl+F, and use the “fund and replace” function. In the “find what” line you paste the N/AAAA string, and leave the “replace with” line empty. Then press replace all, and the program will delete the N/AAAA in all document (both in English and target).

Does N/A mean the same as N/AAA? Should I replace all N/A with empty line?

Good morning

P.S. Non of the files (16m,l,i, I have sent yesterday) and 9d,f requires additional checking on alignment.
