That way, translators may skim through the already finished parts quickly and then read the updates more thoroughly, while new translators could read the whole of it. I hope you are fine with this method. Also, I have not prepared the updates in German yet, but will if someone would prefer it.
Concerning the grammatical mistakes mentions:
She is correct. However, we cannot deal with each such lapse, I think, and have to hope each translator thoroughly proofreads their own text before turning it in.
The web document she posted is quite a good additional reference for German translators.
I’m really unsure about the GLOBAL VARIABLE strings. It seems they are mingled with in-game text (“increasing, man!”), which I would think we should translate. Other than that, I fully agree we should leave these untranslated, at least for now.
Regarding hyphens:
Yes, that is indeed a huge problem. I have communicated with and we’re experimenting with inserting “°°°” for the hyphens, which can apparently be substituted at the very end, after files are re-exported back to Excel. I know this is not optimal, but so far, our best shot, I think.
