Proofread Files Sent to be Translated Again

“I’m ain’t doing this for my health there poindexter. I do this to make a living.”

Poindexter means “nerd” See http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=poindexter 🙂

This is gobbledegook. The translator didn’t understand it, neither do I.

Can you help ?

As it is taking me a long time to proofread those files (due to a lot of inconsistencies), I don’t think I will be able to do more than a couple tomorrow. Could you please reassign the rest to someone else please?

Thanks

Hello

I did it, the file JD_100201_Localize_14t.DEU is uploaded on the server according to the instructions. Now I’m ready to get the next one.

—————————-

As it is taking me a long time to proofread those files (due to a lot of inconsistencies), I don’t think I will be able to do more than a couple tomorrow. Could you please reassign the rest to someone else please?

Of course. Please let me know ASAP which one you intend to keep proofreading and I’ll reassign the rest.

—————————-

currently, me, and Doris are finishing up file 8 and are then out of files to proofread. So if you would like to assign us more files for proofing, please go ahead.

—————————-

I need confirmation that you’re done with that.

The .pxf you sent is labeled just as 18g but has both 18g and 18h, yet I recall that you said you were still working with 18h and would be done in 3 days. Then some hours later you said done and file showed up.

Is the pxf just for 18g or can I use 18h too? If it’s the first, try to get it done today.

—————————-

I have proofread two more files today and spellchecked them as well.

File 10h by_B:

Mainly typos

Informal addressing in two segments (tu instead of vous)

Inconsistency in translation of some names of places (Grotte du demon scelle)

Grammar mistakes (accord sujet-vb : les a¢mes m¢‚¬„¢a)

Spelling mistake (sense/cense)

Few mistakes and good level in French overall.

File 10j by Tefack:

Unneeded capital initials (common nouns)

No space needed after ¢‚¬Ëœ

Few typos

Orbe is masculine

Spelling mistakes (et bien instead of eh bien)

Unneeded double spacing.

A few clumsy French structures, mainly because the translator tends to stick too much to the English way of buidling sentences.

Mixup between singular and plural (the guards ¢° le garde)

Conjugation mistakes (je vous transporterez)

Few untranslated names of places (Doom Bog)

I’ll send more tomorrow, I hope this helps.

Thanks

I had just uploaded the Vetting file to translators files server FTP-Comments and Files.

Please delete it after you download it, there are hourly wages or translators and i don’t want them to see what their peers are charging.

(snip file list)

Had already been sent for vetting and assigned to people. Please try to avoid this kind of confusions somehow.

We’ll start making notes on which files have been sent to you. This way we should be able to avoid this in the future.

May-be I will send you my vetting page that you could record what had already been vetted?

Please do! That will help me a lot.

—————————-

Thank you for the comment. We are aware of the situation with the pretranslations. The only parts you need to proofread are your own. To do that you can Ctrl+plus when finishing translation of segment instead of Alt+ins. This way they reamain marked “untranslated”. When you reach th end of the file, you go up again and begin proofreading, this time Alt+ins your segments. This assurs you proofread only what you are paid for.

I have a question – do you have time to spellcheck tomorrow? If yes, please open a ticket on OT http://translationstop.com/OT/ and title it FRENCH SPELLCHECKING. I will upload files there first thing in the morning. If you can’t -let me know you’re busy.

Thank you for the feedback.

However, please bear in mind that the files which sent to me were always partially translated by someone else, and from what I gathered I am not paid for these segments.

I noticed the inconsistencies mentioned by the proofreader, and even spent some time correcting some of them. However, my time is as precious as anyone’s, and I rapidly grew tired of correcting segments for which I am not paid.

I very likely made a few mistakes, but I most definitely did not make some of the ones mentioned here, which could only be made by someone with aproximate command of the French language.

I felt I had to mention this, as you will probably be filtering out the weaker translators for future projects.

Thanks

—————————-

Do you have time to spellcheck tomorrow?

I will have lot of files.

Please let me know.

Please let me know.

—————————-

I will be available only 2 hours tomorrow morning, but if I can help don’t hesitate to send me some files for spellchecking, even if I will only be able to work on something like 5.000 words maybe, I don’t know exactly.

No, the fiul contains both 18g and 18h, but only 18g is complete. I have not completed the 18h yet, it should be done tomorrow May the 1st.

Hi

not sure who to contact, so it’s gotta be you 🙂

I just uploaded 19d_GER_Jan to the server.

I also uploaded a file named 19d-GER_Jan_Terminology.

It contains some terms I used that differ from the terms used in the

Main Glossary (some of the Main Glossary terms did not make sense in

the context of 19d).

The proofreader might want to take a look at this file.

Cheers

Jan

—————————-

Thanks. I will keep 14n and o.

Have a good weekend!

M-A

—————————-

I believe already assigned you some.

If you can still take more I’d like to add 8t, 11j, 14kt, 17n, and 19d.

If not, please let me know.

—————————-

your file 8z made it fine.

file 18r is empty though. It’s only 1k big.

Can you make sure that you do the Send correctly and then upload it again, please?

—————————-

Can you send a confirmation on whether you can take those additional 6 files or not, please?

—————————-

when I checked your 8z file, I found that significant portions of it are left in English and that the entire file are marked as untranslated. Even the French ones.

Can you check and make sure that you sent me the correct translated file?

Thank you.

—————————-

Daniela, can you tell me when you’ll be done with 15i, please?

—————————-

German translator has a message for you:

__________________________________________

I’ll start with file 1c as suggested. Could you please let me know which other files I am supposed to proofread.

Fricke (German proofreader)

__________________________________________

He is not registered here, so let me know what to tell him.

If he’s available during the weekend, we definitely do need him.

There’s 1 file available right now. There should be 5 more files finishing this weekend and they will go to him to be proofread very soon after the translators turned those in.

For now if he goes to

http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/New.files/German/

please ask him to proofread G2_17m_DEU_tobe_proofread.PXF.

That’s it for now. The other files are already taken by someone else.

—————————-

Thank you for your reply.

I would have been happy to help you with spellchecking, but unfortunately I will not be available this weekend. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks

—————————-

I had been vetting some files you proofread, and would like you to take in mind several issues:

1.I noticed you leftLVasLV, when it should be NV.

Here are some common French abbreviations:

HP – PV

SP – ES

DEF – DEF

ACC – PRE

EVA – EVA

LV- NV

Level – Niveau

Stun Res – Res. Etourdir

Paralyze Res – Res. Paralysie

Sleep Res – Res. Sommeil

Weaken Res – Res. Affaiblir

Silence Res. Res. Silence

__________________________________________

2. In file 12a, you leftSunstreamCityuntranslated in several segments, and in others was either “Cite de Sunstream” or “Cite de Sunstream City”. The agreement on this term is just “Sunstream”. Please note.

3. Additionally, there is lot of capitalization of objects names and character titles (also inconsistently – some places capitalized, some not). Please take in mind, that items names, monster names and character titles should not be capitalized.

Only place names and names of characters should be capitalized.

Please address me here if you are not sure about something, and I will forward your question to lead translator if necessary.

—————————-

One more thing. In your files hyphens get lost when exported to Excel. This will be repaired on spellchecking phase with the current files. But for the future ones – please leave where should be hyphen. We will replace it during vetting.

—————————-

and I are ready for any proofreading files you would like to assign to us.

—————————-

I am canceling your file order because you did not confirm it more then 24h after the assignment.

Do not vet files 7b and 7c.

If you will be available and would like to have files, send me a message and I will assign you.

—————————-

So let me get this straight. You and are part of a team, right?

may have contacted you already, but just to make it clear.

I’d like you to proofread 8t, 11j, 14kt, 17m, 17n, and 19d.

You can find the files below:

http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/New.files/German/

username and password is 001 and 001.

—————————-

yes, I can take these files!

—————————-

yes, and I’m sorry for the unclear introduction on my part. I and (and one other proofreader) are working on a team. So we will now proofread the files you assigned to us (me and ).

—————————-

Stephan, as the title said, the proofread file is actually missing 11j. Can you send it, please?

—————————-

please use the new file server at

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/newsystem/cgi-bin/up_1001_TR.cgi

Also did assign you 8f? My note shows it was assigned to a… ?

—————————-

Yes, did assign me 8f and I started translation last night with segment # 1000 until segment # 1100 because he ask me this morning to stop translation and to return the file immediately.

Now, the file is available on the server again and I’m awaiting further instructions by him.

Hope this information will help you.

—————————-

File 11j was not part of the batch!

—————————-

RE/JD_100201_Localize_8f.DEU

I confirm that I stopped translation of the above file which is available again on the server now.

I’m here at your’s disposal awaiting your new orders.

—————————-

File 11j was not part of the batch!

You’re right.

I got confused because the name is 11f-m, implying the whole series. Sorry.

—————————-

I can finish it for Monday morning

I had a computer crash and had to start it all over again.

Daniela

Daniela, can you tell me when you’ll be done with 15i, please?

—————————-

Did you spellcheck files 17e and 17p?

Please let me know ASAP.

Thank you.

—————————-

I don’t know if you’re working today, so please let me know asap if you got this message. I have prepared a updated glossary for import into transit.

I can upload it to the server with notes on how to import it into Transit, but could you then spread the word that everyone can download it?

About the Glossary:

I found out that you probably don’t have access to upload to Glossaries folder. So please upload both to Comments to proofreaders folder.

—————————-

I am always working, particularly on the Workers’ Day 🙂

Sure, please upload, just let me know exactly where it is and I will ask to distribute mass mail to proofreaders (I guess it’s too late with translators).

I have to you a question myself – I am vetting files 6a and b, and in theme were some lines longer then 31char, some probably missing hyphens and misplaced middle points. Can you edit it? Or do you want me to address a usual spellcheker about it? I don’t know what is the level of importance of these files.

I find the paragraph below quite difficult. I don’t think the translator understood either.

Can you help please?

My life is *cough* long.-

-Why? -I promised Shaw Danon and I’d carry through *cough* to the end. -Besides, the revived Bilu has my *cough* blood in her body. -That means I’m her father. -As a father, I’m happy to do these things for her.

Thanks!

I’ve uploaded a zip file and an instructions (word) file to the server.

—————————-

I’ve just translated 18o up to segment 1000 and I’m awaiting instruction to know if I have to translate the remaining of the file tomorrow or if another translator will do it.

—————————-

Just to let you know, I uploaded 14n again, since I had to make a change.

M

—————————-

Just wanted to check with you again if you got my fully translated version of 13r file.

I was surprised to find somebody else’s name on that file in the accounting file, so I wanted to make sure you had found the final version of 13r I sent to and that my work would be taken into account.

Thanks

—————————-

please use the new file upload method.

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/newsystem/cgi-bin/up_1001_TR.cgi

The old method is being phased out.

With the old method I have to download the file to my computer and then upload them to the main file server before I can start working with it.

—————————-

No, I didn’t spellcheck any files. Only proofread.

—————————-

Ok I’ve uploaded everything on the other link.

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought this was the new method, as my old method was to send them directly to …

Tell me if there is any problem and if/when you have more work for me, so I can get organised.

Thank you.

I was surprised to find somebody else’s name on that file in the accounting file, so I wanted to make sure you had found the final version of 13r I sent to and that my work would be taken into account.

I went back and looked at my records, both on paper and electronic and found no trace of your 13r. On the 24th I wasn’t technically on Kenax yet. After I’m on Kenax I got no 13r from either you nor . You may remember my mail inquiring about that.

From the spreadsheet note I gather the file you sent has 1825 words untranslated. Since I have no copy of this file I can’t check on this myself. As for what happened to a fully translated version of this file, I have no idea.

You will have to take it up to himself. I don’t have the power to assign translation jobs to people and nor does I think, so it must be who reassigned the file. In your case, I did not even suggest that the file be reassigned nor do ever asked me what to do about that. However, has told me on two separate occassions that he has given me everything file he has.

I regret that I can’t help you more than this.

—————————-

A couple days ago you re-sent 18a.TXF, except again it actually contains 13s.

Why? I already have it the first time. I also note that there’s a 4byte filesize between the newer and the older 13s.FRA

Can you tell me what’s going on and whether I should redo your file?

And next time double check and make sure the file name matches the content. It’s hard to keep track of dozens of files everyday. 🙂

—————————-

Thanks for your reply.

I did send you an message through CS on the 28th of April, though, saying I could easily send you the fully translated file again if needed.

I’ll send a email to to see what he says.

Thanks

—————————-

I should be able to work on proofs tomorrow (Sunday). You can send me two or three files max if you still have files to proof.

You did, I got that mail, and asked about the file, and that was the 2nd time he told me he has nothing else. I took no note of it and went on with the rest of my job.

I probably could have asked you to send me that file back then, but at the time it really didn’t seem that urgent and I figured it could wait. For this I apologize. I really didn’t expect to reassign it without asking either you or me.

—————————-

I sent a proofreading report. The translation isn’t very good at all. It took me around 7 hours in all to proofread both files.

M-A

—————————-

Well, the file you sent uploads fine.

But it contains the untranslated file!

Very likely you mistakenly sent us back the raw file. Please check your archive and resend the finished file.

—————————-

Fabienne, the 16b file you sent is the raw file.

It’s the same thing we sent you!

Deadline’s fast approaching, so please send us the correct file ASAP.

—————————-

Now that you’re done with your translation, would you be interested in proofreading?

—————————-

I have proofread four more files today, all of them I spellchecked.

Here are the comments corresponding to the files:

files 10l, 10m and 10o ():

Few untranslated English words (Monolith)

Spelling mistake (ga¢teau)

Refine is translated affiner instead of raffiner

Unneeded capital initials (common nouns)

French expression mixup (avoir affaire/avoir a faire)

Some sentences sound ‚« translated ‚» because the translator tends to follow English structures. (a§a manque de circonstancielles en debut de phrase, tournures trop calquees)

Misunderstanding of few English sentences.

Noun gender confusion: jade is masculine, usage is masculine

The translator didn¢‚¬„¢t understand the meaning of some tags when they are to be replaced by the name of a character in the game.

Mixup plural and singular (the Footman ¢° les fantassins)

file 10p ();

Noun gender confusion (jade and jaspe are masculine)

Unneeded capital initials (common nouns)

Missing hyphens (tournures interrogative et imperative : savez-vous ?, peut-etre)

Grammar mistake (apres que + indicatif)

Spelling mistakes (extrement instead of extremement, et bien instead of eh bien)

Little mixup with tags in the exchange process: the tags should not be moved!

Few mistakes and very good translation level overall.

I only have three files left I need to proofread but there are all translators I have already sent you comments about, so the only thing I should send you tomorrow is confirmation that I spellchecked those last three files (10q, 10r and 10s).

—————————-

I just checked and I only can find the translated and finalized file…I’ll try again but I also send the translated file as a zip file to to make sure that you receive the file in due time.

Please check with him. I sent it yesterday and again today to make sure!

If it helps, the file we sent you have 2234 untranslated words. The file you sent us also have 2234 untranslated words. If you do a Status report you should be able to tell which file was our file and which one was your work.

—————————-

yesterday you sent us 18o French Translation French_JD_100201_Localize_18o.txf

But as I check it for alignment, I discovered that about 60% of it is still in English. A status check shows 2126 words untranslated.

What’s going on?

—————————-

Honestly, i don’t follow you any more… Do you have a valid 18 in your possession or not? I send it because you asked me to. As for the 4bytes size difference, I just resend the file, so I cannot explain it at all.

Sorry about the hassle, I just don’t know what’s going on.

By the way I forgot to ask, but I sometimes have a few other little projects on the side, but I’ve refused everything else untill monday to stay available for this urgent project.

Just so that I can get organised with my work, do you perhaps know when the next project would start?

I have no solid data, only wild guesses. But I think you’re free for the whole week at least and more likely two.

It’s okay. I have a valid 18a. And also 13s. And also 14f.

You see, the first time you sent me 18a, but it actually contains 13s. I processed the 13s and asked you, “Hey, where’s 18a?” You sent me 18a.

Checked it, randomly scans portions of it, and put it in the proofreader’s pile.

Then you sent 18a again that contains 13s and I got confused. But we got it straightened out now.
