Glossary Work Translated Translater English

As to segments filter, this is how you use it:
Go to View -> Segment Filter -> “Segment attribute filter” tab. Tick “Edited by” checkbox and choose “User” and “Fuzzy match (user)” from the selection list. Click “Apply filter” button. Now Transit will display only the segments translated by translator. Having proofread the file, go to View-> Disable Segment filter.
Please let me know if it works.

Now to glossary, you can use different layout in Transit to view the glossary and see the glossary term in a
separate window.
Under Options > Profile > Settings, Transit Layout tab, option 1 or 2 should show the dictionary window in the bottom left of the layout.

Please try that. I hope it will speed up work.

I am not sure I understand. Do you translate yourself or do you manage a team of translators? Were the samples you submitted translated by you or other translators you represent?
Under which name were the samples submitted? How many samples did you submit for each language pair?
I’m sorry it’s so many questions but that’s what will allow me to check.
Please let me know and I will check.

———————-

I used to translate my self, but now i do manage a team of freelancers translators from all parts of the world, and i’m interested in working with you.
The samples were submitted under my name, and my email: [email protected]
And i took only one sample in English then i translated it into French, German as for your demands, and i just added Spanish in case you need it as well.

I fear they may be some confusion in your hours file (in relation to JD files).
Earlier you reported the following:
6a-d = 10.25h
additional corrections to 6c, 6d = 1.5h
Here you mention 6c twice, with 3.5 and then 5 hours. It is impossible, as you returned me both files 6c and 6d after only few hours after I asked you to fix them.

Please check this issue.

———————-

There is only a formal mistake in my excel file! 6c occurs twice. 3,5 is the time I needed for initial proofreading and 5,0 (is that time plus 1,5h for reproof and fixing)

This formal mistake does not result in wrong hours though. In addition, this excel sheet never served as an official doc but just for my own orientation as we started to use the z_get system.

In this case (6a-d) I added up my hours:
1,5 6a
+ 3,5 6c
+ 2,25 6b
+ 1,5 (reproof)
+ 2,0 (reproof)

and deducted 0,5 h for emailing, glossary update ect which was not part of the reproof

amounting to a total of 10,25 as stated with z_get.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

So I did 178 again. I had obviously omitted that one before, no idea what I sent you as 178 earlier. Sorry!

I hope everything is fine with the other files.

———————-

I have uploaded file 8k and report. Mainly glossary consistency problems with that file. Good file averall apart from one main mistranslation. Took me 1h55.

Carine” Sorry but I have no idea how to fix this problem with 179. Is there a function “insert blank segements” – where? “The untranslated bits in 238, which I just uploaded, are all little squares – probably Chinese characters, so I left them as they were of course.

I tested the name macro on files 1a and 1b, even if these files were already “done”. I think the macro will help tremendously. I think section 4 still needs to be proofed – it was proofed by – so the proofer who will take care of it should have an easy time performing this task.
I am almost done with section 17, so after that, I can take 10f, 10k and 18m – these are the only files not proofed I see. On your accounting sheet, my name appears in the “proof” column for 10k, but I never worked on it.
Since Karel does not want any manual uncapitalization, I should be able to send you section 9 today.
I also noticed that the hour count for section 9 does not appear on the sheet. Are you waiting for me to send the file first?
Please let me know if all this is okay with you.

Please:
1. Do not call a file 03rep unless you are talking about the repetition file. Your post has been edited now.
2. Write a post and break it down to hours per file.

I´ve finished proofing file 02_162-165_DEU_tobe_proofed.PXF and uploaded it.
Please find the report for the file in the reports section.

If you have more work for me, please let me know.

The option to insert segments doesn’t show up until you’re in alignment mode.

Make sure the cursor is at the area you want to align.
Now go to Options -> Alignment -> Start

It will ask you if you want to start at where the cursor is. Say yes. It will go down one segment, check the alignment, give you some probability match that you should ignore, and ask you if you want to delete a segment, which you should say no.

Now, bring the cursor back to the area you want to insert a segment into, right click, and you’ll have the option to Insert Segment. Insert the segment(s). These new segments are blanks. You’ll have to fill it in with whatever info is in the English side. Easiest way is to place the cursor in the blank segment and go to Edit -> Status -> Untranslated.

Transit will always ask if you want to copy the source text when you do this. Say yes, because it will copy the tags and everything.

When you are done, save, translate what needs translating. And repeat.

Starting an alignment mode always cause Transit to lose synchronization between the English half and German half. If you want to restore it, save, close the file (you don’t have to close Transit, just the file), and reload.

I strongly recommend doing all these in with Full Tags and full segment markers displayed.

Ok, I will try.
Uli” when are you going to be done with 05_reps?

“Jean

Could you please paste here the macro? I tried to use it on the same files, but it doesn’t work (says macro error).

File 15c and corresponding report uploaded.
Karen is the translator, she also translated files 8abc. Her style is better than in the previous files but there are a few spelling mistakes, several mistranslations and way too many grammar/conjugation mistakes to be blamed on lack of focus.

I just wanted to let you know that if the next files, 15f and 15i are as poor as this one, it will be very difficult to finish them within 2 hours. This one took me nearly three hours. I will try my best.

I’m working on a big glossary overhaul due to the client’s comments. It will create lots of search and replace work, I’m afraid, but Karel said he will charge the client if anything is delayed because of this. The reps file is again very long with LOTS of glossary work, so I still need until tomorrow at least. I have been quite busy with dealing with client emails the last few days and am also preparing an update to the guidelines. So sorry it takes so long.

Karel has given the go to lightly proof whole files to prevent out-of-context errors similar to what I described previously.

Can you scan through the 203-205 and 210-213 quickly? As I said previously, look for untranslated, partially translated, and out-of-context stuff. If you find any, fix them.

Please write down in a post here how much time was spent on each file and whether there were many such errors (and what kind).

Carine

Keep doing what you are doing, watching the time.
Please, uploading next files, could you add your name to the filename?

” Ok, but when I do this, it does not actually ask if I want to delete anything. ”

You are talking about the name macro, not the capitals macro, right?
here is the macro I used:
=if(VLOOKUP(A7;[ULTIMATE_GLOSSARY.xls]NoDups!A:B;2;FALSE)=B7;”correct”)
“ULTIMATE_GLOSSARY.xls” is the name of the glossary, “NoDups”, the name of the sheet
“A7” and “B7” are the first cells to be taken into account.
I use Excel 2002 in English. If you are using another version or another language, this might not work for you.
Basically,  walked me through the steps, so if this does not work, you might want to ask him, since he created the formula.
I hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for your message. I will scan through the files tonight and will get back to you tonight or tomorrow.

Is it okay for me to go on with 10f, 10k and 18m?

JM

———————-

thank you for explanation of segment filters! It worked well.

I uploaded the proofread files.

And here the time notes:

part 170 translater edited segments: 30 min.
part 170 pretranslated seg.: 30 min.
part 171 translater edited seg.: 25 min.
part 171 pretranslated seg.: 30 min.
part 172 translater edited seg: 22 min
part 172 pretranslated seg: 23 min.
part 173 translater edited seg: 8 min.
part 173 pretranslated seg: 23 min

The accuracy of the pretranslated segments was very good.
But in each file there were more pretranslated segments than translater edited segments, so that it took longer to proofread those.
