Glossary Proofread Consistency German

I’ve just uploaded the files to JD_repair.

Files 3d, 14s, 11m the worst ones.
Files 8j, 9t, 12p, 13a, 15d, 16g, 18q, 19b less problematic

It took me 4 hours to proofread the files.

———————-

I thought 3d should be okay.
Please check files 3a, 14q, 18m, 9c, 9f, 9j, 19b, 19f
Main thing to check – consistency with the glossary.

Please confirm.

We may need some help. I am working on finalizing the German part, and will try to send you instructions later.

———————-

have to leave for some hours, so if someone else can take these files I would appreciate it.

1 issue in file 5c:
Leo Gift Pack (Unique)->Leo Geschenk-Paket (Einzelexemplar)
But – it is more then 31 characters and “unique” in glossary is “Einzigartig”.
Can you please resolve this?

———————-

yes I’ll correct this.

———————-

I proofed files by

_K, and the quality is very encouraging. You might want to contact her to help proofread. If she is willing to, she could write down her changes and I would check into them to make sure she is heading the right way.

Hmm, you have a point there, .

I’m hoping that updates will become less frequent, but I’ll start separating the Add_New from the glossary tomorrow.

Just uploaded 5c last corrections

———————-

when do you expect to be back?

———————-

I have uploaded file 1d with track changes: (some of the translation was poor but not all)
French_JD_100201_Localize_1d_Catherine.xls

I don’t think I can do more than 2a and 2b today and tomorrow.

I have other commitments unfortunately on Friday and at the week-end until Monday evening. I can resume working on the files on Tuesday.

I hope it;s ok? It’s just that it takes me half a day to finalise properly each and every of these repetitions files!

Thank you for agreeing to help.
I would like to assign you few files.

Please check files 3a, 14q, 18m, 9c, 9f, 9j, 19b, 19f

Main thing to check – consistency with the glossary. If there are any other significant issues – please correct as well, but really main point is that we use same item names etc in all files.

3a is supposed to be good, but recently I found it may have issues as well.

the most recent glossary: http://translationstop.com/files/FTP/GERMAN_MAIN__2504.xls

The Excel files are found here; http://translationstop.com/files/German-JD/German.zip

Additionally, I am attaching an already proofread file 3c. The proofreader missed one issue – in some terms, the word “recipe” is translated as “Rezeptur” and in other “Rezept”, when the first one should be the correct one and the one to be used according to glossary. Please go over this file and correct this issue.

Please confirm.

I looked over the files and I found that just the file 3a is about 5300 words to check and would took hours to check in Excel. All files together would be work for many hours.
In Excel I have to switch between the file and the glossary and I would have to use the search function to check consistency.
Even in Transit with the dictionary within this would be too much words to proof in a few hours.
My time is GMT+2 (6:30pm now) and I could start with it but as you say you will deliver today, I don´t think this works in time.

Please let me know if you still want me to start with it.

Best Heiko

I reassigned the files.

Hi

I will upload my updated 03_203-5 and 03_210-13 in a minute, proofread and checked against the June 9th Glossary.

I noticed the hyphens were not °°° in the current glossary — I suggest an updated glossary with °°°, otherwise we risk disappearing dashes when terms are auto translated (or has this been solved?)

As always, there is a short list of comments attached. This is only about typos and duplicates, so I don’t expect it will be neccessary to update my files after this.

My updated minutes (total) for all the files:

03_203: 180
03_204: 240
03_205: 80

03_210: 45
03_211: 75
03_212: 75
03_213: 75

And ready for more 🙂

” Good point. I saw that, but somehow forgot to replace them. I’m replacing it right now.

I have uploaded file 8d and report, which is not very long since there is not much to say about the quality of the work. It is good and it took me 1h30 to get through it.

File 8d was way better than files 8abc, which were not only full of grammar and conjugation mistakes (when there’s so many, it can’t be typos) but also written in a way that doesn’t sound natural in French at all. The sentences make sense and I corrected the mistakes but it would have been possible to spend hours on those files to improve the style.

Also, I just read Karel’s email and I was wondering if you want me to stop correcting the capitalisation mistakes (he says the issue is likely to be corrected thanks to a macro) in order to focus just on the consistency with the glossary and the general meaning of the sentences.

Hm… I see. 3a is supposed to be not bad.

Let’s do like this:
1st: Please make the corrections to file 3c which I attached in the message and upload it back here so that I could finalize it.
2nd: please scroll down file 3a, and try to spot inconsistencies. Not a precise proofreading, but attempt to figure out if this file is ok or not. If something is wrong – to correct, if looks alright – so it’s alright. Let’s say give this file 1 hour for evaluation, then let me know what is the condition of the file.

Do you think it’s doable?

———————-

Sorry I was not replying – we are trying to agree what do we have time for, and what don’t. I will get back to you soon, please check your e-mail from time to time.

———————-

Ok, correcting just a single term in 3c should be no problem.

Then I´ll start with 3a and I´ll just look over it. If I see a *suspicious* term I´ll have a closer look but overall I just scroll down and look over it.

After one hour checking file 3a I´ll let you know about the issues.

Heiko

———————-

Okay, then I am waiting for 3c and your report.

———————-

How is your progress? We decided to finish proofreading soon, so that we will not need to vet in the last moment. Please upload what you had already proofread, and I guess it will be enough.
Just tell me what are you uploading that I will know what to look for.

———————-

I´ve checked 3c (10 min) and attached it here.
After 1 hour on 3a I´ve overlooked and edited 2000 out of 2500 segments. Following problems found so far:
few grammar
few typos
some capitalization
few untranslated
some terminology (each term had several entries to edit)

So I think I should finish 3c now (?).
Tonight I could overlook another smaller file (i.e. 9j) after 3c, too. if you want me to.

Please note that I can go on tomorrow with the other files but I´m not available from Friday to Sunday due to private duties.

Please let me know if and how to continue.

Heiko

Heiko

file received. Yes, please finish the 3a. There will be no need to proofread files, but there may be additional issues to resolve.
Do you have the macros for 31 char abbreviation for the 3a?
