Glossary German Proofreading Translated

I am still waiting for 179. Did you get the missing segments restored?
I hope you did not stop when it didn’t ask you to delete a segment. Transit’s recommendation varies depending on its calculation but is almost always not what you want to do anyway.

As for word count, substracting the untranslated Chinese words:
282
1,070
460
385
122

Ok, thanks.
I did actually stop the process. I will try again then.

I’m afraid we can’t edit the
XXX-Métal
YYY.Métal
ZZZ·Métal
AAA : Métal
Because once in the files it appears like this and once like that. It only reflects how is the English version.

I checked twice and it seems that all files had been assigned. May-be while we wait for the cleaned file you could skim over files proofread by the weaker proofreaders and translated by weaker translators?

And one last question – do you thin files 7def, which contain also item lists but were proofread by Carine and or files 1c-2b by Catherine should enter the large file we are creating and be checked again?

, please work on the 05_reps_DEU from segment 1640 to 4300.

Like other reps work, use the dictionary (09 June) and accept all terms.

http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/German/05_reps_seg1639_DEU.PXF

As before, there’s no actual untranslated word count. Formula count is 2135 untranslated words (estimated).

Please confirm and let us know how long it will take you to finish this.

Thank you for letting me know about harmonzation. It will be longer that way, but it’s okay.

I still have to finish file 18l, it takes a long time because I have to check tag positions. SO I cannot check “weaker files” right now. I know there is another spell file in this list (section 18), and these are more complicated. If Alexandre is done with section 16, maybe he could take care of it while I check item files.

If sections 1, 2, 7 contain item list, please include them in the file. It will be quicker for me to do everything at once rather than 2 or three times.

thanks for the file. I will deliver this file (segment 1640 to 4300)tomorrow in the afternoon. So you could prepare the next file for me for tomorrow afternoon if you already have new files available.

once you’re done with the current batch, here is the next batch of file to proofread.

Hi

Thanks for the files, I’ll get them done as soon as possible.

I just received an email from Karel though who is concerned about meeting the new deadline which I don’t understand as I have written several times to let your company know that I’m fully available and could translate about 3000 words a day. I have set my status according to instructions, etc.

Please advice.

Hi

Thank you for the new files. I will try to get them done by tomorrow evening.

I just uploaded 203-5 and 210-13 again.

As requested, they have been scanned for out of context and untranslated pretranslations, but not thoroughly checked for consistency against the new dictionary. However, I stumbled across some glossary terms that I remembered were changed, so I fixed those (only a few per file, but sometimes many instances of the same term, with find & replace).

Here is my report per file:

203: 0,5 hours: 1 untranslated string: “translated String” — likely untranslated before because technical — fixed. Discovered some terminology inconsistencies which I also fixed. No other out of context/untranslated parts.

204: 0.5 hours: a few minor things fixed (typos/consistency). No out of context/untranslated parts.
205: 0.5 hours: like above
210: 0.5 hours: like above
211: 0.5 hours: like above
212: 0.5 hours: like above
213: 0.5 hours: like above

Please note that you didn’t yet include my reproofing hours of 203-5, which I reported earlier, in the spreadsheet. The hourly totals of these files should be as follows, *before* applying the 0.5 hours of today:

203: 3 hours
204: 3.75 hours
205: 1.25 hours

Is it
that I am writing to now? Karel wrote something to this effect.

I am definitely up for taking new files. In order to tell how long it will take to translate them – and for my own record – I will need the respective word count in advance.

I will also try to do the corrections that (?) asked me to perform on one of the last files.

I´ve finished proofing file 04_238-39_241-43_DEU_tobe_proofed.PXF and uploaded it. I´ve also uploaded a report in the report folder.

I confirm translation of file 05_reps_seg1639_DEU.PXF from segment 4300 to end. I think I´ll get it done till tomorrow late afternoon.

did my suggestion helped you to fix your problem ?
I am in the starting blocks to make proofreading, I still don’t have files assigned, i hope I can help a bit until friday.

.

———————-

No, didn’t help. Either me or my excel are lacking something.

As to files – we are forced to wait, I am sorry about that. I guess you noticed, that the formula works only if the glossary term is alone in the cell, without any gender signs and other things, like (LV80) etc. so now we have a PM preparing one merged file clean of these things. You will be assigned part of it, and will use it to make corrections to the normal files. I will ask the PM how long it will take and get back to you.

” The email Karel sent is a mass-email going to everyone. Even people who has made their availability clear. So don’t worry about it.

“Ulrich, if you still can’t figure out how to fix the segmentation error, just unzip the PXF you downloaded, find the .DEU/.GER for 179, and copy it to your folder, overwriting your copy.

This deletes your translation and replaces it with an untranslated version. However, there’s only a few untranslated words to begin with and it isn’t a lot of work redoing them.

———————-

I will upload it for the proofreaders.
When do you think you will finish your files?

———————-

Karel asked me to send you instructions on how translation of the Reps file (05). I think that translators (are you farming out to more than one?) should pay attention to what I’ve done so far in the file and try and stay close to that style, grammar and glossary terms. I’m wondering if I should update the glossary now and send it to you so translators have it for reps 5, but Karel said it would be best between sections. So I wonder if we should do before or after reps05 is translated.” Send it now so it can be used to translate reps 05, please.

“Tonight during the night or tomorrow morning probably. Basically, I will keep working until I have finished them all.

I will waste quite some time on 16i, Dario didn’t refer to the glossary or insert terms, he basically translated all the skill names in his own way (this concerns about 140 rows of the total file) so I had/have to fix them all, it’s very tedious.

The other remaining files should be allright from what I have seen.

I will get back to the proofreading and will let you know when the upload is complete.

Alexandre

, I made a slight error. You should translated from 4301 to the end, not 4300. Hope it’s not too late.

suggests that you read his translation so far (seg 1-1639) and try to use the same style and wording. That way the file and the section as a whole will have a consistent feel.

He also says he’s putting up a new glossary.

I suggest you wait a bit until the new glossary is up. It’s a lot easier to start fresh with a new glossary rather than having to go back and change things.
