please find attached the spellchecked files.

Files received, work is done. Thank you for your effort last night, I know it wasn’t easy.

———————-

Thank you for the excellent work you did, it was a great help. Can you please let me know how many hours did you spend on them?

I spent 3 hours on this spellchecking work.

Tefack, are you available for a boring tedious job?

During vetting we discovered that a translator has completely ignored the coding/formatting tags. This means that the entire translations need to be retranscribed, with the correct words put within the correct tags. You don’t have to translate, since all the translation are there. But carefully putting the tags to the words are pretty tedious work and likely long.

I’m not sure what you want to do though.

Do you want an entirely untranslated file? As in, all English? I can give you that, but be careful because as far as I know, fuzzy match does not 1. Transfer hyphens properly and 2. Give you the same translation (it actually remembers several various versions).

It can get very slow when it encounters repetitions.

It maybe faster to use Search & Replace for repeated words.

Karel sent me the project Reps 1-5 to proofread, these are the original files which we started the project with. It is all in English, in order to insert the dictionary terms smoothly, which I have done. Then I have to use the previous translation as a translation memory to insert it back quickly.

I have inserted all dictionary terms, and now I need to reinsert the translation of sentences and then proofread, using it like a translation memory. So what I need is the translated file for this project Reps 1-to-5, and I don’t have it. Can you please look for it. I suspect that what happens is that Karel sent me the original file before it was translated, and I need the one that WAS translated to use as Ref, and update. I hope there is such a file somewhere, as maybe he has merged several files together.

To be more precise, I told Karel that I have currently:
from the project Reps 1-5 as per the instructions, in that
> folder, there is:
>
> _EXTR_.ENU
> _EXTR_.FRA
> TRAN2ENU.BAS
> TRAN2ENU.MTX
> TRAN2FRA.BAS
>

The situation is really stressful as Karel seems to think I am not following the instructions, and he referred to two things, especially a file (txf changd2zip) which he didn’t send me, I have looked through my emails, and it is not in my folder on the FTP server, so I am really confused now and a bit tired of all this to be honest. I hope this will be resolved soon.

here is our correspondence:
did u chek my previous emails. i realy canot repeat lengthy details on my mobil. ask too. copy the enu&fra to a subfoldr&use as referenc

Catherine” Okay, I understand now what you are trying to do. Give me 5 minutes. I don’t actually have those files, but if I recall correctly it should be in the FTP server somewhere.

This should be the file you’re looking for.

Make sure to back up your .FRA files first. Then create another folder and unzip that PXF in that folder.

Do the Reference Material one at a time. When you do that Fuzzy matching thing, Transit creates a database of crosslinks, and the small the number of reference material, the faster your fuzzy match will go.

Then go to Project Settings, go to Pre-Translation, and turn off Create Reference Material. You can leave Create statistics on if you want. It doesn’t affect the speed and it does let it remember which translation among many you chose and proposes it as the translation the next time it repeats.

Then go to Options -> Profile Settings. Go to Concordance and set it to search Reference Material only.

You can also play around with the Fuzzy Index settings in the Profile Settings. Be careful with what you do about variants. I generally turn on “No automatic replacements if variants exist” and manually select a translation. You’d think that if there’s only one translated reference material there’s only one translation for each English segments, but nope. Somehow Transit stores alternates in the actual .FRA file and tries to offer it whenever you do that Alt-Enter thing.

the file you referred to is the file I finalised yesterday, but it helped a bit.

Helo

I havent heard a word from you for a few days, is something wrong?

———————-

There was lots of work these days, and I was waiting for you to let me know you are available! What a pity, we could use one more pair of hands.

Please, write me a message when you are online and available to work. These days all files had been urgent, so I couldn’t just post them to your ticket and hope you will see them int timely manner.

———————-

All right, tomorrow I’ll tell you when I can start. And also one little question, It s interesting when I’m ging to be paid, my credit card will be ready on Friday, but money can be sent to my account before.

———————-

I haven’t heard from you and was wondering what has happened so far?

———————-

Dalmar

We are finishing now the previous project and commencing a new one on Monday. I will check with Karel if we require more German translators (I assume that yes) and will let you know how to proceed.

———————-

I got an e-mail from Karel saying you still needed help until friday.
I’m available to work on some files (but rather untill thursday because I leave for the week-end on friday and still need to prepare some stuff) so you can assign me some.
I understood it was to verify proper names right?

” To avoid any confusion, this is for Eng > Fr files ”

Karel asked me to contact you here in order to be assigned a file for proofreading (French). I’ll be available most of today, so if you have anything for me, just drop me a note.

.

———————-

You are in the wrong category. Please repost your message to Z_Get category ASAP to receive files.

———————-

I received word from Karel that updating & checking needed to be done on previous files.
I took a look at them and tried out the instructions, seems pretty much straightforward.

If ever you need my help, feel free to ask.

Kind Colmant

Okay. Please start with 1d.
Go to the Proofreading site ( http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/1-5_French/ ) and download the three files there.

Username and password are the same. 001

Read the Instructions.doc very very carefully. Then follow it. These files are important ones. It will get seen by thousands of people every day. Pay attention and preserve the tags. If necessary use View -> Hide/Display Tags -> Display Full Tags.

Once you are done, upload the file to the server.

DO NOT SEND IT BY EMAIL!

Let me know how long it took you to do that file and tell me if you want another. Keep a log of your hours separately for Karel later. I need to know your speed so I can figure out how many files I can safely hand you next time, but I do not keep a log of one’s hours.
