French Proofread Vetting Instructions

assignment has been received. I ll start them immediately

” No comparing proofreading to unproofread for them, right? ”
D

You are assigned French files
JD_100201_Localize_10c
JD_100201_Localize_10d
Located on the Proofread->French folder.

Please watch for French punctuation (space before !?:;), number format (NOT 2,500, but 2 500 or 2500) etc.

I am working late today, so you can ask me here if you may have any questions. These files do not have “translated” folder, they are all proofread, so no need to compare them.
I need to have the files back ASAP, and more files can come.

Please confirm receipt.

———————-

You are assigned a file for vetting.

JD_100201_Localize_12d

Go to http://translationstop.com/files_PM/ or connect to FTP server.
Download “Originals.rar”. Then go to folder Proofread ->French, and download the file JD_100201_12a-d_14c_FRA.zip. Unzip it. Please do not work on any other file then the one you are assigned above.
Usually the zip file contains two folders, “Proofread” and “translated” (or “unproofread”). If so, once you have the files, please – first thing you do – rename the PROOFREAD file, adding German_ before the file name.
Now – following instructions – compare the files and produce the report table.
If the zip file you downloaded contains only one folder – no need to compare proofread and unproofread files, go straight to vetting.
Then open the PROOFREAD file again in Excel, paste in the English and start vetting. First Ctrl+F for special characters: +; ~55~, replace any hyphen substitutes (“.hhh.”, “^^^”, or “°°°“ ) with hyphen (-) etc according to instructions.
Then go over the file carefully looking for missing spaces between sentences, missing periods or periods which are not in the source etc. It should not take too long time to do it. Comment EACH change you make or issue you spot in the third column and mark the comment cell red. Additionally add the comment to the vetting issues table. I know it slows you down, but this is how I can be sure you are doing everything right.

Please watch for French punctuation (space before !?:;), number format (NOT 2,500, but 2 500 or 2500) etc. Read again the link to French punctuation on the “useful links” page.

Do not change ANYTHING in English. Except of the ~55~, which need to be changed to & in both columns. Do not add spaces around the ~55~.

When finished – change the file name according to instructions and upload it to folder Proofread ->French-> Vetted, and send me report (comparing report+vetting issues report) as ticket here.

Any questions – ask here. Please take in mind that I live at GMT+6, therefore questions asked after 4pm in your time zone will be answered the next day.

Please confirm receipt.

———————-

Nope. We are in a hurry, so when you download them and you see two folders – proofread and translated – compare. Otherwise just go straight to vetting.

———————-

I downloaded the file.

———————-

No problem, just confirm that you saw my message as soon as you see it. Alright? Like this I know you got it.

Here are more German files:
JD_100201_Localize_7d
JD_100201_Localize_12d

You’ll need to download files JD_100201_11abde_12d_DEU.zip and German.7bcd.Sophie.Proofed.rar for that.

These files do not need to be compared. If you download a compressed file and see there only one folder, you can start vetting straight ahead.

Please confirm.

I know you are really trying, and this is why I comment and explain and will keep commenting and explaining.

Until Monday we will have a total rush.

Here come your first files – French:
JD_100201_Localize_13h
JD_100201_Localize_13i
JD_100201_Localize_13m

Please note, these are French files, therefore – watch for French punctuation rules (space before ?!:;) and number formats. Read again French punctuation guidelines if you are not sure (link in “useful links” page).
Also try not to miss strange hyphens, +marks, ~55~ (Ctrl+F for them!) and just follow the instructions.
I am working late today, so you can ask me questions.

Please confirm receipt.

No problem. I wont sleep at night 🙂 Any deadline?

———————-

I wanted to ask you . If I see difference with punctuation marks, but obvious like
“”
and
“Merci ! ”
Can I correct them my self, or just to leave it without marking for proofreader?

———————-

I have already connected to your FTP server successfully and I have read all the information you had sent me. I think I am ready to start. Will you send me some test files?
As to the payment. I am not familiar with LiqPay. However, as far as I can judge according to all the information I have read about it – it is acceptable for me.

Sincerely yours

Files received.
I see that in 11m the issues had not been deleted, in line 87 there is still a double hyphen, and “Cite de Sunstream” had not been changed to “Sunstream”. Can you please check this file again?

———————-

I finished with file. There are some comments where I pointed “not corrected”. It means that I think them OK. Only one place gives rise a doubt.

As I said, I am waiting for files on weekend.

Am I on traning still? If yes, how do you think if ready for job? I will be appreciate to see your changes in my files for my best learning.

I take this files in work:

When replacing “.hhh.”, “^^^”, or “°°°“ ) with hyphen, no spaces should be added around the hyphen (word-word).

Today I’m working late and will be available one more hour.

What is your availability tomorrow and on Sunday?

Please confirm receipt.

———————-

I actually suggest to sleep at night, because this circus will continue until Monday.

As to the second question – not important. You see it doesn’t change the meaning – leave it. This time it’s the speed that matters.
