Yes, with the not so recent financial crisis and an even bigger one that is on its way, many people are suffering and struggling to make ends meet. In fact, this has been throughout the ages. There are so many of us and the greedy power elite want more for themselves. Sometimes I look at the case of the two farmers – one growing a crop requiring less rain while his neighbour farmer grows a crop requiring more rain. How can God satisfy both their prayers? I believe it is best to seek a spiritual union with God and not always depend on him to handle your financial affairs. You must be shrewd, hardworking, and use your best skills to advance yourself. God has saved me from calamity many times in the past, but it is up to me, at the end of the day, to make better of my life. While spending the time to seek spiritual matters. God can give guidance too, so pray often and open your mind, for it may come from a direction you do not expect. But when new ideas do come to you make sure to think things through very carefully and do not automatically assume that they came from God, lest you may be taken advantage by the dishonest, who seek to better themselves and who do not have a conscience.
If you want to provide better for your son, make sure he is nourished with sound upbringing, to give him the character of a rock and something he can build on, himself. Providing him with things is less important than that.
