Country Representative Job Position
As part of our new expansion, we would like to have at least one representative for each
country, as a sort of affiliate branch of our global website. This
concept is in its early stages and still being developed. There are several aspects to
this position:
- We would like to have a web presence in each country. This will require you posting a
functioning postal address and telephone contact information. All email communication will
go to our central project management team, but if someone contacts you directly by phone
or post, you can consider them your customer. We would also like to post your CV, some
general information about you, and about your country to make the country page more
interesting. A translation of the website into your native language would be welcome. Here
are some samples we have set up in London and Kiel,
although without a local representative. We can prepare the text for the page ourselves,
and all we would need from you is a functioning postal address, telephone number, and
preferably information about yourself.
- Help us find translators in your country. Eventually, we would like to set aside a
particular budget to help us find more translators, focusing mostly on languages we need
more translators in. If you know of any good websites or places in your country where we
can post ads looking for more translators, please propose it to us so that we can discuss
the issue further.
- If you are acting as a translation agency in your country or would like to, we can work
out some partnership. Or help you with this. We charge a low flat markup rate on top of
whatever the translator charges, and have a large database of translators located all over
the world, but we can consider dropping the markup rate further if you are approached by
customers in your country and you need help with some projects (you would charge a markup
on top of our rate). We can also send you work as well, but for this you would need to go
through our usual assessment process, which is not necessarily influenced by the fact that
you are acting as a country representative for us. Generally we like to have direct
contact with our translators, because this way we know exactly who we are assigning work
to, and there is no additional markup on the translator's work, which would force us to
increase our final price offer to the customer and make us less competitive. But in
general we can work out some cooperation in translation projects, which would depend on
the isolated case and require further dialogue.
- We can have several representatives in each country, like several branch offices in a
single city or several cities, as increased web presence is good. But we would add
additional country representatives only after consultation with the existing country
representatives(s).
In short, this is not some paid position but an opportunity to pool our resources and
work together in some manner. You can have your own webpage offering your services as a
translation agency, linking to our representative page in your country and referring to us
as your global partner for when you are approached with larger multi-language projects you
need help with. And we can do the same for you. Our partnership would make us both
stronger, and pooling our resources would benefit both of us.
If you would be interested in becoming our regional partner, please send us an email with your
proposition.
