Hey dude, know we’ve discussed this a lot, but I have a new take on this that might sink in. After reading the Zeitgeist article I sent you, there was one part they covered about the underlying principle of all world religions, which is basically to do unto others as you expect them to do unto you. And working towards a modest life, treating others with respect, love and so on (not mentioned in the article but that is what they mostly aim for).<\/p>\n
Then I read another, unrelated article a few days before, titled “The Secret History of Rock and Roll”, where it talks about all these doped-out musicians reaching into the mystic past, reading a lot, and channeling all sorts of thoughts without necessarily knowing what they are doing. The article mentions how Jesus was doing roughly the same but that much of his message was watered down by the authorities. So I believe your aggression against him and everything related is misguided. It’s like Hitler taking the Swastika, which has been an image of love for thousands of years, and hijacking it and turning into something to represent evil. Now everyone believes that, but that is not its roots. One thing that God says frequently in the Bible is that he hates it when someone misrepresents him and abuses his Name. From what I overheard from the first Zeitgeist movie it seems evident that the authorities have highjacked the message to protect their agenda. But even so I’ve read between the lines and can say that it has positively affected my life. You don’t know what I was like before you met me. Most Christians are good people, many are fakes and just follow this or that for their own personal gain. If you judge the fakes and the power elite (or corrupt and perverse priests) who have abused this message, you shouldn’t extend that judgement against the original message. As far as I’m concerned you’re only hurting yourself. You may be forgiven for your ignorance but you are still hurting yourself by being so angry against the message of love and forgiveness, which is what it is all about. You smugly went on about your argument against the 40 days of Noah’s flooding, even after I told you countless times that the bible is purposefully written in code, “To appear like foolishness in the eyes of those who are [spiritually] perishing.”<\/p>\n
Anyway, glad to be back inThailandand live amongst people who have a good heart and worship one form of deity or another, as opposed to most of the rest of the world who are concerned a lot about themselves and where it feels like a darker place. One may call it “ignorance is bliss”, but I know both sides of the fence and my spiritual experiences have convinced me of what to hold onto. The rest are just empty arguments that don’t really lead anywhere, except perhaps the arguer’s sense of satisfaction that they are in control of their lives. When I was a devout atheist that was my argument as well, and I had many against the belief, but in hindsight those were empty times which I would never want to return to. It is the Spirit that I hold onto (although I admit I could be a lot more spiritual), not some ignorant notion that I grasp onto out of desperation from an empty life. By logic alone (from my readings of the bible) I decided to give the Spirit a chance. “God loved us first.” After tasting that, a REAL and perpetual experience, I abandoned my atheistic convictions and have held onto that ever since.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I guess I see where you’re coming from, after reading how this has been abused over history, or bullshitted by others, but that is not what it’s about.
