Glossary Segments Dictionary Translated

What is your question? Your post consists of statements but has no actual question.

I am going to make a guess to what you are asking and answer it.

No, there is no problem with the glossary. Double quotation marks are ”. This is to be avoided because the client has trouble with it in quest text. A single quotation mark is ’. There’s no problem with that one.

You’re worrying over nothing.

Yes, I am working on it. Thank you for the glossary notification!

” Jan, it’s Wednesday evening now. How’s progress on your assigned files?

“I delivered a couple of hours ago.

Feel free to assign me new files, but give me some time with them.

———————-

attached are my glossary comments/questions from proofreading the latest batch. Can you forward them to  and ask for feedback? Then I can finish the files with his comments.

Also

1. some files contain chinese characters – just ignore them, as before?

2. 189 contains sex-symbols (tag protected) – replace them with M and W (german for male and female), or leave them alone?

3. 189 contains segments with letters “B” and “O” without any context, and the words “Immortals” and “Battle” (in this order; the two words are translated, but I noticed “Battle of the Immortals” is left in English in the current glossary). Do you want me to do anything about those?

While I am waiting for feedback, I could already start proofing or translating a new file.

———————-

I’ve uploaded 15o and report. 2h20. I guess this was Alex’s (as in Alexandre-main proofreader) work since both style and translation were high quality. Very few changes there, apart from the consistency issues and typos.

Any more files do you want me to work on?

Carine

Carine

Yes, there are more files to work on.

1st: please take 12o. It had not been proofread yet.
Please tell me if I can assign you one more file.

———————-

I assigned 15o to Carine (already delivered). Are there other files to be reproofread? Perhaps other files of Tefack? May-be 15n? 18l appears proofread twice for some reason, once by you, once by her. Did you proofread 18l?

One more question. In file 18m there is a difference in translations of:
^11aaffCosts %d Spirit
French:
^11aaffCoûte %d d’esprit
or
^11aaffCoûte %d Esprit
Alexandre in other sec. 18 files used translation:
^11aaffCoûte %d PE

Which is correct? We need some consistency with that. If you decide, it could be changed in all files form sec. 18.

———————-

Confirming 12o.
You can assign me more files, I would be happy to work on them but I will only be able to deliver them tomorrow.

Carine

———————-

1. Ignore the Chinese characters.
2. Ignore the gender symbols. This will be taken care at the vetting stage, just like the hyphen and the ampersand.
3. Battle of Immortals is being left in English. Same with the letters.

Will forward your stuff to .

” Sebastian asked me to forward the attached comment file to you. He’s waiting for your response.

“Carine

Thank you for confirming. File 12n is also yours. Please try to deliver it in the morning European time, as we still need to vet it and so forth.

I am finishing for today. Please keep me updated of the progress.

———————-

I already proofed 15n last night while I was waiting for the item file. I already uploaded it.
If you have idle proofreaders, they can check Sylvia’s files.
I did proofread 18l. Section 18 is complicated to proof because of tags, so I am not sure a “rookie” proofer would have been assigned any of these files.

Regarding consistency, I think it is safer to go with Alexandre’s suggestion since he is the leading translator for French.

Let me know if you have questions.

I have to say that I won´t get this file finished today. It seems that this is far more than 2290 words because this is already alone 1820 segments with more than just one or two words. MS Word says somewhat far over 10K for my segments.

I can´t really tell you a time for completing but I´m on it and I´ll do my best.

” , did you remember when you translated the other reps file? You’re supposed to use the dictionary and use “Accept All Terms” to get many of the terms translated.

“, yes I did. But after re-checking the wordcount in MS Word it´s over 14k (without chinese signs or numbers).
Even with the term insertion it´s far more work as told and expected. How much terms you expect to be inserted (not completely translated, no conjugations) from the term insertion function?
Furthermore I had to change the tagged hyphens which came from the new glossary (hyphens instead of °°°).
Shame on Transit that it can´t count that file.

As mentioned yesterday, I´m working on it.

I noticed that segments 1640 to 4300 is a lot more work than I expected, it can’t be only about 2200 words, it must be much more. So I’m now working at segment 3000 and can do up to 3500 today, so please if there is someone who can take segments 3501 to 4300, I would appreciate it, just to accelerate these basic translations a bit.

———————-

Can you please update me on the progress with sections 1-7?
Any of the files are ready by now?

Excerpt from Karel’s email:

since they will cover about half the project, but one thing I was discussing with  which is very important, is that they should NOT translate nonsensical passages or parts of
sentences. The way the segmentation is set up and with all the software code, the sentences are often broken up, and I found on JD that the TM can often be totally useless for those parts. So they should skip over those dissected sentence parts if they do not make sense.

, it’s possible that the formula needs adjustment. Talk to Karel about it though, since I don’t have the authority nor the expertise to adjust that.

I’ll see if I can find someone to cover 3500 to 4300.

It has come to my attention that ‘s glossary has been using hyphens instead of the degree signs.

A new version of the glossary is up. It’s exactly the same as before, but the hyphens have been changed to the degree signs. There is no other change.

,  is asking for some help in translating a file. This is the 05_reps file.

http://translationstop.com/files/BOI/German/05_reps_seg1639_DEU.PXF

Please translate segment 3501 to 4300. That’s Segment 3501 to 4300

Glossary/dictionary can be found below:
http://translationstop.com/files/Glossary/Glossary_DEU_15Jun.PXF

Being a reps file, you need to follow these steps:
1. Download the glossary/dictionary.
2. Go to Setting and attach the dictionary to the project.
3. Go to Edit and Insert all terms from the dictionary.
4. Go to segment 3501 and start translating whatever the dictionary hasn’t translated up to segment 4300.

Sometimes a segment contains only partial sentences that doesn’t make sense due to lack of context. If you can’t figure out what something means, do not translate it. Leave it alone.

Last, given that the dictionary has partially translated them, there’s no accurate way of figuring the word count. Karel uses a formula that gives out 832 untranslated words equivalent for those 800 segments. This doesn’t mean there are 832 untranslated words. It means that those 800 segments are considered worth 832 words.

Please confirm and try to get it finished within a day.

I have uploaded file 12o and report.
There were a lot of terms to be checked in the glossary. That’s why it took me 3h. The overall level was good, apart from hyphens and spaces missing, and several parts of segments left untranslated. I also found a difference in tags between English and French, and I don’t know if that’s normal. I highlighted it in the report, it’s rows 190 and 229.

I will start working on file 12n now unless you tell not to.

Carine

Please go ahead and proofread the file. Please let me know when you’re done.

———————-

Carine

the issue with the tags was from bad vetting. No proofreading issue, thanks for letting me know.

———————-

I checked 28000+ rows so far.
I am going to upload the file so that you can use it if you need.
It seems that a file end on row 27459.
What is the deadline for this file?

JM

———————-

I just wanted to let you know that I will have finished my file by Saturday.

It has taken a little longer with this file as I have been very busy this week.
