Terms Work Characters Proofread

ah, sure. I do that with the 3a file before re-sending it.
I haven´t applied it on the 3c file – should I also apply it on 3c send it together with the 3a?

———————-

no need to abbreviate 3c – I checked it myself. 3a – please abbreviate.
I’m attaching the macro file again. this time I added a macro in a blue cell. this macro reads number of characters in the cell to it’s left. Just run the Xtrl+Q macro, and then paste the “blue” macro on the right of the yellow cells. Now when you make changes, it will show how many characters are in the cell after each change. Speeds things up.

Please delete the yellow and blue background and the numbers of the blue macro from the file before you send it.

, I just realized that the new (June09) glossary has hyphens instead of °°°. I submitted to you a version with hyphens, so sorry about that, I assumed (on no particular basis) that you would insert those. Also, I’m working on a version which has the changes relative to June8 and June7 marked down, hope to get it to you tonight or tomorrow morning.

———————-

I am urgent;y waiting for a reply for you. Any files which we will not receive by deadline will not be included in the sending package and it will be work for nothing.

I also have issues with files from section 6 which you proofread.

Please let me know if you have completed any of the files I assigned earlier and if you can correct some things in section 6.

———————-

I´ve attached the checked file 3a and also abbreviated few terms. There still may be some inconsistencies but I think I´ve sorted out most issues. All in all it took me 80 minutes for 3a.

If you have more files for tomorrow please let me know.

———————-

I don’t have files for proofreading, but on the file I attach the abbreviation was not done properly and many terms are longer then 31 char. Can you please abbreviate them?

———————-

This was done quickly. There were just 6 or 7 segments to abbreviate – the rest are sentences. Nothing to charge for 🙂

btw, the wordcount function with blue cells doesn´t work for me. Maybe I have to deactivate the old 31-macro somehow …

———————-

I am finishing for today, but it is possible that Karel will ask you to proofread/correct something.

———————-

I proofread 8a and 8b and have just returned to my office. I can work the next couple of hours if necessary.

” Please find attached files 8a and 8b. “Got them! Please communicate directly with Karel if he needs something.

Hi

Idle at the moment, and would be happy to translate or proofread more. In case nothing is available right now, can you give me an estimate on when to expect more?

———————-

Good morning !

This project just seems to never end 🙂
Therefore I have some fixing work for you.

Remember files 6a-c you proofread? I vetted them yesterday, and found quite lot of issues which require your attention.
I am going over again now. When you get online, please let me know ASAP as we have just few time to fix the files.

———————-

Are you available today? We have some files form tomorrow which were found problematic in vetting (not your files). You have more experience with this project then other translators, and I hope we could get your help for today. We have some hours until early evening to repair.

Please let me know ASAP as you get online.

———————-

How is your availability this morning? We got some time till afternoon to polish the files. If you have time, I would like you to give an additional look to file 3a you were working on yesterday.
While vetting (I also hadn’t really time to vet it properly) I spotted: in the file the translation used for recipe is Rezept. It needs to be changed to Rezeptur. And abbreviated in some terms, because Rezeptur is longer. Second – I saw some old terms…

Please let me know if you will have time.

———————-

I´m available today.
Should I take that file 3a I´ve sent you last night for further editing?

” I’m online! “Please send the files for reproof.

———————-

Please send the files for reproof.

———————-

I am attaching the first file I worked on. I replaced quite lot of terms (were not consistent with glossary). I suppose if you will check after me, you may find even more.

Recipe shoudl be translated Rezeptur, not Rezept. If it’s long – please abbreviate to Rez.

Other issue was that sometimes translations were confused – for example there is a list:
Dragon Fly Shoes
Dragon Fly Suit
Dragon Fly Hat

And in translation where should be hat are shoes or twice shoes, or in one of them Dragon Fly is translated somehow differently. Please go over and try to spot that.

Abbreviations: sometimes in a coupled terms like:
Dragon Fly Hat(M gender sign)
Dragon Fly Hat(F gender sign)

The terms were abbreviated differently. I corrected what I found, but would like you to check.

One more thing about abbreviations, less in this file, more in others from sec.6. You were abbreviating terms pretty much to death, making them quite unreadable, though there were still plenty of characters remaining. Again, in many cases abbreviations were also inconsistent.

I am attaching again the 31 char macro sheet. I think I sent it to you before – what I would like you to use in problematic cases is the small macro in cell C5 in this excel sheet. What you need to do is to paste it right next to the term you are working on. The German is in column B, so this you paste to column C. It will show you how many char.s there are in the cell after each change you make( you need to click out of the cell to see the change). I think it should help you use the 31 chars to maximum and produce more readable versions. You can also use glossary to see how terms were abbreviated as an example.

Please confirm!

———————-

Yes, please work on same file. I hadn’t time to give it a proper look yesterday.

One more thing about the small macro – you paste it to column C, and as with any formula, if it doesn’t work or shows something strange, you can click on it to edit the cell it is reading. Once you made any changes to the item name in column B, click out of the cell you were working on and the macro will immediately show you the new number of characters in the cell. Much easier then pressing CtrlQ and then removing the yellow and trying again… Tell me if it works.

” Received! ”

I have some time until 11 o’clock and then at 3.30 again.

———————-

Good morning,

I think we should try to cathch your time until 11, 3 is already late. Which time zone are you?

I am attaching one file.
Issues:
– quite lot of terms which are not consistent with glossary. I replaced alot, but there is a great chance I missed some.
– inconsistent abbreviations of same term
– abbreviation “to death” which makes it unreadable. Please try to find better solutions for abbreviations
– Recipe should always be translated as “Rezeptur”, not “Rezept” or abbreviated Rez.

The rest is in your hands. Please try to make the best out of this file.

Please confirm!

———————-

The file is attached bellow.

Please confirm receiving it. I also attach the macro sheet. The news about it is that in cell C5 (blue cell) I pasted a special macro, which identifies the number of characters in the cell to it’s left. You can paste it in column C in the sheet you work on next to the terms you are abbreviating. After you made some change – click out of the cell you were working on and the macro will show you the current number of characters in the cell. It speeds up the work.

” Please find attached 6d. “, I’ll have to nag you about segmentation again (Karel told me to bring it up with you again). Here is one example where obviously there is something in the source that does not get displayed in Transit. This is not the first example of that kind and I wonder how the translators dealt with it so far (also in the second part of the 02 reps file).
In Transit I get, where new lines mean new segments:

. You lost
coins
EXP, and the item
I did a search in the Excel source files and found:
You were killed by [%s]. You lost [%d] coins, [%d] EXP, and the item [%s]. I don’t know if the content in brackets will later be reinserted (I hope) but even if it does, how does the software know where? Even if I maim the German word order to fit where I guess these brackets should be? Sometimes this is near impossible and a disaster if these brackets were lost.
Hope this helps

confirming receipt of these two files. I’ll start on that now.

———————-

I just uploaded 6a. It’s astonishing that there are always new mistakes to be found. I think we could go on for years correcting these files.

———————-

Do you want me to reproof 6a-c now? Shall I take the files on my computer or will you send me the files you worked on?

———————-

Please find attached file 6c for additional evaluation.

———————-

Sorry didn’t see your message bellow.
1. no need to do all, only what I assign you here (files 6d and 6c)
2. Please use my files, as I had been working on them as well.

———————-

I have uploaded file 2a:
French_JD_100201_Localize_2a_Catherine.xls

with track changes as usual!

Ps: did you see my message above? I won;t be able to do 3rd file as I cannot work tomorrow until next Tuesday. Sorry, it’s just something that has been planned months in advance and I really cannot cancel)

———————-

Find attached 6d. Between 12am and 2pm I am afk, I am afraid but can resume at 2 o’clock sharp.

———————-

Forgot to say CET. So I won’t be available in the next 2h.

———————-

I have uploaded file 8e and report. I spent 1h35 on that file, which was good quality overall, apart from a few recurrent conjugation mistakes.

Carine

———————-

I´ve finished checking file 3a (terminology + abbreviations) and attached it here. It took me 120 minutes.
Please let me know if there is any further work for today.

———————-

I don’t know if we will have something additional – I will go over this file again and get back to you if there are any issues.

———————-

I just want to let you know that I´ll be unavailable from this Friday on to Sunday.
