Glossary Proofread Translated Work Translator

First – Carine has the macro. But she said she had issues she was unable to resolve in file 7f, in her words: “also highlighted two issues I couldn’t resolve with the help of the glossary (regarding shortening and order of words)”.
Carine had already uploaded to the system. Could you please take a look and help her resolve these 2 issues?

Second, thank you for hours, I recorded them in GS.

Third, I would appreciate a short general report on the files, but can already imagine what am I going to see there…

———————-

Well, in files from the 16 section there is no need to abbreviate, but there is a mountain of terminology.

Let me know how it goes and we will see what can we squeeze in the remaining time and what not.

———————-

yes of course, I can do some more JD.repair files.
I’ll send you 3b, 5a-d, 7e-g and section 11 this afternoon.

———————-

Good I will think what will be next, but I incline towards section 18.

Can you tell me a few words about quality of the files you were working on?

———————-

I can’t find anything marked Checked 1 when I scanned 203-205 earlier. It’s either Translated or Checked 2.

Generally, is there English/German in it? If there is, proofread it. If not, ignore it.

———————-

I hope you get better.

If you have completed any on the files you were assigned, I would appreciate if you uploaded them to the system.

———————-

As my first two files were lists of items and the next two files (7h and 7i) are not, I can’t really predict how long it will take me to complete them.
Hopefully, it won’t be as long a process as for the first two files.

Thenks
Carine” Ulrich, have decided not to have you proofread 05_reps_DEU after all. Will have something else for you instead tomorrow.

“Ok. I will focus on checking the game then.

———————-

Why were you working on this file? I had it assigned to . Or is it my mistake?

———————-

Sebastian sent me some comments on the files he worked on (including 5a)and asked me to incorporate these changes.
I thought Sebastian was the only one working on this file.

Sorry, did not mean to cause confusion. By the way, the file with sebatian’s comments is uploaded on CS.

———————-

Sorry for being unclear. Of course, the segments are all “translated”, I was wondering whether I am supposed to change them to checked 1 or checked 2 to indicate that they have been proofread by me, or if I should just leave them as “translated”.

Another question (I haven’t been regularly proofreading before, so please bear with me): There are some chinese segments, and these are also marked as translated. Is there anything I have to report or do about those?

———————-

Leave them as translated. Marking them as Checked 1 & 2 adds too much work for not substantial benefit.

There are also tricks you can do with filters so you can see only stuff modified by the translator (as opposed to stuff inserted by the reps file). This will speed things up since the reps file are already proofread.

As for the Chinese characters, leave them alone. They’re in the original files we have and we aren’t to touch them.

You may notice some segments have a sentence marked with +. The sentence might be translated, or untranslated. This means the translator aren’t sure about what the best translation is. Decide, and delete the plus sign.

Sometimes a translator will miss a sentence too. If it’s just a few, translate them. If it’s a lot, stop work on that file and let me know. Generally, if the translator makes a mess big enough that it will take you hours to fix, stop work and let me know there’s a problem, then proceed with the next file.

———————-

I will take a look at Carine’s files right away.
I will write reports on the files that have been already proofread. I worked on 1a last night, and only a few modifications were necessary, so that was a pleasant surprise.

———————-

Glad to have you back. We need proofreaders more than translators. It’s actually the harder job in my opinion.

Anyway, please proofread part 207, 208, and 209.
A dictionary has been included with your file, and an Excel file can be found here: http://translationstop.com/files/Glossary/

Warning: ‘s working on updating the glossary and the current glossary may very well be obsolete in a few hours.

The comments file for this section are:
http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/German/03_207_and_209_Sebastian_Translated.doc
http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/German/03_208_DEU_Sebastian_Transl.doc

Don’t worry about Sebastian’s comment about overwriting. Not going to happen to you.
The actual Transit files are here:
http://translationstop.com/files/Proofreading/German/03_207-9_DEU_tobe_proofed.PXF

Since I only interacted with you for a very short period back in Jade Dynasty, I don’t know how fast you are. So if after downloading these files you can glance at it and give me an estimate on how long it takes you to do them, that’ll be great. It’ll allow me to schedule work for everyone.

———————-

Just for your information:

is working on the glossary and the current glossary may very well be obsolete in a few hours.

Will upload the glossary as soon as it’s available and let you know.

———————-

I just uploaded a revision of Carine’s files. There should not be any problem now.

JM

———————-

I see. Guess that’s what happens when files are not assigned by a single person. For the future, please confirm with me on the files you work, I will request Sebastian to do same.

———————-

By the way, are there any other files you proofread or otherwise worked on in this “polishing JD” part of project and they are not listed in column C here?: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tl1axNbeor3f9JWptXigIhg&hl=en#gid=1

———————-

No,it is exactly like the GS says.

———————-

Ok. Thanks.

———————-

Hi

I finished 203, which was mostly fine (but I want to check a handful of things again, against the new glossary).

204 and 205 have more terms that are not consistent with the glossary. I guess they may not have been included in the glossary at the time the files were translated, or the translator had his own thoughts (did  provide any comments with these files?).

At any rate, I guess some conflicts may be resolved in the new glossary, and it will be better to base my decisions on the new glossary. So I started taking notes, so I can go back to them later with the new glossary, and decide which version to use.

But I realize now that it may be a waste of time, effectively I will have to go over a lot of content for a second time. So for now, I am taking a break.

On the other hand, it would be unfortunate to sit around idle for too long, and you may want the proofreading done quickly. In this case, I would have to use the info that is available at the moment, and make my own assumptions of what will fit best with the rest of the project.

Please let me know how to proceed.

———————-

Wait for .
I don’t know if the upcoming glossary will help, but I think it’s better to wait rather than having to come back later and fix things.

———————-

what’s going on with the 2a and 2d? Why did you upload them via Communication System?

First, talk with and confirm with her about the JD files.
She’s under the impression that only  and  are doing JD and that you are to focus on BOI. If  asked you to do some JD files, let her know so that
a. You don’t double-proof a file.
b. She knows that the money should go to you and not to .

I also want you to use the upload system.
http://001yourtranslationservice.com/newsystem/cgi-bin/up_1001_PR.cgi

There’s a selection for JD.repair already.
Use the CS only if the upload system is down or if you’re passing around information. Finished file should go to the upload page. This way there’s a central area and we don’t have to keep track of all 4 ways of passing files around.

———————-

Hi

sorry for the confusion.  asked me to upload these files which I had skimmed over, a few days ago, before the teams were split. I will write to to clear this up.

———————-

I am uploading 7h which took me 4h50 to proofread. Very good file overall. Few minor changes (might be due to late changes in the glossary).

I have 7i left to work on. Should be done tomorrow.
